Eh, this episode was OK. Nothing too special though. Bridge, as usual, was pretty funny, and I did like that the SPD uniforms have kanji on them. Nice.
However, they HAVE to get better at acting while morphed. Not even Wild Force was that bad.

S.P.D. Emergency!
Power Rangers Space Patrol Delta "Abridged" WORLD PREMIERE
Last time, on Power Rangers SPD! The heroes on your side (the heroes for all time) out to save the universe, no matter where you are, if it's near or far, you could call out A-Squad Space Patrol! But there's a new team of cadets, the B-Squad Power Rangers, Jack, Z, Sky, Syd, and Bridge. Commander Crugger has chosen Jack to be the Red B-Squad Ranger... but was his choice made too soon? Jack had to battle his ego trip, but in the end proved himself to be the Red Ranger to all... but Sky. Reeling from the fact that he neither got a new cycle and still wasn't the Red Ranger (unlike his Time Force-styled father), Sky accidentally allowed Gruumm to get his hands on a new power source. One isn't enough, as a new criminal began turning people into pure energy. It took the new R.I.C. 2.0 to save the day.
Today, on Power Rangers! Bridge may seem to be a little out there, but he's a good guy. Will the Rangers trust his intuition when he begins his own investigation into bank robberies, no matter how odd his techniques are?
S.P.D. Ranger Facts 101-
Last time, on Power Rangers! There was a missing scene from the Ninja Storm series premiere, seen on the K-Mart video tape.
Shane: Ninja Storm, Ranger Form. Ranger form. It's "Ranger Form", right?Tori: Yeah, it's "Ranger Form".Shane: Ranger form.Dustin: Let me show you how it's done. NINJA STORM, RANGER FORM!
Ranger Question Of The Week-
Power Rangers Mystic Force has just been announced as PR2006. Running 32 episodes, it will be the shortest iteration next to Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers. Question is, with some footage of Magiranger already being shot in New Zealand, do you think they're already working on preliminary work for Mystic Force?

It was good to have a Bridge focus episode, given he's my favorite Ranger this season so far. The bath book stuff was funny. Cruger: "You have a bath book?" A little mention to the A Squad was good.
Am I the only one that's kind of annoyed by the police theme this year? All they ever do is solve and stop petty crimes. It would've been more interesting if they went after the A Squad. Plus, I wish they could put in some more New Zealand footage.
I enjoyed Bridge's investigation for the most part. S.P.D. seems to be best with its comedy. It was funny when Boom was flying all over the place with the hose.
We got our first monster that grows and he really didn't do much. I guess we don't need a full fledged Zord battle every week. Broodwing gets a little bit of focus, and there's tension between him and Gruumm. I think they didn't show enough of the main villain activities this week.
Overall, a decent episode.
Good filler episode. We even got some story progress (PRs learning about Broodwing).
- I take it the new rule is that they can show buildings being destroyed as long as they say no one was inside. It's not quite unedited episodes of MMPR, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
- The "I keep my money in that bank" was a great line. I'm glad he said it quietly after the rangers left. Otherwise it would have been out of character.
- Looks like we'll be getting a mix of battle formats (big to little, little to big) this year. Great to see some variety.
- Has anybody else noticed an increase in episode length this year? The episodes jumped from 21:15 to 22:30. Should keep the episodes less rushed.
Good filler stuff.
"You have a bath book?" "I keep my money in that bank." Boom being flung about by the hose.Admittedly, the episode (and the series) seem to be, like all other PR, severely hampered by the sentai. Dekaranger WAS Sentai COPS, so they kinda have to track down criminals episodically once in a while. Good integration with the footage, but I THINK this was a two-parter in Dekaranger (with a different plot). They did put an American character in Japanese footage, an actual rarity (when Bridge was lifting the car).... there was Kanji on the uniforms? I'm still bugged that the "D" on the arm is backwards.

I liked it. Bridge is probably my favorite ranger this season. I like that he can be such a space cadet while also being observant enough to possibly be the best detective in the group. I am a little surprised he can lift a car though, even when morphed.
The only annoying part about the police theme is them showing the monster surviving the blast after being judged guilty, then it wiggles around to prove it's not dead, and then it gets shoved into a card, where it makes noise to prove again it's not dead.
Jeez Disney, we get the hint, save a few seconds and go straight to the card.

I guess the future has something against deaths. Time Force froze their criminals, and S.P.D. traps them in cards.
I must say it was nice to see the evloving of the Green Ranger, but the acting does need to improve a bit.
When Bridge falls during the first unmorphed fight, look at his shoulder patch and you will clearly see Japanese writing (which I'm going to assume is Kanji).Originally Posted by Knux Five

At least the criminals are aware in SPD's cards. I've never understood cryogenic freezing as a deterrent. Sure, it must get annoying having to catch up on things when you get out, but it's not like any rehabilitation takes place while frozen (unless you seriously believe that the rehabilitation hadn't started yet when Ransik took everyone back with him).Originally Posted by bigddan11

We were speculating that in the other thread, no definite info, but seeing how well PR Generations is doing, and how the finale of one season is followed quickly by the premeire of another (I'm shocked they didn't run more DT reruns, ALTHOUGH they did play that nigh-complete run within 1 week and reruns during the run.), its probably because they thought they wouldn't need to invest that much money.Originally Posted by kaine23

I paused, and I don't think that's japanese, just some design. It looks like "5F2" or something.
