New Smallville on the new CW tonight at 8 p.m. ET. Last time was Combat.

Meet Mrs. Sullivan! Here is the official preview from CWTV.com.

    Smallville #6-18 "Progeny"
After Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) discovers Chloe's (Allison Mack) mother Moira (Lynda Carter) has the power to control meteor freaks, he develops a drug to wake her from her catatonic state in the asylum, then threatens to kill Chloe unless she uses her power to help him.

Clark (Tom Welling) helps Chloe break into the asylum to rescue Moira and finally get to know her mother.

Kristin Kreuk, John Glover and Annette O'Toole also star. Genevieve Sparling wrote the episode directed by Terence O'Hare.

Despite Chloe being featured in the episode, I felt a little bored during this one. I suspected Lana's pregnancy might have been faked, though I'll admit that was only my secondary theory. Also, Clark needs to get over his instantly-crippled-by-Kryptonite problem. He should be able to back way in most situations, such as this one, but I don't think the writers would be able to come up with creative ways for Clark to be in danger if they cut back on the "there's Kryptonite within sight" plan.

The upcoming "war" sounds interesting, but I have no doubt it will be like all the other season cliffhangers; no major repercussions that last.

Clark needs to get a job or go to college. Every episode that goes by where he mopes/protects Chloe/gets angry over something and doesn't have a real life makes me like the writers less and less...

I haven't been a fan of the writers for a couple seasons, now. Mainly because I'm still able to say "for a couple seasons, now."

Anyway, tonight's was decent. Good setup for stuff that should have happened a long time ago.

"The war is about to begin."

Hah. LAME. A line that came out of no where, other than the fact that it needed to be dramatic. This is Smallville, and the writers shouldn't kid themselves into thinking they got something else here. Whatever battle they got planned for the finale better have something more creative than two people being shoved around.

I'll admit though that Lex is progressing really well to the dark side. He has truely become the villan we expected him to be when the show started, but I'm finding that his motives are still unclear.

Why is he doing all of this? What's the point of this super army? Is he still doing it to fight off the aliens, or is he just going for world domination now? Also, all this time they've been selling his motives off as an excuse to save the ones that he loves but you don't see any of that tonight. He manipulated Lana to have her for himself, because apparently she's his entire world now, but everything he's doing to her is just pure torture.

I have to admit though, that the fact that Lana was never pregnant was a good twist, and something that I didn't see coming. It works a lot better than the miscarriage thing they were going with, and sets things up for future episodes about the mysterious baby.

I liked the scene between Chloe and Lex at the end in the Planet, but there seems to be a bit of a plot hole with Lex saying that there's no evidence against him. What about the flash drive of information that Chloe took from Lex? Also, Chloe and her mom are practically a witnesses. So is that one wind guy that escaped. And that's just in this episode. Counting previous episodes and the information that Oliver has picked up from destroying Lex's other labs, I'm sure there's enough dirt on Lex to put him in trouble.

Anyway, overall it was a decent episode. The acting flip flopped between actors, and they made a good use of Clark's powers in this one too. Also, it was a plus seeing Clark hesitate for a moment in slow-mo before saving Lex's life.

Yay! Wonder Woman finally appear on Smallville. Sort of.
I must say this was good episode except for Chloe pulling the Kryptonite out of nowhere and Lana landing in the hospital for 100 time. Bwt anyone know where I can find the "Justice and Doom"comics. I couldn't read them on my tv.

This was ok - but I think it's time to wrap this show up. How long can Clark live in that loft? Get a life man! It's time to suit up and start flying!

Back to this episode, why couldn't Clark get his hands on more of the drugs she needed to stay out of her coma? I know he doesn't like to use his powers to steal, but stealing medicine from Lex to help Chloe's mother? Why wouldn't he do that?

The only good thing about this was Mack's performance as she said goodbye to her mom. That scene would have been awful if Kreuk were in the same place, and it once again proves she's the only competent actor on the series.

