    Doctor Who- "Bad Wolf" (SPOILERS)

    Like This Thread!

    "Bad Wolf"

The travellers end up trapped on the Gamestation in a series of deadly TV shows. Who is the true puppet master of Earth's misfortune and just what is 'Bad Wolf'? The end has begun...

A great episode. The parodies were good for some fun but thankfully didn't take up too much time. Once again the theme was consequences. When the Doctor defeated the Editor, he accidently plunged Earth into chaos. The question of course is if this was all his fault or if the Daleks just carried on opressing humanity after he left. The darker side of both the Doctor and humanity have been key themes this series and I have to say the dark futures we've been seeing wouldn't suprise me if they came to pass. I wonder if the new companion is being set up for the next run or if she was just a red herring to make us more believe in Rose's 'death'. The Doctor's dialogue with the Daleks was once again classic:

"You have no weapons! No defenses! No plan!"
"Yeah and doesn't that scare you half to death?"

Looking forward to next week's episode very much. Any bets on who that deep voice at the end of the preview belonged to?

    Two words

    Holy

    Hell

The first half with teh game shows was abit nondescpit but when the Doc got out of Big Brother, by hell did it pick up. Eluding to Rose's death (the fact that they even had the gaull to do that speaks volumes), "Do you think I'm a 'Out bounds' man?!", the mind spiked girl and her death and even the end when the Darleks Complely disregard Rose in preperation for war on the Doctor.

this is what I like, this will be a finalé that will blow the holy hell out of it.

    ^Ditto ^^Ditto, and then some.

I KNEW the Daleks would have a greater role than just that one episode. I KNEW IT! All that hype... and it's actually living up to it. This finale is going to be brilliant! I can feel it.

I thought the voice was the Tardis itself... although I may be imagining it...

    IT'S COMING SOON...

That was the signle greatest first part of a season finale since "Kobols' Last Gleaming" from Battlestar Galactica's revival.

And the preview...Amazing...we all know what the hologram means for Eccelstons' Doctor (a little sad we know what happens with this)

The Daleks are no longer humane, emotional, and looking for identity, they are THE DALEKS, relentless, mericless, ignorant (dismissing Rose)

    Dalek: YOU-DO-NOT-HAVE-ANY-WEAPONS-ANY-STRATEGY

The Doctor: Yeah, and It scares the hell out of you does'nt it?

And it looks like the fan theroies were accurate, The Doctor was responsible for creating a new Dalek empire long after the original perished in the time war...the reason? The familiar human/Dalek hybrid voice should give you a clue, and if it does'nt already...watch "The Long Game"

The Parting of The Ways next week...it's the end, but the moment has been prepared for.

Ah, great one this week (and a Face of Bo reference!). But time to gripe. Anyone been to the gallery section on the official website? With all the grabs readily prepared as wallpapers? Well, they've always been a bit dodgy (who wants this on their desktop?) but this week... there isn't a SINGLE picture of mecha-Robinson! I mean, really.

Apparently, there's a King of the Daleks next episode as well - it was a question on the National Lottery thing, just now... they showed a clip and everything.

Woah, that was the best episode yet. The parodies were really kinda onoringal though. I'm also glad that they didn't take too much time. Allthough despite that I thought they were farilly well done and fairlly well thought out.

ummmm, not much else to say really...

    Heh.

Great episode. Best of the 2005 series? No doubt.

So Bad Wolf? I think its the Daleks, or the leader of them. Thats why the controller kept sending messages back to the doctor. Because she knew.

Oh yeah, loved the Qs on the Weakest link bit. The reference to Lucifer, the mythical 10th planet was a good un.

BTW, anyone notice the Weakest Link was on before this. With some Dr Who related questions?

Every Sattilite Five episode has referenced The Face of Bo...he's involved in this somehow, hell I would'nt be suprised if the Adam/Davros scenario turns out to be false, and Bo is actually Bad Wolf

I suppose it could be possible, but sounds a little far fetched. There has only been to Sattilite Five episodes, and both with breif references, proberlly just so people can say "OMG, thats the guy from the other episode, woah this show was great continty"

What was the question about the face of bo anyway? I can't rember.

And also, wasn't he pregnant in "The Long Game" ....

but you could be right, we'll just have to wait and see....

Bo also spoke of "Bad Wolf" during "The End of the World", it's merly something to throw out there, in case Adam being Davros is a red herring

Yeah, I should of really said "out of the most important ones ive seen, sorry

But I doubt even if I watched all of the classic episodes I doubt Id find one that can stand up to the new series episodes. I just the style and charcters one hell of a lot more in the new one.

Also, why did you call Terrance ***** Terrance D-i-c-k-s

And for the record, I've seen quite a lot of the older episodes, I don't watch them anymore though becuase its on too earlly in the morning to wake up for and I keep on forgetting to set the video

    That pretty much explains itself.

One example of an original series serial being better than a new series episode is something like "The Caves of Androzani" being FAR above Aliens of London/World War III

Hell "Power Of Kroll" was better than AOL/WWIII.

The main issue I'm seeing with the new series is that the best shows are a little more derived from the old series than they should be.

I don't see how anyone could compare Power Of Kroll to AOL/WWIII, the latter being far superior. While sometimes being far from being perfect, this whole series has above average at worst.

None of the series has outright bored me, old Doctor Who - of all periods - could do that, POK being one of them.

I would disagree that the good episodes are derived from elements of old. While "Empty Child" may have had elements of old, the new elements are what made it great; tight script, stronger effects, better pacing. Shows like "Bad Wolf", "Fathers Day", "Dalek" are all made great by the new elements to which the old series never stretched too. They push the boundaries by adding more intelligent or emotive elements the old series just wasn't able to (thanks to the nature of TV at the time).

I agree there are some elements of yore which have indeed strengthened this season, and there are some new elements which I think have weakened it (the "romance" between Doctor and Rose being one, having killed the "Peter Pan" effect of the Doctor's world by adding the trials and issues of the mundane humanity; love, jealousy etc). Overall I'd say it's successes lie in the old and new, and I think what RTD has done in his episodes and the series overall is a credit to the concept. Ironically, I think the episode which felt most like old Who to me was "The Long Game", and that was derided by a lot of hardcore fans.

    All opinion in the end..

    Oh, great episode BTW.

The original series is still above EVERY show and movie I've ever watched, then again, I actually have an attention span, and can watch six to twelve episodes of a serial to appreciate what classic Who was. That's the downfall of all of Whos' detractors. Classic Who serials were like novels, sometimes they were bad, sometimes they had four concurrent works by Phillip K. Dick

There's been more than enough episodes to put this series abvoe even Galactica, which, depsite being excelent, lacks pretty muich every humanitarian aspect bar despair. Being an actual fan of Davis (one of few sadly)

I SEVERLY disagree with that statment

What show were you watching? Maybe you've been spoiled rotten by the New Adventures novels, the BBC Novels etc that evolved the way the series needs to be written, but beleive me, that does NOT mean the original series never reached those levels. They did
