    Comparing the Superman & Spider-Man movie franchises

    Like This Thread!
    -In "Superman," Clark Kent loses his father figure, Jonathan Kent, before leaving to don a red and blue costume and become Superman.
    -In "Spider-Man," Peter Parker loses his father figure, Ben Parker, before leaving to don a red and blue costume and become Spider-Man.

    -Before dying, Jonathan gives Clark an inspirational talk, telling him "One thing I do know, son, you are here for a reason."
    -Before dying, Uncle Ben gives Peter an inspirational talk, telling him "With great power comes great responsibility."

    -In "Superman," Lois Lane meets Superman for the first time when he catches her mid-air after she falls from a high building.
    -In "Spider-Man," Mary Jane meets Spider-Man for the first time when he catches her mid-air after she falls from a high building.

    -In "Superman II," Lois Lane learns that Clark Kent is really Superman (she forgets by the end of the movie).
    -In "Spider-Man 2," Mary Jane learns that Peter Parker is really Spider-Man (she still remembers at the end).

    -In "Superman II," Clark Kent loses his powers and gives up being Superman in order to be with his love, Lois Lane.
    -In "Spider-Man 2," Peter Parker loses his powers and gives up being Spider-Man in order to be with his love, Mary Jane.

    -In "Superman III," a potential new love interest for Clark is introduced, Lana Lang.
    -In "Spider-Man 3," a potential new love interest for Peter is introduced, Gwen Stacy.

    -In "Superman III," Superman turns into a darker, more violent version of himself after being exposed to synthetic kryptonite.
    -In "Spider-Man 3," Spider-Man turns into a darker, more violent version of himself after being exposed to an alien symbiote.

    Didn't SR make a bit more than that? I swear, I don't get it; it was no masterpiece, but didn't think it was that bad, I really didn't.

    $200,081,192 domestic.

    No, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't the kind of thing people expect from a summer blockbuster, and it probably didn't play well enough with the kind of demographic that's likely to come back for repeat viewings.
