Just wondering if anyone is a fan of the movie or the play "Rent"? I saw the movie last year and loved it, and I'm gonna go see the play in November.

I haven't seen the play, but I loved the movie and have the full soundtrack.

We have a talkback for the movie here.

I haven't seen the play, but I enjoyed the movie a lot.

"Seasons of Love" and "La Vie Boheme" just won't get out of my head no matter how hard I try

My sister saw it done without the original cast then went to the movie and told me she probably would have liked the play more if she had seen it with the original cast.

I saw RENT about 6 years ago although I had heard it before then. When I heard about the movie I was excited but had to endure rumors such as Spike Lee making a hip Hop version with Justin Timberlake and a non-musical version. So I saw the movie and felt, as I titled my blog entry about it 525,600 Meh-nutes. I wasn't floored and while the original cast in the movie was great I'd still much rather go see the play than watch the movie.

I also saw the play a while back. Having a mother who is a Broadway Play fandom buff has its advantages in going into the city to see Broadway shows.

The movie was as good if not better, if for no other reason than you don't have to see a scene in a hospital, and imagine that the hospital room has more than one wall instead of it actually having all its walls.

I respect, understand and agree with all of the hype and fan following behind RENT, but I have to say as far as all of the subject matter that the play covers, I think Boy George's TABOO was a better play in a few different ways.

I don't think I'd even care about this production if it wasn't for the fact that my sister hijacked my computer for the three months before the movie's release and blasted the entire original Broadway soundtrack every single day for those whole three months. I'm not even kidding - every single song, every single day, for three months. Thanks to her, I now hate Rent with the fire of a thousand suns - and I've never even seen it.

It's okay. I like it a little*, but compared to classics like Sweeney Todd it's nothing.

*OBC Rent = art. Now it's like a period piece- life in 1996.
