PREVIEW FOR THURSDAY’S “IMPACT!” BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV
Joe controversy, Tiger Mask returns, Angle comments on Lesnar
    By Bill Banks

On Thursday night, TNA Wrestling returns to SpikeTV for two hours of Total Nonstop Action as we count down the days until the February 10 “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View event from Greenville, South Carolina.

The below is a preview of what to expect on the broadcast:

    - The big news going into Thursday’s “iMPACT!” is that TNA management isn’t pleased with the fact that Samoa Joe was disqualified from the three-way main event this past week involving Christian Cage vs. AJ Styles vs. Joe. TNA management feels Joe has a legit beef regarding the bogus disqualification. Not only that, but TNA management feels Jim Cornette should have reversed it on the spot! Rumor has it that if Cornette doesn’t address Joe’s disqualification this Thursday night on “iMPACT!”, there could be major ramifications concerning Cornette’s job status in TNA Wrestling!

    - In addition, TNAwrestling.com has learned that New Japan superstar Tiger Mask will return to “iMPACT!” this Thursday night for in-ring action! Tiger Mask last appeared in TNA in May and competed at the “Sacrifice” Pay-Per-View event, thrilling fans with his high-flying arsenal. Tune in this Thursday as Tiger Mask makes his return to the United States on SpikeTV!

    - TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will comment on his longtime rival Brock Lesnar entering the world of mixed martial arts, plus exclusive footage of Lesnar training for the upcoming bout.

    - Also this Thursday night, Booker T is scheduled to return to the Impact Zone after what Robert Roode did to his wife Sharmell at the Final Resolution Pay-Per-View. The question is – what hell will Booker unleash on Roode? Tune in this Thursday night to find out!

    - Plus, Thursday’s broadcast will feature the results of the 2007 TNA Year-End Awards, held last month on our website! You voted for your favorite moments and superstars in TNA from 2007 – now find out who took home the honors this Thursday night on SpikeTV.

“iMPACT!” will also features news and updates on the Sunday, February 10 “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View event! All this and much more this Thursday night at 9pm on SpikeTV!

I swear, if TNA spent as much time on their actual product as they spend ripping on the WWE/Older Wrestlers, they'd be the best product on the market right now.

Although this episode featured the debut of Curry Man, which is officially the coolest thing ever, so I can't complain much.

Although all this talk of New Japan really has me wishing they'd bring back the World X Cup.

Which leads me to the whole Team 3D/X Wrestlers crap. This entire feud started with 3D taking the X-Belt, and them trying to get it back. Now Lethal doesn't even have the belt anymore. So why the hell are they still feuding?

This is wrestling, people. It doesn't need to be this complicated!

Be'lee that. They have Shark Boy doing a Steve Austin riff right down to a parody of the Rattlesnake's theme music and entrance. This is what happens when you give Vince Russo too much power.

    1. You do know who Curry Man is, don't you?

    2. Devine winning the title does defeat the whole point of Team 3D's promise two weeks ago of returning the X belt at Against All Odds. However, they can say this was a swerve from Team 3D (& Russo), as they really had no intention of returning the title, just making sure their guy would be the champ. However, after leaving Devine to be choked out by Samoa Joe, maybe Devine should rethink his allegiance with Team 3D. Ray & Devon must job at the PPV.

Re.: Joe. The right thing to do IMPO, would be to add Joe to the title match at the PPV, and make it a 3-way elimination match for the title. Russo is the puppet master here, too.

As usual it's a good Impact when it came to the matches but mediocre when it came to the storylines and skits.

Really though another WWE imitation. Who's next to imitate, the Rock, HBK or why not Vince just to screw with all of us.

I can't wait until the team 3d/X division is over. Just like the Aj Style decision angle this has dragged on for far too long.

As for Curry Man, are you sure it's him? I ask because I could swear I saw hair coming out of the back of the mask.

Mrs. Fifi Fanatic: "What's going on in here?"

Me: "Honey! C'mere! Look! It's Curry Man!"

Mrs. Fifi Fanatic: "Who the *bleep* is Curry Man?"

    Yes, this exchange actually happened.

