at Sting channeling Tony Montana. That ruined an acceptable opening segment.

at a REVERSE battle royal. One of the most ridculous things I've ever heard in my life. I know they want to be unique, and cutting-edge, but come on. Such ridculous, idiotic Vince Russo booking.

at Eric Young running around the ring scared.

at Maverick matt dressed up like Raven.

    Bart: Grampa, Matlock's not real.

Grampa: Neither are my teeth, but I can still eat corn on the cob, if someone cuts it off and smushes it into a fine paste. Now that's good eatin'!

People are too quick blame Russo for anything they don't like or don't understand. Keep in mind that TNA is home to the "King of the Mountain" match, which is little more than a reverse ladder match. Hell, they were even describing it that way at one point. If they can do a reverse ladder match, then a reverse battle royale doesn't surprise me.

EDIT: How in the hell did Lance Hoyt pull of the Van Terminator?

I'm not saying he did book it, but confusing things like that are staples of Russo booking. Like the confusion over whatever the hell the seeds were. or how they were seeded. The seeding was pretty silly.

at Lance Hoyt getting the big rub and losing.

The cheesy music was the highlight of the Jarrett segment. I still can't bear much sympathy to him after all the hell he has created during the year or so I watched TNA.

Interesting ending. eerie "Joe is going to Kill You" chants. Eerie considering the mental state of Mr. Angle.

So there were quite a bit of holes that made this, not a great show. Maybe things will pick up after this idiotic tourney is over.

This was a great show. At first I didn't like what the Battle Royale sounded like, but they actually pulled it off quite nicely and when they went down to seven it became awesome. Lance Hoyt really suprised me with some of his moves, and now I'm thinking Abyss might have a shot at finally winning the NWA championship. It's a stretch, considering how often he's "had a chance" but I remember Sting, before he came to TNA, specifically stating that he would like to work with The Monster. Either way, this tournament is bound to be full of great matches and I sense AJ and Christopher Daniels brekaing up due to it.

Sting's new look certainly is interesting, to say the least. I don't know if I like it or hate it. It's refreshing, I guess. And to top the show off it seems the iMPACT Zone fans still side with Joe, even with Kurt in the ring. I don't care if it's too early, Joe-Angle will be incredible.

Oh, I have no idea what The Naturals will do now. LAX has a feud, and AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels are involved in singles once again, 3D has been absent, and Maverick Matt was missing Kazarien and decided to dress up like Raven. They blew their title shot, so I imagine more training with The Franchise, but still, it's hard to predict. Maybe they'll get another title shot down the line.

And to top the night off, Team 3D, Alex Shelly, and Chris Sabin will be working with MCW and will visit North Carroll High School Nov. 11 in Hampstead. That's only half an hour from where I live, I'm thinking I should catch it.

Lance Hoyt pulled off a Van Terminator before, last year at Sacrifice, against Abyss. With all the high flying moves he pulls off, he should be the next heavyweight to invade the X-division. What really surprised me was that he could run up the ropes to perform his moonsault.

And one other thing: does anyone find Kurt Angle's new theme, a "TNA rip-off" of "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider, an odd choice? I mean, it fits him and everything, but it's a 23 year old song. The only reason why I think they picked is because of that movie "Vision Quest," a "Flashdance"/"Footloose"-esqe film about amatuer wrestling. The song plays as Louden Swain (played by Matthew Modine) goes into the "big match" at the end of the film.

Former WWE/WCW wrestler does a pretty good job pointing out TNA's several weaknesses:

I really hate how they're blowing Joe-Angle at the next PPV. I want to see it and their confrontations so far have been great, but a match of this this potential with a lengthy, excellent buildup would make it so much sweeter, send the buyrates through the roof and maybe even have non-internet smarks talking about TNA. I hope they somehow find a way to sidestep the match between now and Genesis.

LAX doesn't have a personal ring announcer anymore? BOO.

The Fight for the Right tourney qualifier/seeding thing was ridiculously complicated, but the inverted battle royal part was kinda novel. On next week's iMPACT!: Gail Kim vs. Miss Tracy Brooks in an Inverted Bra & Panties match! Just signed for Genesis: Brother Runt Deadly vs. Raven in an Inverted Buried Alive match!

I'm surprised with Hoyt being the last one eliminated. I was also surprised with how well he could fly despite his big maniness. I'd be a fan of his if he didn't look like a long-haired Test with a girly lower back tattoo.

I pretty much agreed with everything he said except for the stuff with Eric Young. It's a comedy storyline, so logic can step aside a bit.

Yeah, Lance Storm hit the nail on the head with some points, but completely missed on others. But, that was written before yesterday's iMPACT, and I think Traci is a good fit for Roode after seeing them at the Battle Royale.

Oh, and apparently Abyss swallowed a thumb tack at BFG after being put face first into the pile by Joe. He coughed it up back stage, but not before it cut up his tongue and throat. And, after all that, he was able to put on a great match with Lance Hoyt at the tapings. The man's an SOB, and always jobs in the main event. He needs the title, but I can't see it happening anytime soon, unfortunatley.

