In the wake of tragedy

At the end of Raw last week, Mr. McMahon was presumed killed in a horrific limo explosion — a moment that will forever taint what was otherwise an historic WWE Draft. As Raw heads into the Coliseum in Richmond, Va. this Monday night, its Superstars must cope with the fact that WWE’s Chairman is for all intents gone, his body seemingly lost in the flames that engulfed his limousine.

It’s hard to focus past the black cloud that has encircled World Wrestling Entertainment all week long. No one will speak ill of the deceased, though it was apparent after last week’s “Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night” that many of WWE’s Superstars, our fans and numerous celebrities saw him as a pathetic, power-mad dictator. But now that he’s gone, what exactly does he leave behind? And how will it affect Raw’s Superstars in Richmond this Monday night?

As for the WWE Draft itself, last week Raw said goodbye to The Great Khali, Torrie Wilson, Chris Masters and Ric Flair; however Raw also welcomed its newest Superstars to the roster: King Booker, Queen Sharmell, Snitsky, Mr. Kennedy and Bobby Lashley. Needless to say, all will have a profound impact on Raw in the coming weeks. However, Lashley — who was stripped of his ECW World Title after being randomly selected in the Draft — is planning to make his mark a little quicker than the rest. He had already established a strong Raw presence during his rivalry with Mr. McMahon over the past few months; does he have an advantage over the other “newcomers” as they enter the Richmond Coliseum this Monday?

In the ashes of tragedy, life begins anew on Raw, Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network.

I'm not surprised by the lack of tribute to Sherrie Martel.

Looks like a good ol' fashioned who dunit angle now. King Booker saved the opening segment while Cena ruined it with his lame rap or poem or whatever.

ANOTHER 3-HOUR RAW????? Talk about overkill.

Londonrick/WGTT was way too short to be great. it would've been double the length if it was on Smackdown. I like how they mentioned London smiling from last week.

I love how the Quizno's Baja Chicken sub has gotten more of a mention than Sensational Sherri.

The death angle is running out of steam, and fast. Randy Orton basically got a cheap pop when he interrupted Foley's stupid speech about apologizing. That just shows you how tired the average fan is getting of this.

And THEN we're supposed to be excited about the Championship Challenge? Which is happening THIS Sunday? With basically ZERO build-up? Gee, I'm trying to figure out how we're supposed to be able to pay like forty frakkin' dollars for a pay-per-view that actually has a GREAT ORIGINAL CONCEPT but is just playing second fiddle to a FAKE DEATH. I mean, I liked the idea at first, to be honest. I thought it would be an interesting way to move Vince McMahon OUT of the picture and concentrate on, y'know, those people in the tights that fight each other. Now I think I'd rather have him on screen.

If Coach doesn't give the Iron Sheik a talk show on RAW, Sheiky should suplex him, put him in a Camel Clutch, Brreak his back, make him humble, until he respects the Iron Sheik. He would make excellent, excellent addition to RAW.

The Sheik show? sounds interesting. Looks like Regal is going to start feud with Santino, looks like the IC belt is going to have another good feud hopefully.

Out of all the superstars that came over to RAW, we now have seen all but Snitsky at some point tonight. I guess the freak from ECW doesn't get a showing unless he runs in during the main event. Then again, a show without Snitsky really isn't missing anything.

So Lindsey and King Booker have never faced each other eh? That's funny, Lindsey and Booker T had a big feud LAST YEAR which included Booker ebating Lindsey to become King of the ring. Its like very little continuity exists in the WWE universe these days.

If Iron Sheik gets a talk show, and they book him to interview either Ultimate Warrior or B. Brian Blair on a PPV, I would pay $40 for that alone.

Well, the billion-dollar princess returned to RAW. Awful voice and all. I don't like how even the wwe title is 2nd fiddle to the McMahon mystery.

Overall, a passable RAW. But I think tomorrow's ECW will be better with 2 guaranteed very good matches.

Awesome new finisher from Melina. I think that used to be one of those finishers Big Show used for like a month before forgetting it and going back to the chokeslam (Minus the split, of course).

My power went out about an hour into the show, but I did catch the ending. Stephanie's almost as good at acting as her dad even though her voice is worse than Jillian's.

Vince's daughter's appearance made me realize that HHH could be added to the list of prime suspects.

Given the circumstances it's probably the best thing they can do. The timing is just so bad. Mixing Sherri's real death with Vince's fake death would've been really awkward, and I think they found the right place for the tribute. It was approximately the same amount of time they give to other non-active wrestler deaths, too.
