Get ready 'cause here it comes! New Smallville tonight at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Last week was Sneeze.
Jimmy is in danger! Here is the official preview from CWTV.com.
Smallville #6-3 "Wither"
Still guilt-ridden about the destruction he caused while he was Zod, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) throws a charity costume ball for the town and hires the All-American Rejects to perform.
Meanwhile, Clark (Tom Welling) and Chloe (Allison Mack) pursue a creature who uses male human bodies as potting mix to procreate, and the hunt intensifies after the creature gets hold of Jimmy Olsen (guest star Aaron Ashmore). Lois (Erica Durance) reluctantly agrees to be Oliver Queen's (guest star Justin Hartley) date to Lex's ball.
Kristin Kreuk, John Glover and Annette O'Toole also star. Tracy Bellomo wrote the episode directed by Whitney Ransick.

"Luck. That's what it all boils down to, doesn't it? The smallest break one way or another. It can change a life or destroy it. And you can't fight it. No matter how strong you are."
"I believe the man that you're looking for is the same man who beat Samuel here 'til he cried like a little girl."
"Well, I've certainly got to hand it to you for the meticulous care with which you have executed your finely-formulated machinations in extricating us from this devastating dilemma."
Way too much relationship soap opera fluff for me. The Clark battles the evildoer scenes just felt tacked on.
Oh, and two blatant violations of physics (both real and sci-fi) tonight. First, the "she's not from this planet" reason for Clark's weakness to the planet lady made no sense whatsoever. His powers were working and Kryptonite & magic weren't in play. Sure, he's not supposed to be invincible, but it should take more than just a sharp surface from extraterrestrial origin to cut Clark's skin. Second, how in the world can someone take the top off a can with a projectile? Sure, if it's nailed down or otherwise held still, but if it was just sitting there like implied, then it should have moved with the top. The idea was right (something to prove he didn't miss accidentally), but the execution was unbelievable. Also, Lois didn't even bat an eye at the fact the arrow was going so fast it stuck to the brick wall...
Definitely a lot of bad writing in tonight's episode. Not to mention really, really UGLY CGI. I'm sorry, but those vines were some of the worst CGI I've ever seen on this show. And what the hell was up with that last battle?
I understand that electricity kills the vines and everything, but it just seems like the whole climax to the battle took all of 1.5 seconds. I didn't even realize there were electricity infused devices on the ground, I thought Clark was just trying to spray water on her at one point I was so confused.
Lana got laid though, that's always a plus.

I assumed the plants were just as strong as him, so it balances out.Originally Posted by Dogbert
This episode was pretty much standard Smallville fare (although points for putting a known DC hero into his exact costume pretty much). I was at first happy that Clark and Lana broke up because that means it wouldn't suck all the energy out of Clark, but now she's sucking all the energy out of Lex. Ugh. The only Lex I enjoyed was his exchange with Clark.
The ending turned me into a 7th grader again. Ya know, they show Lana/Lex, Lois/Ollie, and Chloe/Jimmy, and then what do we see? The exterior of Clark's barn and that "thump thump thump" sound. I couldn't help but to giggle.
Hey, why are they calling "James" "Jimmy" again?

So this episode was pretty much bad flirting with all the couples on the show. Very bad episode. Everything seemed off, even Lex, who seemed too giddy (at least for him). But I guess that was to tie in his line to Clark about Lana changing him. The MOTW was our first look at one of the Phantom Zone escapees, but it was so obvious from the very start of the episode who it was that it was very bland. Also, that "battle" was garbage. I like that Clark used his brain to outwit the plant woman instead of trying to slug it out with her, but it went way too fast and felt like "meh" to me.
And just to nitpick, it seems Lana's hand is fully healed with ABSOLUTELY NO SIGN of a scar on it. I wish I had her genes. I still have a mark on my ankle from when I got cut 15 years ago.
Probably the best part of all of it was that final scene (sans crummy music) with Clark sitting alone in the barn after we see everyone else getting it on in some way.
I hope next week is better.
Dynamic Soul!
All I kept thinking was.....Poison Ivy.
I can't help but say I was disappointed. When I saw those Phantmo Zone prisoners escape, I couldn't help but think how great it'd be, and instead we get an alien creature that can summon plants and is weak to electricity. The way she was destroyed is also the most pathetic way I've seen a villian defeated in Smallville. I was hoping for more, but after seeing this episode, I hope they can get back to even the meiocre level. At least next week's preview looks goodSpoiler:

Beware The Almighty Hammer Gun!
Beginning: Uh, I thought Chloe was smart. At least smart enough not to fall for Jimmy saying they needed to go to Make-Out-In-Your-Car Point for "investigation reasons." She was actually surprised when he tried to pull the ol' reacharound.
Two minutes later: If you're ever in the woods, and you feel a drop of blood, you DON'T LOOK UP, you RUN.
Ten minutes: Why did a billionaire CEO just walk into Martha Kent's house as a messenger boy and then walk away? Yeah, I know he was just trying to pick up Lois, and that Lex has done it plenty of times, but it's still odd. No security or nothin'.
Twenty minutes: Second odd scene with Queen, as Lois merely walks into his weight-training room. It'd be so easy to kill this guy if he didn't have his bow and arrow with him.
Fifty minutes: What a terrible song! No wonder they're called the All-American Rejects. If this is what's popular with the kids today, whatever happened to rock-n-roll? Why do they prefer Muzak now?
Fifty-six minutes: The second song wasn't that great either. I did laugh at the ending where everyone is pairing up and Clark is stuck with a tennis ball.
Like everyone else has said, this episode was stuffed with horrible writing, but what I want to know is.....who's responsible for it?

