Doctor Who Episode question
In the episode "The Sound of Drums" when the sky split open and the Toclafane poured in was that a dimensional rift and would that clear a pathway for the return of Rose? I thought I read she was coming back but I wasn't sure.
I'm only up to Last of The Time Lords and I don't want to know what's coming up so please help me up to this point.
Thanks!

I think it was just a temporal rift, within the same dimension. The Toclafane are from our year 100,000,000,000,000, so there's no need to cross dimensional boundaries.
The Paradox Machine TARDIS was needed in order to make sure the "Cloister Bell" didn't happen and wind up destroying the universe. (Like what almost happened in "Father's Day," when Rose created a paradox.) That way, the human race could still be wiped out in 2009, but also still survive to carry on into the distant future to create the Toclafane. The Master couldn't use such a machine to open a rift to another dimension.
Not to beat your question to death or anything, but it's probably safe to assume that there are many other dimensions besides ours and Rose's, so even if it was a dimensional rift, it's not to say it was one that re-opened the path between ours and Rose's.

jeez I forgot about the Doctor fusing the settings on the TARDIS so the only places to travel were the present and the edge of time. I guess when you think about it that would be a bit of a key to answer my own question.
