You've seen it already??? Dude, you have the best job in the world!
I'm really looking forward to it. I keep thinking about the teasers when Lex says to Clark "I knew you had some secrets to hide" or something to that effect. Oh the possibilities.
Well, I just watched "Hug" which is tonights ep..
Clean feeds are gude
Anyway, for what I saw (cause I also had to use that monitor to set up the Noon News LIve shots, plus it's cold, and our transmitter's freezing - meaning we're adjusting our power levels...Not Fun.
Anyway, i enjoyed the ep, it was well done, and had some neat effects...though I missed

most of what I missed was the last 1/4 of the show...only saw bits & pieces of it. The nice thing was there weren't any commercials (just 5 secs of Black) so it went by much faster.
I'll say this much...Clark isn't just shot at this episode...it really starts to explore his "invulnerability"
Spoiler:
And that's a semi-real spoiler that you won't get off of the promos, so don't look at it if you want part of the end of the show to be a surprise.
Wow, Smallville's getting better and better!![]()
A lot of good things here, even though there was a Kryptonite villain again. My fav. moments were Chloe kissing Clark when she was forced to show all her feelings toward Clark and at the end, where Clark asks Lex if they're going to end up like enemies, and Lex replies there "friendship" will be a legend. Oooh, loved that end.![]()
"We could have changed the world...NOW...look at us...I've become a political liability...and you...you're a JOKE...I want you...to REMEMBER, Clark...in all the years to come...in your most private moments...I want you to remember MY HAND...AT YOUR THROAT...I want...you to remember...the one man who BEAT you...." - Batman to Superman in DKR
my Fav line was "I don't want a job where I have to put on a suit and fly around"
that was GREAT!
The above line about what job he wants and the "Our friendship will be the stuff of legends" lines were awesome. Someone should put together a list of all the inuendos and lines related to Clarks future together.
I thought the episode was good. I too liked the notion that he his not as invulnerable as he will be. My one little nitpick was how Lana went after Clark about his not defending Whitney. After last weeks episode. She should not be so quick to think that Clark hates Whitney.
This episode was great. And the best part about it, was the last line of the show. About how Lex says they will be friends forever. "Legends."
This just brings many questions to my head like, "How does Lex not know Clark is Superman?" And those types of questions.
All in all this episode goes down as number 3. Last week number 2 and Jitter's was number 1.
"Don't stick your tongue out at me unless you're going to use it, baby!" David Lee Roth
I really enjoyed this episode, even though it ended up to be a Kryptovillan. I especially liked Kyle and wish he could be around more in the future - "You've got a gift, Clark. Go out and do something with it."![]()
Lots of foreshadowing happening ("Don't want to wear a suit and fly around" LMAO!). The two 'villians' started out as friends, then one became evil and one good. Hmmm...wonder what that could mean?
The whole Whitney thing was bothersome. Whitney threatened Kyle right in front of Clark without any persuassion. Why didn't Clark mention that to the cops or to Lana?
Chloe was pretty funny - "And why does my mouth taste minty?"
One nitpick: Clark is a freshman as established in the pilot. Unless he was held back a few years, that'd make him around 15. So why is he driving a truck - alone - all over town? Are the laws in Smallville a little lenient about letting non-licensed drivers run amuck? Or perhaps one can obtain a driver's license at a much younger age than the rest of the country?

I can't wait until new episode . It's the one when Clark's powers will be handed down to another boy.
Another great episode. Is Clark not yet as powerful as he one day will be, or have they powered him down? I don't remember bullets ever leaving bruises.
Oh, and good point about Clark driving Calico. I never thought of that. I guess I accept it because he sure looks old to be a freshman!
Oh, and to hell with Lana! Go for Chloe!
Ms. Teschmacher: "But Lex, my mother lives in Hackensack!"
Lex glances down at his watch, then back up, and shakes his head.
The part when Lex fighting Clark and making his speech was great. I thought somehow that was going to be Lex's "good to evil" turning point as somehow he may be trapped under the spell. But that was the bad/future Lex talking right there and it was perfectAlso, I think since Clark is only a teenager, he still hasn't fully developed his powers yet, that's why the bullets left bruises.
I thought that this was a great episode to see, definetly one of the better ones. Two krypto-induced people this time, and one is bad and one isn't! I loved the foreshadowing that they had in the beginning and end. Well, it's foreshadowing for Superman fans who know everything that goes on between Clark and Lex. Like in the beginning how Clark says, in regards to a job "as long as it doesn't involve wearing a suit and flying", and at the end when, concerning their friendship, Lex says "our friendship will a legend" (or something along those lines). I enjoy it when they put these kinds of thing in, makes the show that much more fun to watch. It was great to see Chloe actually kiss Clark, and to actually see Clark and Lana get in a fight....the "perfect, sugary" friendship that they had going was getting a bit old, to me at least. Augh, I hate it when it says that previews of next weeks ep will be up next, but then they go to commercials and stuff. And everytime I switch to a different channel, for like 10 seconds, I come back and they've already played the preview, grrr!!!

leaf on the wind...
I thought this was a great ep, extremely suspenseful. There's very few shows out there that can build such suspense from minute to minute as well as Smallville. It's funny how I didnt see the parallels between the two friends and Lex and Clark until Lex's last line about their friendship being the stuff of legends. Shoot why did they have to make their characters so darn likeable? It's gonna be a killer once Lex turns to that dark side.
That would be awesome. Another foreshadowing line that no one has mentioned yet was when Kyle told Clark, "Some people weren't meant to have a normal life."Originally posted by DR.MID-NITE

