I'm actually kinda glad they got their "James Bond in space" urges out of the way when they did. You can only imagine how this would've fared if it'd been done in the Brosnan era in response to the Star Wars prequels.

And it's actually semi-plausible as far as James Bond movies go. Most of the movie is a typical Bond adventure, except this one's a carbon copy of Spy Who Loved Me. Bond's only in space for the last chunk of the film, and the effects are quite epic and well handled (love the space marine fight, something even star wars didn't dare do).

Unfortunately this is Moore's worst performance, the Bond girls are lifeless, and Jaws is wasted. With performances this bland, thank god the effects were so good.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh this movie was Ok."The spy who loved me" was wayyyyy better.Jaws was kind of stupid here. The villain was good but I didn't enjoy the plot or the action except for that cool part in Venice.I gave it 2 stars.

Highlights for me are the freefall teaser (until Jaws' Wyle E. Coyote moment with the circus tent), the boat chase, and the aerial tramway sequence. "His name is Jaws. He kills people." LOL!! Otherwise, not really a favorite of mine.

This movie surprised me even more than Octopussy. I often see it listed as the worst Bond movie ever, and I'm realizing now that people mistake "larger-than-life" for "bad". Featuring a space station or a shoot out in space doesn't automatically make for a bad movie. But bad writing, acting, pacing, etc, would be another story.

I found Moonraker to be well-paced and well put together. The space stuff had a nice feel and atmosphere to it. And the space shoot-out wasn't nearly as elaborate as I'd remembered/thought. Sure, I'd question the idea of Drax building a city in space without anyone noticing. Or the US being so ready to engage in space warfare with laser weapons like that. I mean, had they been battling Romulans or Klingons leading up to the events of Moonraker? Jaws seeming invincibility was too much, too. But these moments/questions/concerns weren't above and beyond stuff from previous Bond movies.

Lot of great moments: Bond shooting the wouldbe assassin in the trees. The dogs chasing down Corinne Clery. The centrifuge chamber scene, and Bond getting payback later in the fight with Chang. Jaws in the freaky clown suit. Q's "reentry" line.

I liked it. And I think I could give it 3 stars for Lois Chiles alone.
There are many ingredients in the stew of annoyance.
