An explosion at LuthorCorp kills all the Board members and injures Oliver (Justin Hartley), who was there to announce the merger of his company with LutherCorp. Oliver believes that Lex is responsible for the blast, but Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) learn that the bomber is Winslow Schott (guest star Chris Gauthier), a toymaker and former Queen Industries employee with a grudge against Oliver.
Michael Rohl directed the episode written by Holly Henderson & Don Whitehead.

IS this really The Toyman? I didn't hear or see anything but I hope they keep his mysterious appearance from the comics.
Yeah, it's The Toyman. Pictures of him are already floating around on the usual Smallville sites.
2 hours and 30 minutes till it airs for me. From the preview I pretty much knew that something was gonna go wrong again between Clark's on again off again relationship.
"I can take care of myself"
*Life threatening situation comes about*
*Clark overreacts over Lana... again.* (At least that's what I predict.)
Not really a bad version of Toyman.
Our worst fears have come true, folks. Lois is officially Clark's second choice instead of his true love.![]()
And a few notes:
This was Kreuk's last episode for the season.
The next episode airs on March 5 if I'm not mistaken.

Okay that does it! My HD/Cable provider needs to get smacked in the face 4 times. Last night my DVR records wonky and the last five minutes of Smallville suddenly switched from HD to SD. I don't have a list, but you can bet I'm taking Nixon's and adding you to it!
"There was an explosion. All of the board members were killed. Oliver was there."
GASP!
"He's in the hospital."
How convenient. lol. I'm teasing. Okay partially teasing. Obviously we can't let the young Green Arrow kick the bucket.
Well! I'd say the execution was better than the idea itself. The fan consensus seemed to have been to take Clark and Lana, end it, and make them both want to move forward, but that wasn't really the aim of this episode's story. It WAS classic Lex. It felt like a Lex plan...well except for the alleged dying of course.
Toy dude (Toyman: The Early Years) was very good, and the guy did a good job, but I feel like he was missing in the episode. The clearest example is when he just trotted off and we didn't see what became of him after getting out of the hospital. He escaped...aaand that was the extent of what we were told. Shows these days (current seasons like now) do that to me a lot lately.
I'm not sure what it means. Once upon a time there was that "doomsdayish" fellow but he's probably still at the super strength spa finishing up his pore treatment. And hey Chloe, is your "husband" okay? Is he ALIVE? Was he fired? (again teasing on the last two)
Lana leaving reminds me of one (if there was more than one I don't remember) time she did the same leaving shtick and went to China...and wore a BLONDE WIG...to FIT IN. That's NOT teasing. She actually did that.
Although, I liked the last scene (in spectacular Standard Definition) with the kiss, and Clark intentionally bringing himself to near unconsciousness. But I think Tom and the director may have been able to do a better job with it. I mean after she left he probably technically should have colapsed, instead of just looking downward.
I feel for him though. On extra extra long term exposures, Kryptonite can eventually effect humans too. That means Lana can't marry me either!
5th of March, huh? Foo.

Damn you, Lana. You ruined a possible epic moment for Clark. >=[ He could've gone right up to Lex and slugged him. </rant>
Also, I found Clark falling over after kissing her to be comical. It was just really over-the-top.

In addition, it was supposed to be a dramatic and heart-breaking scene but instead it was just eye-rolling. Clark was never supposed to be this upset over Lana. Like I said...now...according to smallville...Lois is Clark's 2nd choice and not he's true love. If it wasn't for Lana's kryptonite infestion he would totally be hittin' that.![]()

that ain't olver queen
it's got to be lex with a mind switching thing
I hate what they did with Lex this episode, i havent watched in a few episodes, but has Lex been all disfigured all season?? and how can you kill Lex Luthor, he aint Supes yet.
"I will turn your name into a synonym for weakness"
"Politics always takes vengeance on those that belittle it"

The writing sucked. Clark looks like a villain because he was going to kill lex, ollie looks like a ****** because he essentially committed murder (even though Lex isn't actually dead), and Lana looks like a hero because she gave up her relationship with clark to save the day. Lois takes second to no woman, except in the smallville writer's mind she takes second to Lana. They couldn't have come up with a better reason for a break up than Kryptonite? What the hell?! It should've been the other way around. Lana should've been driven to murder Lex, that way clark looks like a hero and breaks up with her because she's a power hungry *****. I'm super pissed at the ineptitude of the writers to come up with even the simplest of break up scenes.

I think the kryptonite was fitting considering when he first met lana, she had the meteorite necklace on and he collapsed when he first saw her and he could never get close to her. Now it's come full circle, lana is out of his reach again and its all because of the kryponite
lots of clois fans in the room i see![]()
Instead of writing a truely great break up scene they resort to kryptonite again.

More Super-Sex, eh?
I'd'a killed Lex. Screw the comics, sometimes y'gotta kill stupid guys who do stupid things, Lex's a big boy. He's chosen his route.
"This is murder!"
"This is Justice!"
"This! Is! SPARTA!" (Sorry it had to be done... not really.)
As for the episode: Clark sure was a card in this one. One minute he's all preachy about not killing Lex to Chloe, then when Lana absorbs all that kryptonite - "I'm gonna KILL HIM!"
I know that was a Killers song at the end, but what was the name of it?
"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you." -Gandalf in 'The Fellowship of the Ring'
So the only way they could think of to break up Clark and Lana is by turning Lana into the Kryptonite Man ?
*facepalm*
And what with Clark trying to kill Lex? He was preaching to Oliver about killing being wrong in previous episodes and now he want to kill Lex for keeping Lana away for him.
*facepalm*
I think the only good thing about this episdoe was the Toyman. Everything else pretty much suck.
