    Did anyone see this?

I don't like Martin Short anyway, and his opening was a reminder of why. Five year olds may be impressed with bad singing and spastic dancing, they may even laugh, but it doesn't do it for me.

The only saving grace of this show is the interviews. Maybe these guys can be funny enough to fill the gap that Short leaves in the funny department.

There wasn't any good material until Bill Maher came on. And that was just so-so. I couldn't keep watching for Steve Martin even though I like him. It was just too painful.

My prediction. There won't be anymore episodes of this load of drek ordered by CC.

I agree. I didn't find the other late night talk show type parody skits to be that funny, but I enjoyed the interviews. The reason I was able to stay with them is I'm a fan of his. So I think it had an unfortunate outcome but I doubt we'll be ordering more episodes of this.

Really? Is it because of Ed Grimley or something else.

Actually I wasn't able to enjoy SNL in the 80s because back then I just wasn't old enough to think it's funny and apreciate it. I just saw him in interviews and a movie here and there, like The Three Amigos, and I figured, hell he's harmless and he's kinda silly so I like him.

I think they should forget about the whole late night talk show parody formula completely and just have two 11 minute interviews. I mean, that not only was the only good part of the show but it's what we tuned in for in the first place right?

A costumed moderator, smarter than a network executive. What will they think of next!?

    Slightly off topic....

Does anybody know if Comedy Central has ordered new episodes of TV Funhouse? I'd rather be watching new episodes of that show than Glick or Bush!
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

    Prime-time D***!

So I finally watched this last night (Sunday)..and I have to say that both Glick and Bush suffer from the same problem--they're 8-minute one-note joke Saturday Night Live sketches stretched three times longer than they need to be. In his fat suit Glick (Short) looks like he's trying to be the late Chris Farley playing the incompetent interviewer who keeps interrupting and trying to outfunny the funnymen.
For me the most humorous bits were the fake comercials--particularly the Tom Green bit and the celebrities-on-tape ad that looked like the ones E! runs. The interviews, although I am a Steve Martin fan, had promise, but Glick is so smarmy and trying to be funny that ol' Steve-o (who's coolly trying to play it straight and not "be on") looks embarrassed for him.
The i.v. material is good, though, and I can forgive bad execution if that's the case. The part about Marilu Henner caught my ear because I'd just read an article that afternoon in the checkout stand that her marriage was torn apart because of her openness about her sex life with her introverted husband. Glick asked Bill Maher whether women should talk about sex or whether that should remain a man thing, and Maher hemmed and hawed over it, obviously not really wanting to give a yes or no reply.
    Spoiler:
Which gets me into a point that was raised by the breast thread and why men love massive mammaries. I believe women have just as healthy an interest in sex as men do but most are afraid to admit it because it makes them sound trampy. Those who are not afraid to admit it are the ones that scare me because they have some very strange demands of a man. My current beef is with the anticircumcision crowd--their propaganda makes it sound like newborn boys are being marched into the gas chambers at Auschwitz. They go on and on about the sensitivity issue, say that an unsnipped man makes a better lover and such, and list innumerable and unfounded horrors of the practice. So I say if a woman can demand a superfluous bit of skin on a man, I'm fully within my rights for wanting a little extra fatty tissue upstairs on a woman..aren't I?

    Excuse the detour, please.
In short, PTG is simply an awkward midsummer replacement for Bush in the plum Wednesday after-ten slot and will be lucky to last 6 shows. ComCent would do better to buy more eps of TV Funhouse...or resurrect The League of Gentleman or The Upright Citizens Brigade. Hey, why not begin talks of Strangers With Candy: The College Years?

"Martin Short" means "not funny" in Yoruba.

At least that's not as bad as having to be circumsized when you get older. I've heard that's pretty gnarley. The stitches kind of tend to pop out!

    Female perspective?

Here's all the women on these boards looking at where this thread has gone, blushing and running away in fear.
Oops--looks like the one on the far right just got sick....
