Matt Hardy...released from WWE

Totally surprsing. One has to wonder if this was becuase of the edge-Lita situation or just some spring cleaning. I was expecting to see Matt Hardy back on RAW...

Regardless, WWE should release some of they're wrestlers. Which I believe is one of the reasons why a lot of wrestlers are improperly used. Only if they can get rid of Chris Masters, Heidenreich, Snitzky, Simon Dean....

This release was probably inevitable to begin with, though I wouldn't be surprised if Matt Hardy decides to go join his brother Jeff over at TNA. It would be real nice to see the Hardy Boyz back together again if that happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed that Matt wanted the release after the end of his relationship.

I heard that there may be more roster cuts soon, because of financial reasons. I guess some of the wrestlers who haven't done much lately (Kidman, Rosey etc) will be on the chopping block.

And yet the Diva Search losers will still be employed.

Poor guy... went from a great heel on Smackdown to totally buried in Raw. Then he goes out with an injury, has a breakup and is dumped from his job for it.

Guess they are going to push Edge and had to pick between the two. Not like they couldn't move him back to smackdown or something like that.

He will be missed.

Simon Dean rules why the hell would they get rid of him? Masters and Heidenreich I could see, but Snitzky, while not the greatest is still somewhat entertaining as long as he is kept out of any title picture.

Im not at all suprised to see Matt get a release due to the whole Edge and Lita situation. WWE had to make a business decission and as much as I hate to say it Edge and Lita are a bigger draw for the company and getting rid of two big draws and keeping Matt would have been bad for business, but this will work out in TNA's favor in the long run. Jarret im sure is all over signing Matt, Rhyno, and Percy Pringle (would make an awesome manager for Abyss). TNA would love nothing more to add The Hardy Boyz to it's tag-team roster along with the likes of AMW, Team Canada, The Naturals (would make for an awesome feud IMO), and The New Age Outlaws are there for TNA to stick together whenever they want to. I expect to see both Rhyno and Hardy in TNA this Summer.

Simon Dean has wrestlecrap written all over it. I never got to see him as Nova, but the Simon Dean character, along with the other health fitness gimmicks, just plain sucks. Simon Dean is just someone I see as a joke and will never really get super-over. Then again, I thought that too with Eugene.

As for TNA, I'd love for Matt Hardy to be in it, but I absolutely loather TNA at the moment. No substance whatsoever. I find the idea of "Hey, we're the best tag team here, what? no we are! we're the best, I'll see you at Destination X!" belonging to 1980. That and Dusty's booking, I read about how bad he was in Sex Lies and Headlocks, and I can't believe it's happening 20 years after it was first brought up by Ric Flair.

As you might have known, Matt Hardy and Lita were in a real life relationship for quite sometime. About a month ago, it was made public that Lita has been seeing Edge behind his back for quite some time! It's sad really, because they Hardy Brothers and the Edge/Christian team have grown to be really good friends in real life, but now that the secret broke out, Matt's respect for the guy who plays Edge is no longer existent.

This is a shame for Matt. Yeah he hasn't been on the active roster for awhile and Edge has been pushed to be a top star, but it's a real shame for all of this to happen so fast to him. He and his brother Jeff were two great WWF (it's been a real long time but I still don't call it WWE) wrestlers, and it's a shame that they both had to have part ways. Hopefully these two will team up in TNA and it will be a success.

Edge/Lita situation regardless, I think Matt has been on his way out. He just hasn't had much of a purpose lately. No doubt that's at least partially due to the fact that he's been without Jeff.

That really surprises me. Of all the people I'd have guessed would be leaving this year, or even the next several years, Matt would be way at the bottom of the list. I hope to see him again soon.

I agree.

I wish they spent more time on the women who are attractive and can actually wrestle (Lita, Trish, Victoria, Molly) than on the attractive but completely useless Diva Search girls. I mean, yeah they look hot in a bikini, but they can barely form coherent sentences. Meh.

I guess Hemme is ok, but she's still a spaz. And I make an exception for Stacy since she is pretty awesome, even if she can't really wrestle. She makes a great manager type on the show. Or as arm candy for a wrestler (Orton, Test).

The other girls just don't have much going for them besides T and A.

Now I find this very upsetting. Matt Hardy was always one of my favorites and there is no reason he should not have had a great future in the WWE. He should have been the first U.S. Champion back when SmackDown! did their tournament and then he sacrificed it all to be with Lita on RAW.

Maybe he didn't go about it the "right way" from the WWE perspective, and while I wouldn't endorse release Edge or Lita from a business stand-point, Matt was the victim in all of this from where I sit and didn't deserve to be released.

Well most of the sites are saying that the reason why Matt was released was because of how he handled the Edfe/Lita situation what with going public and all. Personally I think that Matt pretty much got screwed over in all of this. He got his push killed in favor of giving it to A-Train, leaves and gets burried on Raw in order to be with his girlfriend who cheats on him, and now he gets released. Boy WWE reminds me of WCW more and more everyday. Kind of makes me curious if he has a no compete clause, cause if he doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up at lockdwon in two weeks to team up with Jeff again.

I've got nothing to base this on, but I've gotta guess it's much the same situation as Jeff's departure from WWE. They were in a place where both parties really didn't want anything to do with one another so they just split. Matt's more than likely in for a huge paycut when/if he shows up in TNA but with all the recent on- and off-screen bullcrap he's been through in WWE he'll probably be much happier.