Maybe she feels the events of the last episode have made Clark resent Whitney.Originally posted by DR.MID-NITE

wuh oh
Lame-donkey title aside, this may be one of the better episodes this season...better than the last couple.
We see two men enhanced by kryptonite who use their talents vastly different ways--one abuses it, manipulates people to kill themselves or kill for him or tear apart their lives/those of others; the other chooses seclusion and stoically refuses to employ his talents.
Hypnotism, for those who know anything about psychology, basically acts upon a person's subconscious--it can enhance what is already there and drive it to the fore. Chloe kisses Clark because she wants to; Jonathan sells the farm because subconciously he wants to get rid of a financial millstone about his neck; the paperpusher kills himself because he's entertained the thought previously but repressed it; Lex attacks Clark becaue that resentment, suspicion, and hate is in the back of his mind (making his remark in the end about a legendary friendship darkly foreshadowing/ironic) and needs an outlet. Give a hypnotized vegetarian a hot dog and and tell him it's a hot dog; he'll resist. Tell him it's a carrot; he'll eat it. So this man isn't putting new ideas in anyone's head; he's merely stirring up whatever demons are there.
We learn Clark isn't wholly invulnerable; bullets bruise him like rocks would us. Also, note when the club smashes on his chest--that must've bruised too--he flinches to protect his eyes from shards (note in one ep of the animated series he goes temporarily blind from having paint sprayed in them; even as an adult his eyes seem to be his weakest point).
And Lana only argued with Clark because she loves him. I mean, she's always loved him, even in the comics (the Whitey thing and the Clark-as-moony-unrequited-lover is about as inexplicable as Lana's son in the third movie).
I agree that his eyes are a weak point, but I think it was a laser not paint (unless he was blinded in more than one ep...which is entirely possible....course, now we're drifting OT...ack! they're out to get me!Originally posted by DR. BELCH

Really nice episode, but I always have to find something to pick on, so here goes!
The special effects used at the end of the episode started to seem cheesy. How many times can we see Clark dodge a bullet before we start to figure out how they film it? I just kept thinking, "Everyone moves in slow motion as they shoot it, then they slow it down even more by computer and add in the bullets!" I don't really enjoy something while I'm busy figuring it out...
Oh, and as for all those "classic lines" that everyone keeps saying they enjoy so much, I'm starting to get tired of them. How many times can we hear jokes about Clark becoming Superman or Lex and he having "a friendship that legends are made of"??? Every now and again is Ok, but now we're hearing them four or five times an episode! "Don't salt your salad, the dressing already has enough in it!" as my mother would say!
The Chloe kiss just came a little too fast, and I felt cheated. They've been careful to build up the tension between her, Clark and Lana, but then they blew it out the window and threw in a kiss. Sure, I liked seeing it but, I think they could have found a better way to integrate her feelings for Clark than as a simple stunt. She'd better start acting really embarassed around Clark from now on or I'll start screaming "Bad continuity!"
The freak of the week was decent, though Clark is really starting to bother me. Isn't this guy supposed to value human life??? The "bad guy" dies, and he doesn't even blink. It's just "Ok, now let's go smile at Lana" from him. I also finally saw Tom Welling for the twenty-something he is. Maybe it was just the lighting or the angle of the shot, but twice in the episode I stopped and stared, finally realizing that he is in his twenties.
And why the heck was it called "Hug"...? There's another one for the wall of wierd, Chloe!
I have to agree with DisneyBoy on several counts on this episode.
I loved and hated this episode at the same time. I loved the fact that we got to see a story with a different formula (for the most part...we still had a Kryptonite enhanced geek and Clark ripping off doors) and I loved the tension in this episode and how the plot built up and I loved the opposites of the villians and heroes in this episode, the interaction between Clark and Lex, and more. I hated the predictability of the episode. You can almost tell when you are going to get some "clever" line about Clark's future (the flying in a suit line this time. Sorry, but that WAS lame!) and you knew very early on that Lex would be under mind control and that would be what would cause him to shoot at Clark.
Of course, this episode can still set up greater things to come. My favorite parts were when Lex asked Clark why he brought a fugitive to his house, and Clark said, "Because I can trust you." The single look Lex gave Clark was priceless. In that one look, you could see that Lex had serious reservations about how much Clark trusts him. It's like he could feel that it was a lie. And I loved it when Lex asked Clark, "Are you sure I didn't hurt you?" It's almost as if he has repressed memories of shooting Clark, and those repressed memories could very well come out some time in the future.
Now that I think about it, it was a laser...it was the one with the rogue officer in the Robocop-like suit Lexcorp built, and I think Superman had been blasted full in the face. His eyes were blackened for a while (which is why for some reason I thought of paint)and he was defenseless because all he could see was white spots. So Supes can be defeated by something thrown or shot in his eyes...but dunk his head in a river of boiling lava, like Metallo, and he won't get one hair out of place!naraht
...I think it was a laser not paint (unless he was blinded in more than one ep...which is entirely possible....)
And admittedly the metahumor gets a tad hamhanded at times. But it does look like the writers studied their Freud, as far as the hypnotism thing went....
I was a little surprised at the way Clark took the death of that salesman at the end-I mean, the other guy basicly murdered him. Yeah, I know he was dangerous but Clark didn't even bat an eye. It's like, ho-hum, lemme just step over the dead guy so I can give the guy who killed him a pat on the back. I'm not saying the dude didn't deserve it, it just seemed a bit out of charecter for our hero to be so lasse'-faire about it.
