I think I can say for the first time ever since I started keeping track of the box office "What the hell is this movie and why have I never heard of it till just now?"

I know the fall is a crappy time for movies, but sheesh, did this only get ads on the urban-oriented channels and programming?
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

I did see Tyler Perry on The Tonight Show last week to promote it, but that was it. I think I've only see one TV spot for it, around 1AM.

And make Eva Mendez wonder if the nude scene she has been plugging 24-7 for the last few weeks is really only worth $11 million.

How bizarre that Janet Jackson, now-famous for flashing a single nipple at America, is in a #1 movie. While a movie where Eva Mendez flashes a single nipple is just a few spots away from being out of the top 5.

I'm a bit thrown by this We Own the Night looks really good and has gotten a lot for promotion from at least my lounge chair. Number four is tremendously disappointing.

Hoorah for Heartbreak Kid bombing. That'll teach the Farelly's to take a classic film and make it into a grossout comedy.

Next week, I'll definately try to go see the Comebacks. Unlike Date Movie and Epic Movie, this one actually looks like it might be funny.

What's the deal with these Tyler Perry movies? They seem to come out of absolutely nowhere and then seem to do pretty well for themselves at the box office.

I'm all for Gone Baby Gone next week. Mystic River was a favorite of mine and this has a more epic feel to it.

Michael Clayton was somewhat numbing, but it had a great ending though.

    1. When did this even get advertised?
    2. What do people like about Tyler Perry?

His House of Payne series is on the unfunniest "sitcoms" I've ever seen. Many of the jokes and "funny" stuff is just so lame an eight year old could write something funnier. The awful canned audience laughter doesn't help, either. I burst out laughing one day when an ad contained a quote from some critic comparing it to The Cosby Show.

No, the commercial was played on every outlet on every channel in the country and not just on BET. Just because you weren't watching the commercials or refused to look at it doesn't mean it wasn't on NBC broadcasting.

We Own the Night is among the worst films I've seen all year - and I've seen a bunch of them. I personally recommend seeing something else, anything else, but that's the best I can do from my spot. It's not that it was horribly acted or anything - it was just....well awful. I don't think I've sat through a movie wondering when it'd be over as much as I was wondering it in this movie - and I saw Scary Movie 4.

I do agree. I've seen the commericals for it on TBS and it certainly made me not want to turn in. Having seen two Tyler Perry movies, Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea's Family Reunion, it was a bit stunned he could helm something that bad. Guess that's television for ya. I haven't decided whether or not to go see his latest. Not the biggest fan of Janet Jackson these days.

It's obvious people are going to see his stuff, and not just black people. Even if every black person in the country went to see this it still wouldn't hit number one.

Does she have a nude scence that she's been hyping or something?
Not it will most likely do any good, but I encourage any interested parties to sign this petition.

Next thing you know, Janet Jackson's doing a movie about her life. In all honesty, House of Payne is coming out on DVD later on this year so Lionsgate will be looking forward into how much money this "unfunny" show will take in DVD sales. Shoot, be on the lookout if that gun-toting granny returns to the box office next year.

Plus, watch out for Perry's next show: Meet the Browns. Hopefully, that will be funnier than the dreck that is House of Payne.
