Dana Elcar dead at 77

Dana Elcar” who starred in a number of TV shows, and played all kinds of parts in many movies ,died at age 77, this Monday. He was going blind while in MacGyver,(he played the boss, it aired from 86-92,) and they wrote the blindness into the part..The minute I saw his picture I recalled him in a wonderful l930s set piece, which won several Acadamy Awards, including best Director and Best written film....He had a small part, as an FBI dectective." The Sting" Paul Neuman- Robert Redford ..a truly wonderful film, if you hadn't seen it, see it..His career spanned 40 years. He was a wonderful actor...and that part in "The Sting" was memorable even though it was small. He had talent. Wanted to become an actor after seeing Citizen Kane a number of times at an all night movie show in the 40s

So sad. I just saw an episode of MACGYVER on TVLand today. It was sad when he started to go blind on the show, knowing it was real. I haven't seen him in anything else, but I always liked him on MACGYVER. He'll always be Pete Thorton to me.
