I've been wondering why no one has been watching this. Its a really good and funny show.
I don't really watch any live action shows except for a few Scifi. I dropped the idea of watching dramas entirely because they have become all alike. Either hostage negotiation or the methodical entrapment of a precise and diabolical murderer.
Breaking Bad on AMC is wAy different. Told from the point of view of a man giving up on rational thinking, but bringing with him a lot of knowledge that ordinary criminals wouldn't have. They have problems, but I don't find myself saying "you stupid idiot, don't do that", as I have with other crime shows. Most important is that many of the decisions he suddenly has to make are morally wrong too him, he still does what needs to be done, though they get a bit sloppy about it sometimes. It gives the show a dark humour that effectively breaks up the hard drama. The characters are very well played in very believable fashion giving the audience reasons to care about the story and the people.

I caught the series premiere totally by accident, and I really liked it. I had no clue what it was going into it and it completely played with my expectations. Having Bryan Cranston doesn't hurt either, he's a real joy to watch. I think I could watch him in just about any role.
Vince Gilligan, the creator, I only know from the X-Files. He wrote some of the best episodes.
It's amazing how they can believably play off some truly disturbing things for laughs, like the end of episode 2/beginning of 3.
The show is also very interesting to follow on television since it has a concept of dark comedy drama tv series.
I love this show. Its the new show we talk about at work on monday mornings now. I can't wait to see how the story as a whole plays out.
So, somebody wanna make talkbacks for this on Sunday nights?
Great show! The dark humor is excellent. I never really watched Malcolm in the Middle but I recognize the lead from this show. He is perfect in the role. He reminds me a lot of one of my own teachers in high school...well, prior to the part where he starts cooking meth, anyways! They have already put him in some extremely tough situations. I don't know if they are planning to have multiple seasons of this show since the character is already very sick but I'm already a big fan.
My only complaint are the DEA guys. They come across as stupid, macho, bigoted, etc. Okay, okay, I suppose there are cops like that but I'd like to think it's a minority. But on television, it seems like too often this is the way they are portrayed.
