Most uncomfortable opening segment in WWE history.
I think Eddie is spinning in his grave.
He was part of the marketing and Survivor Series did indeed see the return of Edge. The Rated-R Superstar quickly made an impact, disguising himself as a cameraman and costing The Undertaker the World Championship. Tonight Edge will inteview the man he dragged on top of the Dead Man's body, Batista, on The Cutting Edge.
A bitter Edge returns
November 23, 2007
Edge did what he does best at Survivor Series: Shock the world. The bitter Rated-R Superstar returned and cost Undertaker the chance to regain the World Heavyweight Championship during an epic Hell in a Cell encounter, helping Batista retain the gold in the process. What does the Rated-R Superstar’s return signify for all of SmackDown, and why did the outspoken, aggressive former champion target Undertaker? In a WWE Mobile exclusive, Edge claimed he would say all he needed to say on Friday night. WWE.com has learned that the Rated-R Superstar will host The Cutting Edge on SmackDown, and his guest will be none other than the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista. Will Edge explain his actions at Survivor Series? What will Batista have to say about it? And will The Phenom be on hand to make a statement as well?
The United States Champion, MVP, will also be in Tampa, Fla., this Friday to be presented with a gift from the United Nations. SmackDown color commentator JBL will host the special ceremony to honor MVP, and the former U.S. and World Champion has never been short of his praise for the Ballin' Superstar. What will the gift to MVP be? What will JBL have to say to the Franchise Playa? And will MVP have anything to say about his former partner Matt Hardy's surgery earlier this week?
Hornswoggle will face another "tough love test" from Mr. McMahon this Friday on SmackDown, as the illegitimate son of the Chairman will face Mark Henry in one-on-one action. At Survivor Series, Hornswoggle escaped the clutches of The Great Khali with an unlikely assist from Finlay, and on Raw, the leprechaun was once again helped by the Irishman when he defeated Carlito. Will Hornswoggle find another four-leaf clover for victory Friday against the World's Strongest Man?

What a shocking segment that was.
I really did not need to see Vickie and Edge making out. How could they make Vickie into a lover of a superstar? The widow Vickie Guerrero? I guess she was backup for Kristal.
I personally would rather have seen Ashley Masarro as Edge's new girlfriend. She has the Lita look.
Grampa: I say we call Matlock. He'll find the culprit. It's probably that evil Gavin MacLeod or George "Goober" Lindsay.
Bart: Grampa, Matlock's not real.
Grampa: Neither are my teeth, but I can still eat corn on the cob, if someone cuts it off and smushes it into a fine paste. Now that's good eatin'!
New anime series: Wife Stealer Edge.

THIS MONTH'S UPDATE: Christmas Countdown! 25 Christmas songs of interest.
What an ending as Vickie Guerrero got tombstoned by taker. I wodner if this means she'll be written oout as GM and Teddy long will return next week.
Also next week hopefully Edge becomes the new champ, even if his pairing with vickie is very disappointing.
Overall, on ok/good Smackdown.

Vickie seemed like she was actually mad and then she and Edge make out?! Wow, did not expect to see that one. The seemingly incorruptible has been corrupted and we now have our new angle for the return of Teddy Long.
JBL lords over the mic as a only a wrestling god can and Montel Vontavious Porter gets some more bling. That looked like a pretty cool ring.
Rey, we had MVP figured out about the same time he and Matt actually won the Tag Titles, where the hell have you been?
The Majors took an angle the WWE hasn't with John Morrison & The Miz being former reality stars from the actual Tough Enough TV show and The Real World. The last Tough Enough stars standing seem to be getting along a little bit better against Brian & Brett. Perhaps these two massive egos can exist on the same side.
My CW dropped the ball on the commercial break before Kane-Big Daddy V so after seeing them both enter I missed how V gained the initial advantage in the match. Even if I had missed the whole match, I don't know that I would have actually missed anything. Just like Tuesday, this feud isn't anywhere close to being over, despite my not being able to see where it could possibly go.
Mysterio can really hold his own against the heavyweight and we saw that in the ring during his excellent match with MVP. Porter did what he usually does though and found a way to get the win.
Well at least Jesse didn't say "Now that is the face of a John Cena fan." The use of Jesse & Festus to promote the DVD was dang near a Cena insult and I know WWE wouldn't want to do that.
I really don't want Finlay to become a full face, but I am glad they didn't forget about him and Hornswoggle ("Thank you" was a nice moment). The Irishman's interactions with Vince this week have been great. Henry and Khali were the real winners here though.
So Kenny can't beat Chuck Palumbo for probably over a month straight and then Jamie Noble comes out of nowhere to do it?! Well at least this gives Palumbo a loss. Noble once again shows that he's gold with his flirting with Chuck's "friend" Michelle and then blowing her kisses after the bell.
Torrie and Victoria put on a pretty good match in what was basically filler. I guess using two SmackDown Divas who can wrestle isn't too bad as "filler" though. ECW didn't have a very strong presence tonight.
Batista came out and was just angry with Edge! A short burst of intensity is better than a Batista promo so I liked it. I figured we wouldn't even see The Undertaker this week, so I was a little shocked to see him show up. Vickie will be back in that unflattering neckbrace the next time we see her.
I think you two are being way too sensitive here. Vickie Guerrero is an on-screen character just as much as her husband Eddie was. You need to take the personal, "real" element out of it. I say this each and every time, but Vickie is obviously trying to support her two daughters and Eddie's daughter. Vince McMahon gave her the chance to do it. I don't think Eddie is spinning in his grave. I think it's more likely he's happy to see his wife willing to put herself out there and be a part of the WWE, whether that means doing some acting with Edge or stunts with the Undertaker. She could be hiding in her house, refusing to go outside, but she's cleary stronger than that.
Ashley doesn't run SmackDown, it seems pretty clear to me that power is the motivation here. At some point, Edge will dump Vickie when she is no longer needed/useful. And if Matt Hardy or Ashley was given any say at all, I would expect key would prefer not to see her making out with Edge weekly. With what happened in real life before the fake angle last time, I'd like to think that not even WWE would be that cruel.

