Krang, Technodrome, and Dimension X - Could it Work?

    Like This Thread!
If they made a Ninja Turtles movie with Krang, the technodrome, and Dimension X could it work? Now...don't misunderstand the question. I'm not saying for them to do a 100% faithful adaptation of the original cartoon series. I'm just saying for them to include those things in a movie in which ever way they see fit.

They were going to have Professor Perry as an Utrom in TMNT 2, but figured the kids would think he's Krang, so they cancelled that idea. They had the Technodrome in the first game on the NES, and Krang nowhere to be found, so it can work. Not sure about Dimension X though.

Well...they already had two characters that reminded every kid of Bebop and Rocksteady.

i think the best way would go the route of the new tmnt series. adapt the orginal utrom comic book story and include the evil renegade utrom. only just have him actually be krang-no mystery shredder android body element. just have shredder be an actual human with his own foot clan like it should be. maybe they could have shredder secretly conducting buisness with him to get technology or weapons but it would be better to just keep them seperate. just give him his own unique heavy duty android body, less michillan tire man/king king bundy like the original cartoon series and more threatining looking. maybe instead of having his rock soldier army he could be working with a small army of triceratons. i think something along that route for the next tmnt movie could work.

That could work but Krang, the technodrome, and dimension x are so well-known. That's what was so great about the 1990 movie. It managed to combine the comics and cartoons series and please everyone.

It could probably work, but I doubt that Peter Laird would ever allow it to happen. It's about as likely to happen as Venus DeMilo showing up in the movies.

If it was not 100% faithfull then yes, I think it could be cool. It would have to be a little darker, with an edge and some really good CGI for Krang and the dimention X soldiers, but I do think it could work.

I totally think it would work. Krang could be a renegade Utrom who was banished from Dimension X, much like in the cartoon. And as Langden Alger said, maybe have him teamed up with some Triceratons. That would please fans of both the cartoon and comic. The main thing would be not to play it as silly and campy like the cartoon did, and it would work.

And I know Peter Laird would never allow it in a million years, but I would love to see Bebop and Rocksteady as Krang's thugs.

Why is Peter Laird such a hater? Okay...fine...I get it, they weren't faithful to your vision. However, that doesn't mean they didn't come up with good ideas. Give credit where it's due, man.

I think Peter Laird would just rather not see those ideas and characters again in any future incarnation, whatever idea he doesn't like has to go and never be seen again.

    Yup.

Anything could work if it were done right. But as long as Laird doesn't want elements of the 80's cartoons in any future TMNT adaption it's not going to happen. Which is a shame because there's a lot of characters and elements from the original series that could work well if done right.

In fact I don't see how one could go wrong going the retro route and introducing stuff from the older cartoon. That would bring in a whole new audience of people who were fans of the original series who otherwise couldn't give a rat's patootie about the newer show, like me.

Laird needs to wake up to the fact that if it wasn't for that "embarrassing" cartoon and toy line his creations would have gone nowhere and would have remained confined to an indy comic book. Not everyone has to like the 1980s TMNT cartoon, but it was the cartoon and corresponding action figures that made these characters a phenomenon in the first place. Embrace history, Peter.

Exactly. And like I said earlier it worked for the 1990 movie which is still the best. Better than the 2007 movie which is Laird approved, I guess.

Well, I'm sure he appreciates that the cartoon introducing people to TMNT but again, he just doesn't want to see those characters again in future incarnations.

Peter Laird is just being a hater. Like I said earlier...a good idea is a good idea. You know what else was a good idea? Batgirl. You know when she was introduced? 1966. During the campy era of Batman. Have the writers and artists of the current "dark Batman" ignored Batgirl? Nope. She's still around. Even though she was introduced during the campy era.

It's Laird's opinion. Besides, as much as I like the 80's TMNT cartoon which I still do and have fond memories but I think it's for the best that Krang, The Technodrome and Dimension just weren't used in any future incarnation at all.

They're better as like nods or homages to the cartoon like that reference to Krang in one episode of the TMNT 2k3 cartoon.

Plus, I can see why he doesn't like Krang though,

I dunno, I thought the '80s cartoon was a bit more livelier visually than any of the Laird stuff, but that's just me (I also haven't been a fan of the "uber-serious" Shredder seen in every other incarnation either). That said, I really enjoyed the 2007 movie, so they're not absolutely necessary for me to enjoy a Ninja Turtle production. He should lighten up, though.