I can't help what anybody says, "Stone Cold" Sharkboy is hilarious. Gotta love the clam juice. But I guess one should not let Russo know that they can do an impression of another wrestler; or he'll have you out in front of the cameras doing it. At this rate, I wonder when TNA will sign the immortal Gillberg. :anime:

To say that ODB is over would be an understatement. She blew the roof off the Impact Zone. How did Mr. McMahon let her slip through the cracks?

Shades of Shawn Michaels! Jay Lethal has lost his smile! Losing to Devine serves no real purpose unless it's to set up a feud for after Team 3D loses at the PPV....

Decent enough Impact overall.... "And that's the fishing line, 'cause Sharkboy said so!"

Angle/ Tomko should provide a good, entertaining match next week. I loved how Christian Cage was out laughing at AJ Styles at the end of the show. Tomko's come a long way since his WWE days.

"Stone Cold" Sharkboy is going to grow old and fast, but my dad was trying to figure out how the Rattlesnake lost so much weight. He does sound convincing for the part.

ODB destroyed Awesome Kong again after coming out to save Gail Kim. While the segment was fairly predictable, I'm glad they have at least one womens wrestler who can stand up to Kong.

Joe destroying everything in sight was fairly predictable. He's right about deserving another title shot.

As for "Curry Man" and "Tiger Mask," lets just say that New Japan Wrestling has some pretty entertaining guys, and I hope we get to see them more often.

I believe Curry Man has also wrestled as Conquistador Dos in WWF. He's just all over the place. I always wondered if Curry Man was well recieved by the Japanese fans.

Maybe TNA ought to do what RoH did in it's early years, portray the silly wrestlers as the heels. Sharkboy, Jay Lethal and Petey Williams could all team up to form a stable where they could do their impressions then get their butts handed to them.

Ah man, that iMPACT! was hilarious. I know a lot of people are getting angry with Shark Boy "disrespecting" Stone Cold Steve Austin, but I'm really not taking it that seriously. This is funny stuff. I swear, Shark Boy has Stone Cold's walk and taunts down perfectly. And Curry Man also completely owns. After seeing that promo posted in this thread, I'm looking forward to his time in TNA even more. I'm just hoping it isn't a huge setback for Daniels(and YES, he is Curry Man. I've heard all kinds of arguments about it elsewhere).

I also have to say that Tomko has been the best booked wrestler by far over the past few months. I wouldn't be surprised to see that heavyweight title belt around his waist by the end of the year.

Which number Tiger Mask are we on again?

Sayama went to found SHOOTO, then we had three successors, I think.

I had Chuck on Thursday night, so I made big plans to watch the show tonight which I did.

The level that TNA hypes the fan vote on the awards of the year just isn't very interesting. I guess each segment became more about what as said/the interruptions than the actual trophy with Lethal talking normally, Gail getting attacked, Roode mocking Booker and Joe not being very focused on his win.

The Nash-Morgan confrontation was actually kind of cool. I don't know if anything will come of it, but I liked it.

Making Payton Banks look like Traci seems an odd call to me. The contrast was appearance worked for me more than a copycat one.

Kaz was getting so big and I feel like he's being wasted attacking Black Reign like this. I would rather he defend Traci like he was doing two months ago or whenever.

I'm just amazed at "Stone Cold" Sharkboy. This would have been clever like 10 years ago.

Kurt Angle didn't do a very good job recruiting Tomko, did he?

Johnny Devine has been holding onto the X Title for what seems like a long time and now there is no payoff? Lame.

Hoyt & Rave with the Guitar Hero guitars was just odd, not Curry Man odd, but still odd.

It seems Samoa Joe and his spiritual advisor Kevin Nash got what he/they wanted in terms of Cornette's agreement. Seems a sad resolution for a rebel like Joe to get the money he wanted. What an odd thing to fight for in a story line.

I guess Tomko beat 3D & MMG all by himself. I don't see a bright future for him and A.J.

I agree that the "Stone Cold" Shark Boy thing is going to get old fast, but these last two weeks have been good. It coming out of absolutely nowhere last week and him having Austin down pat this week was quite funny.

I don't follow Japanese wrestling at all. Is Curry Man something Daniels actually does over there semi-seriously, or is this TNA's version of Mr. America?

Despite all the nonsense TNA has thrown at us over the past year or so, they've actually managed to do the impossible: I actually give a damn about Tomko. I just hope they don't do what it seems like they're gonna do and put him back with Christian.
