YEAH! The first movie was awesome. It was so cheesy I hope the second is on the same level of weirdness.

I read on IGN that it's not a sequal but a remake, or better yet retry, like the 05 Fantastic Four.

The original movie came off too much like a cheap japanese sentai and was an absolute embarassment to the western franchise and hollywood action flicks in general. The only good thing I'll say about that movie was that the late Raul Julia was just fantastic as Bison. No actor today can possibly hold a candle to Julia's performance.

That said, a remake of this movie just wouldn't work because the Street Fighter franchise has already severely waned, the scars of the 90's travesty are still as visible as they were back then, and the storyline is too cheesy for live action. It can work for anime but live action? No.

It's a shame that Raul Julia had to die. He was hands down the best part of the original movie, and a good actor to boot. I don't know who would be good for Bison at this point without him.

If Van Damme returns, I'm there. He's been gone from movie screens for too long. I don't care what anyone says, he's become a much better actor in the last several years, even though his movies have been going DTV. (REPLICANT was awesome!) I liked the first SF. It's no MORTAL KOMBAT, but it's a fun cheesy fightfest.

Though I doubt anything could ever top STREET FIGHTER II: THE ANIMATED MOVIE. Now that was a kick-ass flick. (And I don't even like anime.)
