    "Drive" Season One Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!
Did anyone else on the forum catch this show on FOX? Its 2-hour premiere was Sunday, April 15th, and was also on again last night. According to the ads, Monday at 8:00 will be its normal day and time.

Personally, I enjoyed the premiere, and only got to catch about half of last night's episode. It was nice to hear the name of a city near my own (that city being Ashland, Ky.)

I have hopes for this drama. I enjoy the fact that it's not centered around supernatural mysteries, like Heroes and Lost (though both shows are good in their own right). Here's to hoping it doesn't get cancelled!

I caught all three hours and really enjoyed it. Granted, there's a bit of supsension of belief (how do "they" have people everywhere?) but it's pretty awesome. I love the mix of characters.

Plus, MAL! :anime: What's not to like.

Haven't heard anything about the ratings yet, though. Hope it was good enough to get a full season (unless this is midseason replacement or something..)

I think I read somewhere that it is a mid-season replacement, but I don't know what that means

And yes, the mix of characters is grand! My personal favorites so far are the father who's dying (I'm not too familiar with the names yet) and the "Orientation Man".

I really enjoyed this show! The episode on Mon. was a little bit slower untill we got in that black car and really kicked some butt!

The problem is, now whenever I get on the freeway I have the urge to start weaving in and out of traffic at 100 MPH. Anyone else have this problem?

That just means it's a new show that started in the middle of the TV season, it's not a cause for concern. It it performs well, it will likely be renewed and placed on the fall schedule.

Good point. I was wondering why I felt compelled to watch this, and now I know why. There are at least five more supernatural dramas coming this fall, all of which tread familiar ground.

It's even more far-fetched than Prison Break, but what makes or breaks a show like this isn't the premise, but the characters. IMO the characters have to be interesting enough from the get-go, and they can't be flat stereotypes.

The good news is, they're not. Each character has an interesting background (except for the three women in the truck) and I want to see what happens to all of them--though the main title sequence spoils a couple of things if you look closely.

    Spoiler:
Violet is alone in her car.

A few of the people (like the main male lead that wants his wife back) are terrible actors, so the show isn't perfect. But most importantly, it keeps up its pace well enough to replace Prison Break effectively. I didn't know if I was going back to that rebooted show this fall, and if this does well enough, I won't have to.

I really wanted to check this out, I really did. But FOX had to give us a two-hour premiere? On a Sunday night? Sorry, but I just can't take that kind of time right now. I'll be collecting episodes to watch in a big batch down the line. I saw the latter half of last night's ep and it looks really interesting, so here's hoping.

I like the acting of the man who plays Alex (Nathan Fillion, thanks silverwings), but my biggest gripe is with the newborn's mother character. I don't know if it's the character herself, or the way the actress executes the role, she annoys me. Of course, I suppose this could be the character's purpose at the moment, but I would hope that's not the case.

I haven't watched "Prison Break", so I can't comment on its pacing, but I will agree that thus far this show is paced very well, although Monday's episode was a tad slower than the first two. In a series based around a car race, I don't think we should expect many to be slow paced episodes. Like I mentioned, I have hope for this series, and think they will prove to be satisfying.

Watched all three episodes today taped in a mini-marathon, and I think it's okay. Not impressive, but I guess I'll keep watching for the moment.

I'm not really invested in any of the characters, but they did a decent job considering at one point the guy who gives them all the information states via cell phone that there are 42 racers at the start... thank goodness they didn't introduce them all at once. At the same time, that might mean some of these early racers won't be lasting long...

Am I wrong in thinking that the girl who plays Violet looks like Lindsey Lohan? You know, before all the tabloid crap she's been doing? She's cute...

I should be thrilled by a racing show, but it hasn't grabbed me just yet. It's got a couple weeks... let's see how things shake out.

I watched it for Nathon Filiion, and overall thought it was pretty entertaining and a good time waster. Unfortunately so far it's been a bomb in the ratings, so who knows how long it will last.

That's so unfortunate. A drama worth watching finally appears, and chances are it'll get canned. You know, I do so hate the act of shows getting cancelled after only just a few episodes, but it seems it has become commonplace among all of the major networks. Television needs more faith =/

So, instead of "Drive" we might get to see the birth of the latest reality show hit in the coming weeks!

    ¡JAM!

P.S. Thanks to the moderator who fixed the thread title for me. A question...does posting "spoilers" in the title mean nobody has to use spoiler tags? I don't know how to use them

Provided you are discussing stuff that has happened and aired on TV, no. If you're bringing in things that you have read that are going to happen and haven't aired yet, spoiler tags should be used to be considerate of those who want to watch the show without it being spoiled.

When I saw the previews for this show I thought it looked pretty bad. I was slightly interested because I liked Firefly.

After watching this show my suspicions were confirmed, I really don't like it this show. It feels like a mashup of other movies and reality tv shows. The first three hours were really predictable. Speaking role? Not in the race? Probably one of them.

The highway looked too consistent through the beginning, and inconsistent with the location they are supposed to be in.

Logistical question, do these cellphones ever need to get charged?

Probably will get canceled. Fortunately, I don't care who wins.

The newest episode premiered last night. Did anyone else catch it? I for one am continuing to support the show, and really do hope cancellation isn't in its future.

Although the lack of the father/daughter team was saddening, I must say I enjoyed the chemistry among the Alex/lady partner/Brothers characters, and hope the partnership lasts atleast a few more episodes before the eventual split-up.

The return of the two females in the red care was a welcome surprise, and the ending being laced with cliffhangers, although a trait familiar with Lost and Heroes, seems to be effective because the show seems to be answering them on a timely basis.

(I really need to learn the character's names)

The high point of this one was right after the "banished" girls got hit and survived.

    "Are you okay?"
"Yeah....I think we're---" *WHAM AGAIN!!!* *commercial for a cell phone*

Here's something interesting: if you pay close attention to Fox's opening bumper for this series, you'll see everyone's driver's licenses. Corrina's is the only one that has no state; hers just says "Anywhere, USA."

This is also the first episode that didn't end with the characters crossing the finish line. It's anyone's guess if the military couple will.

I didn't think Ivy could drive, either. 9_9

And it's gone. Variety is reporting today that Fox has pulled drive from the schedule due to low ratings.