Abyss is the Kane of TNA, with much more talent. He's the guy they bring out when they want to put someone over, but he'll never win the big one. But considering who else is in the tournament, it'll probably be Abyss v. Sting for the belt at least. Even though he'll come up short again.

I'm annoyed at TNA for actually making me feel bad for Jeff Jarrett. The guy is the most universally hated man in wrestling (and rightfully so) but he's still a human being.

Can't say I'm surprised at some of the booking. I am surprised, however, at the athleticism of Lance Hoyt. He runs the turnbuckles, a la Bull Buchanan, and hits a VanTerminator (Van Lancinator?) on Abyss for a near fall. Yeah, the tournament is Abyss' to lose, based on the seedings, I think he'll get either Hoyt again or AJ Styles in the finals.

Not sure what the deal was with Sting waffling Christian Cage with the bat without any real provocation. Is Sting turning heel. Hmmm, well.....of course not. It just didn't make any sense.

Joe-Angle is one of those deals that should be held off for at least a year. Think Sabu-Taz 11 years ago in ECW as an example.

LAX vs. AMW should be sponsored by either Alpha-Bits cereal or Campbell's Soups. Team 3D & the Naturals would make this a 4-way, and if that happens, it should be an elimination match.

Kevin Nash, Brad Garrett would like to have a word with you about poaching his territory as a stand-up comic. And it's not about getting a role on 'Til Death, either.

Jeff Jarrett & BG James "going home" at the same time?! Bet they'll return as a tag team in about 3-4 months, and Kip James will be headed elsewhere by next summer.

Matt Bentley, I suggest you pay close attention the next time Shannon Moore appears on ECW, which should be sometime next month. Yeah, I think you get the idea. That makeup sucks.

I would agree, but the odds of Angle being around a year from now are 50-50 at best.

Decent iMPACT this week, after reading Lance Storm's commentary I agree with him on some points. TNA's wrestlers have the talent to work with good storylines but some of the writing that goes on just seems lackluster.

The fight for your right match was interesting because I found it entertaining that it was a reverse royal rumble. Not too bad of a concept though.

Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe at Genesis, going to have to say it does feel like it's too soon. I hope Angle gets a one or two matches in before Genesis. Angle needs to wrestle someone to build up his credibility against Joe. I know that sounds crazy, and Kurt Angle is arguably the greatest wrestler alive, but the excitement would be kicked up a notch if we actually got to see Angle work a bit before Genesis. Kind of like seeing what Angle has in store for Joe.

One other thing, Don West's voice is starting to annoy me. Ever since he started yelling during Angle's first entrance he's kind of gotten on my nerves. His yelling seems forceful, like he's trying too hard and I'm noticing now it happens a lot. Anyone else feel the same way?

I was hoping to just hear from Sting since he is the Champion and was actually on iMPACT! again, but I guess Christian showing up was okay. It brought up Cage turning on him in the past and set up an eventual feud in the future.

It was really kind of sad that after LAX was attacked by AMW that the Naturals still couldn’t win the Tag Titles. Although it seems that Shane Douglas has finally gotten Douglas and Stevens where he wants them to be mentally.

So Nash had Shelley get rid of Johnny Devine?! I’m confused. I didn’t mind Austin Starr the first time around, but I don’t really want Nash and Shelley hanging out with him.

I thought the reverse battle royal to start out the tournament was kind of a neat concept. I would want to see it probably even once a year, but putting a new spin on the battle royal is good with me.

The in to the ring part seemed to be more about all the action and fighting that involved people not competing in the match. What the hell did they do Matt Bentley? Once we got in the ring, I felt like Bobby Roode has been reinvented without anybody telling me. TNA puts together some good shows, but I still take real issue with the fact that the WWE TV is able to stand by itself where iMPACT! is almost unable to.

Where the heck did Lance Hoyt come from?! He’d been no where and now he’s the #1 seed in the tournament part of this whole Title shot thing. Abyss was predictable as the winner of the bye, but Hoyt was a surprised, I was insulted when he first made it into the ring.

Wow, that was the first time since 1994 that Jeff Jarrett has ever felt “real” to me. When it first started, I thought it was going to be just another Double J rehearsed promo, but I was actually impressed. I felt like he meant every word.

I know it was much hyped and talked about, but a part of me can’t help but question starting Angle off against Joe. Someone the popularity of a Kurt Angle getting the “Joe’s gonna kill you” chant just didn’t jive with me.

Let's get the chant started folks: "He's hardcore!"

Just to repeat what's already been said: The reverse battle royal was a very novel thing. I have to give it a thumbs up. And I don't know about starting Angle right off in a feud with Joe either. But on the other hand, Angle doesn't really need to have time to be established, people already know who he is. So why not kick him right off with a big feud?

And Sting's new look may take some time to grow on me.....
