Both Matt and Trey are confessed fans of the original Thunderbirds, which gives a bit of hope that the whole puppet gimmick is used to the max, and also that lots of things explode.

"Putting the "F" back in Freedom"
"The price of Freedom is a $1.05"
Release Date: October, 15th 2004 (Sneak Preview October 9th)
Studio: Paramount Pictures
Director: Trey Parker
Starring: Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Dian Bachar, Elle Russ, Stanly G. Sawicki
Plot Summary: This politcally-minded comedy action adventure tells the story of Team America, a group of superhero-style adventurers who travel the world fighting terrorism and other evils. Specifically, the story focuses on a typical "action hero" who is recruited to join Team America for a special mission, as a satire of the typical Hollywood action movie, using a combination of wood marionette-driven action sequences and stirring tongue-in-cheek musical numbers.
Comments?
I just got back from seeing the sneak preview and this is easily the funniest movie the year in my book. Even topping the likes of Shaun of the Dead and Harold and Kumar. I highly recommend everyone go out and see Trey and Matt's latest. I plan on seeing Team America again next week when it offically releases.
5/5 stars.

This movie was very funny, though it suffered a bit from the love scene being edited. The songs were all great, especially the song about Pear Harbor sucking. It joins Dodgeball, Anchorman and Shaun of the Dead as one of the great comedies of 2004. There's unfortunately nothing after the credits.

The State needs to be on DVD... now.
Um, I thought this movie wasn't coming out until Friday. Did I miss something here?
It had an 800 screen sneak preview last night.Originally Posted by Deadly Messiah

I really had no plans to see this as I have disliked everything Trey Parker and Matt Stone have done before (especially SOUTH PARK), but the more and more I see ads for TEAM AMERICA, the more and more I become anxious to see it. I was glad to read Parker say it's not an anti-Bush movie, I guess as some people were reporting it was, but rather more a spoof of the action genre that anything else. So I may check it out. As long as a lot of terrorists are killed, I'll be happy.
"Terrorists are heading West on Baccalaccadacca Street." LMAO!!!!
It's more of a genre parody, just like "That's My Bush" was for sitcoms. All the inanities that come from the action genre put on display. Can't wait to see it again! TA rocks!
But what's up with the soundtrack being listed as a November 2 release on Amazon?
Aw, man. I wish I could see it, but my parents absolutley hate this kind of bad taste humor.
Maybe I'll catch it on DVD.
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.

Last I heard the soundtrack was comming out the 19th. I can't wait to pick it up, the songs in the movie are great.Originally Posted by Hordesman
Ah ok. I only want to see this because it is so true about America. We do act like the world's police.
I guess the title of the movie, and the fact that it deals with terrorists and WMD, lead people to think it might be an "anti-Bush" movie. But if you look at what Parker and Stone have done in the past with South Park, it's pretty clear that that's not really their style.Originally Posted by Michael24
First, as many have noted, they make fun of everyone equally. That's part of what makes South Park so enjoyable. It shows that there's no real malice behind the jokes, and that every "group" out their has something worthy of ridicule. Judging from the teaser trailer, Team America seems to use this approach as well.
Secondly, if you look at South Park, I think it's clear that their political and social views are a bit right-leaning. This doesn't mean that they neccessarily support Pres. Bush, but it does make it less likely that they would make a "Bush bashing" movie.
As for Team America, I'm really excited about it. I think Parker and Stone's stuff is really hilarious, and their ideas are usually really creative. The idea of an action movie send up with marionettes is just excellent. In interviews I've read, they sound pretty satisfied with Team America, so I'm really interested in seeing how it turned out.

Give a hoot, read a book.
I share your enthusiasm. After seeing Making the Movie on MTV, I can't wait for this one to open in theaters here. I've loved everything Parker and Stone have done so far, including BASEketball. I could not stop laughing at the MTV preview of the bar scene. My face hurt, my stomach hurt, and I had tears in my eyes. I expect great things from this movie.Originally Posted by Shnay

Politics aside, the movie was HILARIOUS. Even though the puppet sex scene was cut short (curse you mpaa!!!) it was still long enough and raunchy enough to keep the audience laughing for the duration.
Certain parts of the movie had me a bit confused. For one the "pearl harbor sucked" song seems slightly outdated. It was a great song, but if memory serves, didn't that movie come out in 2001? I thought that Parker and Stone parodied modern american foreign policy extremely well (blowing up the louvre and other monuments to stop the terrorists) and they parodied celebrities such as michael moore and other of the outspoken liberals in hollywoodSpoiler:
But one thing that got me was why there weren't any specific republican parodies. Why Janeane Garofalo and not Condi Rice? Why Tim Robbins and not Donald Rumsfeld or John Ashcroft? Why Michael Moore and not Bush/Cheney? I think it would have been hilarious to see Bush and Cheney puppets with their strings knotted or with bush as a sub marionette to a cheney marionette. This isn't a liberal touting thing, this is just a "it would have been really funny" thing. And I was devastated that there wasn't a saddam hussein reference anywhere. He's been their best character in a feature film and one of the best episodes they ever wrote, and they didn't make a puppet for him. C'est la vie.
I don't know whether or not they support the president, but I think that Trey Parker and Matt Stone agree with modern foreign policy on how to fight terrorism. At least that's how it seemed, but they did a fairly good job of making fun of everything.
So, yeah the movie was hilarious and I highly reccomend it, and bring the kids, kids like puppets![]()

Im not sure on the whole soundtrack deal. I just read on CrapTV's Team America site that it would release online the 19th and be on shelves the 2nd.Originally Posted by Hordesman
Ah ok, that explains it. I thought it was odd. I didn't expect a kerry puppet, unless he wins the election, he won't be remembered. Candidates rarely are. But Bush is the president, but oh well. I hope that it's at least on the dvd that I will definitely be purchasing in the future. If only for the puppet puking scene.Originally Posted by Hordesman

I can think of two reasons for this:Originally Posted by RogueMartian
1. This is a Presidential election year and Messrs. Parker and Stone don't want to be accused to political favoritism on either side.
2. Parker and Stone have been known to do quite a number on the so-called Hollywood Left in the past on South Park. :anime: Why do you think they're pretty much considered persona non grata in most of Hollywood?(Rob Reiner and Barbara Streisand won't speak to Parker and Stone, that's to be sure.
)
To the guy who said there was nothing after the credits, I heard that Kim Jong Il sings another song over the end credits, and it's one dedicated to how angry he is at Alec Baldwin.
Also, at the very least, kudos to Matt and Trey for bringing in two regular old cartoon voice actors to voice key roles in the movie, Daren Norris[Cosmo on the Fairly Oddparents]as Spotswoode, and I just confirmed that Maurice LaMarche[the Brain, of course]is impersinating Alec Baldwin. Refreshing in the age where animated movies have to get the biggest stars around to do voices now[though Baldwin wanted to do his own voice but he was turned down]