The WWE Big Question™ #67 - 2011 Awards — WWE NXT 5 — WWE Superstars
What worked:
Not much. Miz & Morrison had what amounted to an old school TV squash beating the Majors. Jamie Noble beats Chuck Palumbo while dialing up 2003 for a storyline with Michelle McCool.
What didn't work:
Vicki Guerrero as a lovesick schoolgirl making out with Edge, the Fred Garvin of the WWE. She paid for her duplicity rather quickly, and I hope this means Teddy Long returns next week. If not, either we're stuck with J-Me-L filling in, or Armando Estrada, who's been missing from ECW lately, does. Having Stephanie return for 1 night, though, would be even better.
If you're an old school Saturday Night Live fan, you might get the Fred Garvin reference as it relates to Edge. If not, I've got a more recent one for you. Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo. I think you get the idea.![]()

Memo to Nelson Knight (Big Daddy V). Jenny Craig doesn't like the fact you're not returning calls. From Kirstie Alley.
J-Me-L calls Jamie Noble "wall-to-wall dumb"? Can't be that dumb if he beat Palumbo.
Edge and Vickie Guerrero making out was very shocking to say the least.
Mysterio and MVP put on a great match. The ending was the usual heel ending but at least it opened up the possibility of a rematch.
Batista ruining the "Cutting Edge" was great. You know it's a good promo when Batista only says a sentence or two.
As for Vickie getting tombstoned does that mean she's being written out of Smackdown? Wouldn't it be hilarious is Jamie Noble end's up being the interim Smackdow G.M.?![]()
You heard the part you wanted to hear and then apparently stopped listening, JBL agreed with Cole that Noble has strong in-ring skill. He was more referring to Noble's recent interactions with Vickie and now with Michelle. Anyone who manages to talk his way into matches with Undertaker, Batista and The Great Khali can't be all that sharp.

The WWE Big Question™ #67 - 2011 Awards — WWE NXT 5 — WWE Superstars
Okay, so now Jamie's being recast as a stereotyped dumb hick. Yes, I know Cole & J-Me-L talked up how tough Noble is and all that. I'd rather they played up how he came close on 2 occasions to beating CM Punk, proving his worth as a possible world title contender. But they don't want to acknowledge that Jamie's been a "world champion" for another organization (Ring of Honor). He's one of the few bright spots on Smackdown right now. Whatever happened to his "redneck messiah" gimmick that he had before he came to WWE the first time in 2002? That would get over now, methinks.
I don't see how this is that much different. Noble seems pretty much the same to me, he's just talking more. Back then, some of his clever plans worked (using Nidia to get at The Hurricane and his Cruiserweight Title, getting Billy Gunn to put Torrie on the line), now he's getting cocky and they backfire. It's not like he was a brilliant strategist when Josh Mathews exclusively was calling him the "redneck messiah."

I understand your point, and she is a strong woman. I guess I just don't like the unsavoriness of the angle, and Vickie will (unfairly, I know) forever be seen in the eyes of most fans as Eddie's widow. I will admit that it was all well done, but it personally just bothered me. If this is going to pave the way for Long to come back, then it's fine, but if they plan on dragging this out then I think I will be sick. But it's just me.Originally Posted by The Penguin
