"Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle" Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

    Fast Food. High Times.

    Release Date: July 30, 2004
    Studio: New Line Cinema
    Director: Danny Leiner
Starring: John Cho, Kal Penn, Anthony Anderson, Ethan Embry, Luis Guzmán, Neil Patrick Harris, Jamie Kennedy, Ryan Reynolds, Eddie Thomas, Fred Willard

Plot Summary: In the great cinematic tradition of Road Trip and Dude, Where’s My Car? comes Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, which follows two likeable underdogs who set out on a Friday night quest to satisfy their craving for White Castle hamburgers and end up on an epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild road trip as “un-PC” as it gets.

    Buy the movie!

    Comments?

Highlights: Kumar marrying and growing old with a huge sack of marijuana. Kumar going to piss in a bush and having a guy come right up to him and piss in the same bush. The anti-drug commercial that is almost as funny as Dave Chappelle's anti-drug commercial.

I would recommend this to people who like cartoony humor. But you might be offended as it is very R. I liked it better than The Manchurian Candidate.

Info from Dark Horizons. Artwork from Courier-Journal and New Line.

I saw the sneak preview last friday and it was hilarious, I enjoyed it more than Anchorman.

Gotta love the trashing of the "exxxteeeeeeeeme" attitude and personality type.
I've only had White Castle once, but for some odd reason I feel like trying it again. Thankfully, I have no desire to get stoned.

I loved it. Didn't expect much but it was a lot better than your typical 'two idiots go on a journey with a pieced together plot' movie.

Totally unPC and easily offending but it's good to see that the Asian male on the big screen can be something other than a martial arts warrior, a mystical guru, comic relief with an annoying accent or a little quiet geek.

Best part was Neil Patrick Harris playing himself. That or the two chicks who were playing 'sink my battles***'.

Yes, the one I noticed is that they are basically saying what the media says: that cops are racist. In my opinion, cops mostly target poor people more than race. But everyone's free to their own opinion. But I'm sure some people won't be as open-minded.

I saw it yesterday it was very funny, the small audience (it was it the middle of the day) totally enjoyed it, and so did I. I really liked the ending and the credits, did anyone stay and the end for that?

    Howdy,

We just saw it, and thought it was a really big stupid movie. I thought the middle bit started to drag pretty badly, but there were enough laughs to make me feel like I didn't totally waste my $6.

Political message? In a stoner comedy? Normally, I'm one to read that kind of thing into anything, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

    Greatest.movie.ever

I saw this movie yesterday, and it was the most hilarious movie I've seen, I think possibly ever. It was the first time I've been in a movie theater and there would be constant laughing throughout the movie. It isn't for everyone, but this movie just hits the spot on so many levels.

I've always liked John Cho in the things he's done, and he was great in this movie. Neil Patrick Harris was hilarious. Jamie Kennedy was funny as the guy who joins Kumar at the peeing bush, when there were other bushes open. Those two girls playing Battle**** was funny but nasty. Kumar talking about blazing during that college interview was great as was his hair trimming scene and revelation, as was his fantasy with the bag of weed. Marrying it, and then hitting it, interesting relationship.

The anti-drug commercial was great, the kid using that huge shotgun. The hospital scene, with Kumar wanting a big bag of medical marijuana to sedate the patient. Their friends were funny, staying at their place because they're waiting to see Katie Holmes boobs in the movie, and then they keep running into them along the way.

Then the times they had with the truck driver who had those boils on his neck that were filled with pus, and his hot wife, who he told them they could sleep with. Those extreme jerks, who end up being fakers with the music that Harold and Kumar find in the truck and end up singing to during the trip. It was a nice ending, with Harold finally talking to Maria and standing up to those jerk superiors of his from work. Amsterdam...

"Harold and Kumar go to WhiteCastle" gets an A+.

    Some lines:
"Doogie Howser stole my f'ing car!" - Harold
"It was a **** move on my part. That's why I'm paying for your food. Here's 52 for the food and 200 for the car. I left some love stains on the back seat." - NPH
"Two part question. How is it like being a junior analyst? And can you write me a recommendation?" - Korean College guy.

I loved it. It's one of those movies that has to been seen to understand how funny it is. It's going to be a cult hit GUARENTEED.

Dude that is so EXTREME !!!! Haha man, I can't wait for the DVD. I agree with the best movie ever statement. I said it while I was watching it and I said it when I left.

John Cho rocks and the guy who played Kumar was awesome, I expect to see him in a few more of these movies soon.

The movie made miss Off Centre a little bit more. *Sigh*

Am I the only one that craved White Castle after the movie?

I do have to say I had high hopes for it already since I think fast food ranks up there with sex on the potential for jokes.

what's next, 'stuffed animals go to peter piper pizza in the name of pizza the hutt?'

god.. commercialism in movies. how hard is it to make a modern flick without so much as one reference to a real life consumer product? to make a car chase movie with generic label cars!!!?!

i won't be watching this. and not just cause beef makes me feel like i'm being baked as i eat it. besides, i'd like my ideals of what battleship is , its honors and sacrifices, to not be marred.

Best movie I've seen this year. As awesome as Kill Bill vol. 2 and Spider-Man 2 were, I'll take great comedy over great action any day of the week. I've had my fill of diharrea (sp?) humor, and it's been done to death even if it was funny to begin with. Other than that I laughed at pretty much everything else straight through.

The game 'Battleship' has no honor, unless you're still in 3rd grade. In real life, honor no longer exists. Yes, heroic sacrifices have been made in the navy and shall be made in the future, and I salute the ones who will and have, but the title of 'Battleship' was seriously marred when the boardgame was made. I doubt the game those 2 chicks play marr it anymore.

Oh, and the movie gets 6,000 stars. Yes, that's right.
