I disagree with Santa Claus: The Movie, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, Jingle All The Way, and Surviving Christmas, but I was bored by Reindeer Games. The others I've either never seen, had no interest in, or just haven't gotten to yet.

I disagree with some of the choices, but overall a decent list.

I've only seen one of those, so I guess they were bad.

POKEMON PUZZLE LEAGUE! You know you want to read my review.
Did EW put Silent Night, Deadly Night on the list because of the controversy? I mean if anything, any of the sequels should be on the list. And why is the original Black Christmas on the list? Do people hate violent movies (Horror or not) set during the Christmas season that much?
Sigh...this list only reminds how much "Jingle all the Way" is incredibly underrated...
Yup, there's the 1994 Miracle on 34th Street. The perspective lost on modern audiences is that in the original, you're supposed to think "Santa" is just a crazy old man, and be surprised when he actually turns out to be him at the end. (The film was actually released in the summer.) I did not figure this out until my third viewing. I'm too used to the "BELIEEEEEVE!" message shoved down my throat.
The remake doesn't even try this -- there's no doubt he's Santa.
What most annoys me about Christmas movies is that no matter how bad they are, they will get endless play on cable TV for at least twenty years after they come out, so they can't help but make a profit. No matter what you think of the Grinch movie, it'll be THERE until at least 2030.

THIS WEEK: When you think about it, TV shows with cult fanbases have actually returned more times than they haven't. The results have been mixed, but it's a thing, and it totally happens! Join us as we examine many recent examples in..."YOU CAME BACK!"
the fact that they listed Home Alone 2 makes me want to completely discredit these people, so what if its very similar to the first movie, last time i checked the movie was still highly entertaining, its a classic.
Jingle all the way was good too, honestly these guys have no taste (i havent seen any of the other movies, so those two are all i have to go on on what their taste is).

I agree. As unnecessary as I think it was to even have a sequel in the first place, at least it was still entertaining (IMO), well-made, and had some nice moments, like the scene with Kevin and the Bird Lady in the theater attic. I think it's a scene just as the good as the one in the first between Kevin and the old man in the church. And it's got Tim Curry, in one of my favorite roles of his. How can it not be good?![]()
I think people my age, I'm 21, talk more about Home Alone 2 than the original. Why? Two reasons. One is the talkboy. What kid didn't put that on their Christmas list that year? The other was the toy store in the movie. Who didn't drool during that scene?
Another thing to consider is that the movie is WAY more violent than the original. In the original he just hurts them. In the second he almost kills them. Seriously. Go back and watch the "trap" scenes. Then, it all ends with the Piegon Lady sending like a dozen pigeons to attack them. You watch that movie now as an adult and it just blows your mind.
In conclusion, Home Alone is a cute and funny Christmas movie. Home Alone 2 had kids laughing at near death experiences. So...I say Home Alone 2 is the more interesting of the two.
Hey Old Guy, I realized we're the same age.
At the time I think I liked the second better than the first for the reasons you said. But it's just I saw the first so many times on VHS( kids are like VHS?! What's that?! ) and since on TV and I just feel its better.
However when I think of Home Alone 2, I think instantly think of Tim Curry. Is it bad that for me that his most recognizable role![]()
No mention of K. Gordon Murray's Santa Claus?
No Lupita or Pitch or blatant ethnic stereotypes or "magic powder of dreaming of joy and good will" or demonic laughing mechanical photosensitive reindeer?
They didn't even mention Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' MST3K street cred!
And I kinda LIKED the 34th Street remake!

Toonami on [as] Saturdays at 12amET. Now with more Sara.
Home Alone is the fresher and more realistic of the two. However, part 2 is simply insane from a child and adult's point of view. Aside from what I mentioned above you have scenes like the one where Kevin touches that woman's butt, the one where Kevin, pretending to be his dad and using recordings of his uncle, accuses Tim Curry of being a pervert. Then, you have that gag repeated a few scenes later but instead with the gangster on TV accusing him of "smooching" with his brother. Then, of course, there's the creepy scene where Kevin is wandering around NY at night.
Marv getting hit with a brick in the head is still one of my favorite gags. its so simple and thats why its funny.
I think my favorite is when Harry's head lights up and he sticks it in the toilet to put it out, but what he thinks is water is really paint thinner. I love the cut to outside the house where all you see/hear is a massive fireball through the windows.![]()
Ok, you have GOT to be kidding me. Home Alone 2, along with the first one, is practically considered a classic to every 90s kid. It's hilarious and sweet.
Home Alone 2 ain't that bad.
Wasn't Home Alone 2 rated PG-13 just because it of more intense violence of the traps?
At any rate, they're FAR better than Home Alone 4.

Spoiler:
Actually it was just rated PG. I'm surprised it only got that considering how violent it was.
