They'll...do DKR!!!
I kid.
The Joker must not be brought back. No one will be able to top what Ledger did there, and it would be a mistake to even try. It would be a flaw before production even begins. Leave the Joker locked in Arkham Asylum. Recasting him would be a mistake.
As for villains. I am rather partial to Talia al Ghul now leading the newly regrouped League of Shadows.
With all respect to Ledger, who was far better than I expected, I do think they could recast him. I mean, the character is covered in makeup and scars, and the voice sounded like a Jack Nicholson impression half the time (although, not as often as the trailer made it seem). If his actual face wasn't shown so much, I'd agree that he couldn't be recast, but with the scars and makeup, I think it COULD work. While something seemed off about his Joker, considering he didn't actually make jokes, it WAS entertaining.
Also, I'm glad I didn't see any pictures of Two-Face before seeing the film. That design was just so much better than Forever.
My only question is, where did he get his suit? Did he really have TIME to get it made?
Opinions. By nature, none and all are right.

I would like to see The Riddler be the villain of third film yet the concept of Talia would be flawed.
I think it's the same with Harley, Robin, Barbra, etc.
They're all kids!
I would expect Talia to be a child still...

Well considering the third installment of a trilogy usually manages to utterly fail to top its immediate predecessor (See: Return of the Jedi, Godfather Part III, X-Men The Last Stand, Spider-man 3, etc.), I'd say the next Batman film will probably be the first absolute POS Chris Nolan has ever made because there's nowhere else to go.
So in the vulgar tongue:
THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THEY'RE GOING TO TOP THIS EPIC FILM !!!!!
I'm serious folks, this is perfection.
Nolan would not do a third unless he thought he could do something worth while.
Then again, who will blame him if BB3 is not as good as TDK?
The only villains that come to mind in a new Batman movie would be Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy.

The great thing about Batman is that they could do a film in the same continuity and leave the Joker out, say he's in Arkham or whatever, and it would still be good. Not that I want them do do that, but it could work.
I think they should recast the Joker for a sequel. As much as I liked Heath Ledger in all of his works, especially this one, they can't let this character fade away. You may not find someone with the spirit that Heath had, but you can still find someone dedicated enough to fill the role. If they found someone that just tried to mimic his performance then I would be very angry, but if they got someone who was just as good in their own way then I would be delighted.
Sorry if none of that makes sense.![]()

POKEMON PUZZLE LEAGUE! You know you want to read my review.
Then again, they COULD wait until the FOUTH movie (should they choose to do it) to bring Joker back in. Even if they choose to bring him back, it doesn't have to be the NEXT movie. unless they don't decide to make a fourth. but that WOULD give them a good 5-6 years to find a new actor.

Maybe toss in a line about being treated by a Dr. Harlene Quinzel to set up his return down the road.
As for Robin? No, the only possible way I can see Robin working is if they got a really- REALLY- good actor in his late teens/early 20's that could pull off the role. I don't want to see 'Zac Efron cast as Robin', people. And in the current day Hollywood, extemely well talented child actors are extremely difficult to come by, and the ones that were any good (Kevin Zegers, Joseph Gordon Levit) are going to be too old for that kind of role by the time production starts.

How about that kid from "Sixth Sense" as a potential Robin?

That's what worries me. With the rare exception (Trilogies and directors who are so embedded in the franchise like George Lucas), directors almost never return for a third outing, since they want to try other projects, and Bale's pretty much made it clear that if Nolan doesn't return, he's going to have to think long and hard about returning himself.

Ok, I'm gonna make it clear here, I don't think Robin would be a good addition to the new movies, he would make it too childish.

The thing is, with TDK becoming a mega-blockbuster-Oscar buzzworthy for Ledger hit, WB's going to start getting more *involved* with the franchise and start dictating what they want in the next film, which will unfortunately, most likely include Robin.
It's the same situation with what happened with Spider-Man 3 when the higher ups decided to toss Venom into the film. WB's going to figure 'Well, at this point we could toss anyone into the film and people will still pay to see it'.
