    "2008 Primetime Emmy Awards" Talkback

    Like This Thread!
Is anyone gonna watch it tonight? Of all the major awards show this is the most boring since it's basically the same people winning every year. However, you still manage to see some funny things like the two times when Conan hosted or last year when Stewart and Cobert decided to give Steve Carell an award.

I didn't even know the Emmys were on tonight. I hardly ever tune in anyway since the shows I like are never nominated for anything. The Oscars are about the only award show I pay attention to, more out of my love for movies than anything else.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "The Simpsons" once again claimed television's highest honor for a prime-time cartoon Saturday at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, extending the show's record winning streak.

It marked the 10th time that "The Simpsons," airing on the News Corp Ltd-owned Fox network for 19 seasons as the longest-running comedy series in prime time, was named best half-hour animated show.

The latest accolade for the hit cartoon about a lazy, slow-witted family man named Homer Simpson came during a 3 1/2-hour presentation of the 60th annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards, mostly honoring achievements in categories like makeup, costumes, sound editing and art direction.

The ceremony, which airs next week on cable TV, serves as a prelude to the higher-profile Primetime Emmys on Sept. 21, to broadcast live on ABC.

You know, I realize that the Emmys get decent ratings every year, but I honestly don't know anybody who watches it. I know people who watch the Oscars and the Grammys, but the Emmys? It just doesn't seem like anybody cares about it. Personally, I turned on the Emmys and I got bored just listening to Oprah Winfrey's speech at the beginning. I soon turned the TV off.

This has been one of the most boring shows in my recent memory. Would it have killed the producers to find a good host?

Only interested in a few catagories, Mainly that Paul Giamatti got his due for John Adams. The rest, I will forget by the end of the week.

PRO: I'm happy for 30 Rock and the awards the show, Alec Baldwin, and Tina Fey received.

CON: The Josh Grobin television theme song mash up... not good. There wasn't anything artistic to it. The Emmy producers should have just gone with a montage and it would have sufficed.

I loved the Katherine Heigl joke he made when he presented. FUNNY.

Bryan Cranston. As a "Malcolm in the Middle" fan, I'm glad he won, but...whoa. I was not prepared for that.

I'm glad Mad Men won. I haven't seen the show, but it's nice to see something else win. This is why people don't care for the Emmys. Same winners every year till a new generation of shows arrive and those win for a couple of more.

The highlight for me was Don Rickles. He was hilarious.

I wanted to ask why? I've seen probably 2 minutes of the show and various advertisements and I've never had any interest to watch it. Is it really that good of a show? Is Baldwin really that good of a comedic actor that I won't roll my eyes every time he's on the screen? Tina Fey I like, but I think she might get overexposed now.

I used to not watch The Office until someone told me it was hilarious. Now I'm hooked on it. So I'm none too happy that it didn't win anything.

Yes, yes, and yes. It's probably the one show I'm really happy for to see all of it's wins.

I feel bad for Conan. During the writer's strike he had some HILARIOUS episodes and yet he lost the Emmy.

Actually that was one of best part of the show. I thought it was hilarious when he sang the South Park theme song.

I agree, that made the whole thing worth watching was seeing Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell interacting at long last. And Carell finally gave Ricky his Emmy back! Who knew there'd be a "Part 2" to last year's events.

I was amazed at the amount of awards Tina Fey won. It is good that she's getting some recognition. BTW, is it just me, or is Tina hotter with glasses on, than off?

The Colbert Report finally got an Emmy!

I like the computer animation (not Lego video game style) of the SNL members and writers in one part.