Yeah, apparently the writer ran out of movies to steal from and now is ripping off from the other DC heroes. Btw how did she become corporal I thought all the criminals that Jor El captured were turn into phantoms?Originally Posted by DR.MID-NITE
I did it! Watched the episode this morning...
I actually liked that the freak took a backseat in this episode. It wore on me in the early seasons and even though this one was Kryptonian, she still had that FOTW feel. The reveal that she (Plant Girl? Vine Lady?) was from the Phantom Zone was a neat little moment, but I was very glad she was a subplot. I don't think she would have held up as the main plot of the episode.
I've gotten over the whole twin brother thing and I liked the development of Jimmy Olsen in this episode. I'd be interested to see him and Chloe talk a bit more about "before" (and the throwaway line a season or two ago). I think it would give us a better understanding of where they're going and why they're back into it. Clark seeming to be jealous when he can't stay interested in Chloe romantically for more than a few minutes at a time needs understanding too. Get it together, Clark!
It seemed rather fitting for Lex to go to his party as Caesar. It says a lot about his character. Caesar and Cleopatra didn't quite work out though. We don't know a great deal about Ollie yet, but in addition to the Green Arrow nod, Robin Hood may say something about his personality too.
Actually possible or not, I loved the image of the can tab spinning on the arrow!
It took me a minute to notice, but one of the greenhouse lights had been knocked on the floor and was still connected to the electricity (the bulb was still lit).Originally Posted by David Lucas
If I were Oliver Queen, I don't know that I would appreciate being viewed as a messenger. He was distracted by Lois and baffled at the same time that it didn't seem too odd for him to walk off.Originally Posted by Martianinvader
And you seem to putting a lot Queen *needing* to have security. While it might to prudent, there is nothing that says he has to have it. The man can clearly handle himself if he wants to. Lois is very thick-headed and Queen's assistant tried to stop her. And it's a bid odd, but Ollie seems to do everything in the clock tower, that's where his office is too, I wouldn't be surprised if he slept there.

lol @ Lex saying "You're the first girl I wanted to come live with me"
The writers must definetly have amnesia, seeing as how she's like the 4th.
Or Lex could be lying. Although I'm with you.Originally Posted by Icer

Quoted for truth. Although I still prefer this appearance to Remy Zero's appearance in the first season.Originally Posted by Martianinvader
I liked that too (as well as Clark not being much for costumes, although he DOES like wearing capes, aparently). Lex has such an ego.Originally Posted by The Penguin

While the episode was weak in a variety of ways, I enjoyed one moment specifically.
"The day you could freely walk into my home unannounced is gone."
It's about damn time someone set Clark straight!
My heart broke looking at that final scene. Sucks to be Clark.
Agreed on both points. No more random Clark showing up at the Luthor mansion unexpectedly. Yes it does suck to be Clark at the end, lonliness is a powerful emotion.Originally Posted by StormBlue

Smallville's 'Wither' was a fairly interesting & intriguing episode (imo), when Chloe and Jimmy were on a stake out in a make out spot, I originally thought that the strange happenings they were investigating in the area were caused by a Phantom Zone wraith, I was partly wrong.
The random confrontation scene involving Clark and Lex was very tense that you could cut it with a knife, It is understandable that Clark would suspect it to be another Luthor scheme gone awry because of past clandestine activities of the antagonist, but that was not the case this time, and after giving Clark a stern warning about trespassing on his property, I wonder if Lex will have Clark arrested the next time he does it.
Was "Gloria" referring to the Planet Krypton when she told Clark that she was from a world that was 'green' (or so to speak) but then it was destroyed when others built up tall structures?
And in conclusion, the scene where Clark is alone in the barn, left me with the impression that he is concerned about what Gloria told him about his escape from the Phantom Zone, if she got out, then it's now obvious to him there maybe others out there also, like the alien wraith we have seen at the end of "Zod".
It makes perfect sense. She's from the Phantom Zone, so we can infer that she has Kryptonian physiology, and would experience the same effects as Clark under the Earth's yellow sun.Originally Posted by Dogbert
We can naturally assume that Lana's healing ability has been temporarily strengthened due to her relatively recent bout of intercourse with a Kryptonian.Originally Posted by Supernovametalstar