Good episode for both Chloe and Lex. I liked Chloe's concern over her mother and the goodbye at the end was sad. Lex being evil and calculating was great.

I guess now we know why Lana didn't show despite being "pregnant" for months and months.

Back away from the kryptonite? I don't know how consistent it is, but Chloe put the rock on top of him, and he was probably too weak to throw it very far or walk/crawl away. And then he passed out.

Can that Chloe prove that drive was Lex's? Mrs. Sullivan can hardly be considered a reliable source, and considering Chloe's recent rampage, she may not be either. Lex seems pretty clean in this case, but you may be right about Oliver.

Was anyone else creeped out by young Chloe?

Yes, once the rock was on top of him, I can see the problem. However, IIRC, Chloe was on the other side of the room when she opened the container. Clark fell right over. Sometime we've had Clark walk into rooms full of Kryptonite and just collapse. Once Kryptonite enters the picture, it's always all over for Clark until someone helps him. Now I realize this version of Clark Kent is NOT Superman. Not now, not ever (they could call him that by name, but it would just be the name, not the person). Yet, I'll still point out that Superman would not be so easily defeated by Kryptonite on such a regular basis. The problem seems to be that this Clark is neither strong enough (in the mental sense) nor smart enough to get around the Kryptonite problem and also suffers from poor writing.

This episode was okay, but it wasn't Smallville at its best. The best part of it, I thought, was the mini comic shown during the commercial break where the "League" was destroying Lex's facilities. I guess they have a reason to return to Metropolis now though, since Lex has a new one by Metropolis.

I'm guessing Chloe's powers might have something to do with vehicles, but I guess we'll have to wait some time to discover out, if we ever find out what her power is. The entire mom controlling deal was okay, but I would like to know how the two of them got the kryptonite poisoning in the first place. At least in season one we saw what happened with each person.

So, can someone please explain something to me? At one point, Mrs. Sullivan told Chloe that she admitted herself to the mental hospital to keep Chloe safe... once she saw what she made Chloe do to her hands when she was washing them over and over, she knew Chloe would only be safe if she was away from her. This would imply that Mrs. Sullivan didn't really have a mental illness.

So.... if that was the case, then why does she keep slipping into a catatonic state? That would imply that she really does have a mental illness. This seemed inconsistant to me.

Given that the doctors probably assumed she was delusional, they might have put her on some medications. Given the amount of time she was in there and the fact her delusion, being true, was uncured (thus resulting in the doctors changing medications in the hopes of finding one that works), it's not surprising she developed some problems. Sadly, there are plenty of real life examples of people getting worse as the result of being committed.

Yeah, that advert comic book was the best part of the show. But really, even the comic book wasn't that good; it was simply good in comparison to Smallville. There was more action in that short comic book than the whole episode of the show! The only semi-cool moment was when Clark grabbed the evidence from under Lex's car at super-speed.

As for the dramatic parts, they were beyond lame; they were stupid. The only solution for Chloe's mom is to go back into a coma? WTF?! Clark alone can accomplish a lot but Clark and Chloe together could probably do just about anything. As cliche as it would have been, they should have just had Chloe's mom die somehow if the writers wanted her gone. It would have been a lot more believable.

Three stars for the advert comic book. One star for the episode.

    Bones: "My will...will not die."

    ***1/2

Ugh, I thought this episode was terrible and I haven't been nearly as hard on Smallville the past couple of seasons as some people have.

Chloe as a meteor freak and her mom being all weird were too much for me. I have really liked Chloe and I feel like this is just ruining her. I guess I can understand them wanting to involve her more, but I detest this being the way.

The reveal that Lana was never pregnant was a good one and speaks volumes about how long Lex has been pretty much manipulating her.

Overall though this episode had one thing going for it, it gave some set up potential that earned the episode another 1/2 star...

I wonder if Clark will find out Lana was never pregnant next week, considering he and Lex get trapped in a cave.
