0_0 That was unexpected. But you know, I was hoping The Ruins would take the No. 1 spot given the good buzz about that movie.
Three new movies opened this weekend and 21 held them all off with a $15.1 million second weekend and a $46.5 million total.
George Clooney's latest film Leatherheads came in second with $13.4 million despite lots of marketing and advertising. Critics though were pretty evenly divided with it (54% at RottenTomatoes).
Debuting in third was Nim's Island with $13.3 million.
In fourth place was Horton Hears a Who with $9.1 million and a $131 million total.
And rounding out the top 5 and debuting was The Ruins with $7.8 million.
Out of the top 12 this weekend is College Road Trip (13th), The Bank Job (14th), Run, Fat Boy, Run (16th), and Never Back Down (17th).

It's a shame about Superhero Movie. The first good spoof movie since Scary Movie 3, and people are ignoring it.
Here's hoping that if Prom Night succeeds, we'll get an R rated Prom Night II: Hello, Mary Lou.

Spoiler:
Tough break for the newbies. From what I hear, 21 was good but not that good. My roommate (a film major) came back from watching it the other day and said "You saw the trailer, right?" I said "Yeah." He said "What do you think happens in Act III?" I gave him my prediciton, and I was about 90% right. His analysis of the film was "It's a good film, but if you've seen the trailer you've seen almost all of the movie. The very beginning and the very ending aren't in the trailer, but based on the very beginning you know exactly how the very ending is going to play out."
When I think of proms, I hardly think of R-rated content. I'm guessing this movie is more than its title suggests?
EDIT: Holy crap. And I thought my prom experience was terrible.
Can only imagine her back then in the bedroom with that title. >.>
As far as the movies go, I liked Leatherhead. Then again, I'm a huge football fan, so this was really fun. Clooney's comedic side is great.

Scary Movie 1 was alright, 2 was terrible, 3 was surprisingly good and 4 was just generic. But all 4 of them beat the ones that have come out in recent years.
I'd rather stick with the other ones already mentioned in this thread, they have more than just copy/pasted scenes to them.
Along with adding in stuff in various scene that don't make any sense. Like the Happy Feet, Rambo, Transformers, Shrek 3 and Spider-Man 3 copy/pasted scenes.
Smart People looks like a good movie with a good cast, but it looks like a movie that probably won't make it to my area (I'm still waitng for Run Fatboy Run).
Maybe that's because you don't have a good sense of humor or something (All ZAZ films are great, except Kentucky Fried Movie, which is just weird for my taste)
Heh, I thought Leatherheads would've made like 20mil+
Didn't expect it. The hype has only been moderate, actually. I haven't seen it advertised to death, surprisingly.
It would also be interesting to see that uncut Prom Night films on DVD at long last. I don't much care, but slasher fans would probably dig it. A sequel to a remake that's also a remake of a sequel?! I dunno. There's interesting territory that could be mined from that premise, though it'll probably just be a generic slasher flick. And Carrie still has the greatest Prim Night scene EVER.
Money. It all comes back to money.
I wish I could major in film.
That...depends...on a number of things...I mean, I went to a Catholic school, and while I was a good little boy, not everyone else was...When I think of proms, I hardly think of R-rated content.
Raises eyebrows curiously....Ah, yes, I remember my Prom. Not too bad. I went to two with two people who I wound up becoming friends with, but the date Junior year is one of my best friends now.
Ow.
Indeed. The slasher heyday.
You have a very dirty mind.
It's getting good reviews and has headlining stars, but it appears that the public just isn't taking to it.As far as the movies go, I liked Leatherhead. Then again, I'm a huge football fan, so this was really fun. Clooney's comedic side is great.
They're remaking all of those old 80s slasher pictures for some reason or another.
WHY IS QUEEN STILL ON?!

Not it will most likely do any good, but I encourage any interested parties to sign this petition.
