Fresh Smallville tonight on The WB at 8 p.m. ET. Last week was Reckoning.
Clark meets a masked hero! Here is the official preview from TheWB.com.
Smallville #5-13 "Vengeance"
Clark (Tom Welling) discovers the new reporter at the Daily Planet-a bespectacled, bumbling woman named Maya (Denise Quinones, former "Miss Universe")-is actually a masked avenger who fights crime at night. Meanwhile, Clark's bottled-up grief threatens to get the best of him. Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, John Glover, AnnetteO'Toole and John Schneider also star.
Al Septien & Turi Meyer wrote the episode directed by Jeannot Swarc.

Was that the Elfman Batman theme music there?
Sounded like it.
Can someone fill me in on between the time this Miss Vengeance punches Clark across the room and when she walks in and delivers her "glasses over the mask" line? We had a fire drill, so I had to leave the building. Let me guess, I missed her name, official superhero name, and how she got her powers, not to mention how Chloe and Clark found out who she really was.
Not much longer before it's over, so I'll go ahead and post my thoughts. Good story overall, although I wish they had brought in a comic book hero rather than a brand new one. Loved the scene with Lex and Lionel in the LuthorCorp office, up until Lex said, "Sorry it was so short." That kinda made it like, "Yes, we got it, Lex."
Anyway, cool enough. Wait, how'd Lana get the watch? I had some guys banging on my window...geez, I need to see this whole episode over again...
Next week looks pretty hostel. Get it?
Wow, getting some SERIOUS Mask of the Phantasm vibes here. Especially considering her name was Andrea.

An average episode, regardless. Nothing spectacular. I HATE Lionel's guts. What a [turd] head.![]()
I was in tears by the end of this

"Don't forget us when you're famous!"
None of the drama affects me any more in this series, it's so cookie cutter that I knew what was going to happen before they happened.
So what happened in the gap I missed?
i was trying to catch her last name cause i seriously thought it was andrea bounment (misspelled)
i thought it was her tooi wish theyd tell us

A fun episode, missed the first 15 minutes, the Andrea character reminded me a kind of a "huntress" type of character, though i'm not sure if the whole 'nods' to superman that chloe later mentions about her were so great...i'm not sure if i can explain but since that is what he will use when he becomes Superman it makes no sense them using that..
Not half bad tonight.

really wish i could've seen the 100th ep. after seeing that final scene...really liked the look and feel of tonights ep. maybe if birds of prey were structured like this it would've been a lil more succesful...it prob would have still been canned as quick, but might have been a bit better of a series.

Nuts, nobody's complaining. That means I missed a halfway-decent one. I only remembered once there were ten minutes left and no action anymore.
I agree that the sentimental stuff is cookie-cutter, with its dependence on objects (like the watch I saw in what little I could see). Sentiment is a lot harder to write than action.

THIS WEEK: When you think about it, TV shows with cult fanbases have actually returned more times than they haven't. The results have been mixed, but it's a thing, and it totally happens! Join us as we examine many recent examples in..."YOU CAME BACK!"
I thought the final scene was very well done (and thus explained why John Schenider still has a credit in the titles), but the rest was pretty forgettable. The girl who played the vigilante gave a decent performance, but they really could've made the "obligatory mourning episode" more character-focused and dropped the whole superhero thing completely.
- Lionel's bits were the best parts, but seeing him magically back in the Luthorcorp office just stank of the writers dropping him back to his season 2/3 status. The shot with him and Clark looking out the window was pretty omnious though, as was his conversation with Martha.
-I can see the show taking two directions now. Either Jonathan is seldom mentioned again ala Pete, Whitney and Jason, or else we're gonna be hit over the head every single episode about how much his dad's death affects him.
Note to self: No More Heroes avatar in use since April 10/2009. Previous avatar lasted 2 years, 9 months and 4 days!!! Holy Stale Avatar Batman!!
I'm not exactly sure, but did you miss the part where Clark and Chloe were trying to find the vigilante? Probably one of my favorite parts in the episode. Chloe went out into a seedy alley, Clark would pretend to mug her, and Chloe would yell for help. Aparently they had to do it a few times before she showed up (and Chloe's half-hearted attempt was pretty funny). She and Clark fought, and then they made up, and she said she got her powers because she had a heart transplant with a krypto-freak.Originally Posted by Damien
Yeah, I was wondering if they were just going to leave him in the opening for the rest of the season or if he'd be in a flashback or something.Originally Posted by Simpler Simon
This episode wasn't bad, but Andrea didn't interest me too much. A little bit too Phantasm, but whatever. I liked the sentimentality, and LOVED Clark saying he can see himself fighting crime but not wanting to hide who he is (foreshadowing why Superman doesn't wear a mask).
I also liked how they paralleled the Lex/Lana scene with the Lionel/Martha one. Those Luthor boys may be manipulative shady bastards, but that doesn't mean they don't have hearts (except Lionel).
What's this about Martha on the senate? Uh...it's not supposed to work like that...or at least I don't think it does. I hope it doesn't.

I got the feeling Andrea was thrown into the series as a replacement for Bruce Wayne. I guess they had to get Clark desiring to be a hero some how. I did enjoy the telephone booth changing reference as well as the Man of Steel reference, and it does shed more on why Clark becomes Superman.
Lionel ought to be shot for chasing Martha the way he is. He also ought to be shot for killing Pa Kent and obviously bribing some members of Congress. You can truely see how underhanded he can be, but it was awesome seeing Lex throw it right back in his face. I can just imagine how balistic Clark would be if he foudn out the truth about Lionel though.
I was hoping for more of a clip show showing how Jonathon raised up Clark, but it was a good episode none the less. My biggest disappointment now will be seeing Jonathon Kent in the opening credits and knowing he won't be there.

Beware The Almighty Hammer Gun!
Thanks, 90s. Yep, that's what I missed. I saw her punch Clark across the office, and when I got back, she was walking in out-of-costume, and Clark delivered his phone booth line.
Yes. He should.Originally Posted by bigddan11

Oh, and that Activision plug was lame.

I just remembered: In what universe would Congress ask a newly elected senator's wife to step in and take his place when he dies? Wouldn't Lex step in, or wouldn't they hold another election?
Why, our very own, of course: a dead man beats Ashocroft.Originally Posted by Damien
Okay, this scenario isn't exactly the same, but it may actually be even more bizarre.
