    Like This Thread!
No new movie this weekend could earn first or second place. But the two films that competed for first last weekend have switched places. Bee Movie who debuted in second place last weekend moved up to take first place this weekend with $26 million and a $72.2 million total.

Last weeks champ American Gangster dropped one spot to second with $24.3 million and a $80.6 million total.

Debuting in third place was Fred Clause with $19.2 million.

Also debuting was Lions for Lambs which came in fourth with $6.7 million.

And roudning out the top 5 is Dan in Real Life with $5.8 million and a $30.6 million total.

Out of the top 12 this weekend is Gone Baby Gone (13th), and The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D (18th) which leaves with an impressive $14 million.

All i can say is Lions for Lambs got Pwned

Kinda suprising, kinda not that Bee Movie topped American Gangster. Suprised both of em made 20Mil+ over the weekend(I had Fred Calus at 14Mil)

Prediction: Beowulf, Bee Movie, Gangster, Fred Claus/Mr.Magorium Tie for 4th) for Top 5

Again another surprise, I did not expect Bee Movie to overtake American Gangster let alone claim number 1 over Fred Claus (considering all the advertising they've thrown at us and all).

P.S. FOR CHRISSAKE GO SEE GONE BABY GONE!

I wanted to a couple weeks ago, but my friends wouldn't listen and we saw We Own the Night instead. Yeah, that was unfortunate. I was not a happy man.

This weekend, saw American Gangster with friends. My dad wanted to see something, and I suggested Gone Baby Gone, but he and my mom didn't like Mystic River and didn't want to take a chance on this one.

So I'm not sure I'll end up seeing GBG at the theater. If I have time, maybe. I'd like to.

    What is P2?

Anyway, next weekend is a double weekend for me, as both Hitman and Beowolf are out. I predict Beowolf will be #1. Hitman will be around 7.

i don't know. Bee Movie might be #1 or American Gangster can rise up from the ashes and be resurrected to #1 instead.

Is Emporium just a kids' movie, or does it have stuff for everyone? I can't remember the last time I liked a live action G-rated film but the premise sounds fun.

And it's Dominic Keating, not "Keatings," who provides a voice in Beowulf. (Malcom Reed on Enterprise, and also had a recent guest stint on Prison Break.)

Are you serious? The trailer I saw weeks ago said Nov 16th.

Have you read reviews? It's at 93% at RT and sounds like one of the year's best.

Haven't seen an ad for that one yet. ....A parking garage? How is that spooky? There's no place for the killer to hide! Other than behind one of the pillars, or something....and even then, there's plenty of room to move around them, so he couldn't jump out at her.

I have seen ads for Hitman. As usual, looks like an awful video game movie. Since when does that guy know karate?

In a way, I'm both disappointed and happy at the failure of Fred Claus. Disappointed in that the movie was actually pretty good. Happy in that hopefully this will show Hollywood that Christmas movies should come out around...oh, I don't know...Christmas. Not early November so that, by the time people are actually into the whole Holiday thing, the movies already gone out of theaters.

Agent 47 is a top killer, so he should have no reason to know karate. Just because he can't go Stranglehold in the games does not mean he should not be able to in a movie.

Anyway, video game movies have been pretty... uh... missing this year. All we had was DoA, which sucked and REE, which could have been so much better had they made it more like Apocalypse in style. Hitman has to be good, but the actor better know how to pull off silent acting skills.

I would be hard-pressed to think of any movie based on a video-game that's any good, with the possible exception of Square's woefully misunderstood Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which was not originally based on a game in the first place.

It's gotten so little fanfare that I haven't heard much about it; evidently, I should check it out.

Well...uh. He like...locks her in the parking garage/building and cuts the power, etc. etc. The trailer got a few jumps from people the few times I've seen it in a theater (the theater I work at has been showing this trailer ad-nauseum despite the fact we didn't even get the movie) - but the overall feel seems to be rather generic.

    There ya go.

Fred Claus is a film that doesn't know what it wants to be. It's almost as if they made a pretty great X-mas film, then found it wasn't 'kiddy' enough and went back and kiddied it up (cartoon sound effects? What?). There are glimmers of greatness in the movie - things that really make it a solid and fun film...but unfortunately the generic TV ads promote it just as it exists. Which is a shame since I was looking forward to a film more in-line with what teaser trailer suggested.

Also god- the elf 'special effects' of CG-pasting actors heads onto little-people's bodies is awful! I literally had to close my eyes every time they showed the Ludicrous elf because it was nauseatingly 'off'.

    ....and because it was Ludicrous.

Spirits Within was boring garbage. All it was was giant eye candy (kinda like FFVII).

And here are great video game movies:

    Mortal Kombat
    Mortal Kombat Annihilation
    Resident Evil
    Resident Evil Apocalypse
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (well, mostly for the eye candy rather than the messed up plot that was already screwed in the game)
Silent Hill - BEST VIDEO GAME MOVIE EVER!!! This is the Batman Begins of video game movies.
    Fatal Fury the Motion Picture

Ok, the fact that you actually put Mortal Kombat Annihilation under a list of good video game movies makes it really hard to take your list seriously.

This list is from a guy who finds Ghost Rider more entertaining than Borat. I don't think his opinions generally match up with mainstream critical response.
