It seems like all the greats fall.
And with I Am Legend, I see the same reaction when people say how it was. They pause... they kinda look to the side, they start bobbing their head and squeek out a hesistant, "It.... was good....... it wasn't bad. Will Smith was awesome."
Will his star ever fall? Do you think he'll ever make a movie that everyone hates and then blame him for it?

Will Smith can afford to make a misstep and come back next time. He is that popular. WWW was more the movie's fault and direction than him, because he did the best he could with the material.
"I am Legend" was not a great move...it was just ok, but it was not due to Will's acting ability. His stock has been shooting up since Fresh Prince and I see no signs of him falling. He can afford to make a bad movie here and there however, I hope he doesn't accept anymore bad scripts. "Hancock" appears to be his next big movie...the previews certainly look interesting. Hopefully it won't be another "My Ex-Girlfriend is a superhero" type garbage.
Samuel L. Jackson was the "hot property" of the new millenia there for awhile until he made a string of really bad movies like "Snake on an Airplane" which was terrible and made him lose some of his star power.
Hopefully, Will Smith will not make the same mistake by accepting bad scripts. Denzel is still a hot actor...has been for years. He accepts GOOD scripts.![]()
Fight Like A Robot!
Fun movie trivia. What actor passed up The Matrix because he didn't think it had the potential for success? Yup! Ol' Will Smith was the Wachowski brothers first choice to play Neo, but Smith passed on it. What did he choose to do instead? Wild, Wild, West, which came out in theaters one month after The Matrix in June of 1999.
His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith did show up in the sequels as we all know. Probably because Smith told her, "I effed up. You should go a head and give it a try."![]()

First of all IMO, Samuel L. Jackson couldnt hold Don Cheadle's jock strap...let alone Will Smiths'. And as Family Guy alluded to..Samuel Jackson was in everything, the Fresh Prince over there doesnt appear to want to be in every movie.
Funny thing about I am Legend, I'd say its the one movie thats miles ahead of any "not a great movie" collection Smith seems to have amassed over the years (WWW BB II MIB II).I am Legend" was not a great move...it was just ok, but it was not due to Will's acting ability
