Power Rangers DinoThunder "Leader of the Whack" TALKBACK

    Like This Thread!
Considering it aired already, probably time for a Talkback.

When a meteorite changes the Rangers, will they be able to work together to fight Mesogog?

    EDIT-
After actually watching the episode... I wasn't surprised at the fact that Tommy couldn't demorph. Fun little episode though... why do I feel like that meteor will have some story importance later?

I was finally able to catch an episode for the first time since "Back in Black" and I must say, this was a nice episode for me to return for.

-Fashionista Kira was perhaps the funniest. Although all three characters were cute.

-Trent turns temp. good guy, helping the rangers in the zord fight. I started to wonder if he was even gonna show up. Hopefully, next week they'll be able to retrieve part of the meteor and turn Trent to good permenantly.

-OH NO! TOMMY'S STUCK IN MORPH!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Nice cliffhanger ending.

-Overall, a cute, funny, cool episode. I'm giving this one 9 Dinozords.

NEXT WEEK: The ATV's are introduced, and we may finally get to see Trent joint the team. I'll see you then.
    Weird quote of the moment

    YYYYAAAAAYYYY!!!!!

I was three of the movies before they were dubbed.

So, we're, what, 1/3rd through the series, and we still need the Phantom, Triassic, and Ninja Storm Rangers to make appearances.

I wish we did see recessed-Tommy though. Let me guess... Juice Bar owner? Recessed-Haley... overweight Juice Bar owner destined to build a bridge in the Amazon and hunt Tommy down after he didn't pay his tab?

Though... Recessed-Kira's morph was hilarious, and Recessed-Conner was pretty funny.

Pretty cool episode. The first thing I thought of when Kira started acting like a fashion fanatic and talking like a snobby valley girl was that she has somehow gotten in touch with her inner-Kimberly. It's too bad Tommy couldn't have been defossilized to see it. I can just picture him saying: "She reminds me of a girl I dated in High School". Then there's the fact that Tommy can't de-morph. Anyone think the meteor's effect might have something to do with it? The meteor brings out a part of your inner self and Tommy is practically a power ranger to his core. Oh, and let's not forget Cassidy becoming a 1950s style nerd and Devin becoming the disco stud. Those two just can't stay out of trouble, can they?

I only got to see the last half of the episode, but that was what I was thinking also. Especially the helmet hair comment. However, that is an interesting point about Tommy not being able to demorph because the meteor recessed him into forever being a ranger. I've always wondered how long a ranger can stay in their ranger form throughout the various seasons (every power source has limits) and it would be interesting to see if this goes on for a while, if his power is drastically drained or limited by this.

BTW, what was the real reasoning behind this? I think I recall reading that JDF had to go back to the States during filming and the producers let him do his VO from there.

A little off-topic, but It's still weird to see Tom Hern actually walking, let alone dancing, after watching Tribe season 4 for a year. Come on WAM, I know you have the other seasons already .

I think this is the first time we've seen a recently discovered dino zord link up with the megazord for a second time.

A good and funny episode. Much better than the throwaways like Ocean Alert.

Final note, I hope they don't turn Trent good until after what I hope is the Ninja Storm teamup. If you've seen the Hurricananger/Abaranger teamup, you'll understand why. More importantly, I just hope they use the zord footage from that teamup, no matter what story they put behind it. It would be a shame if we had another potentially good source for megazord teamup action that goes to waste (like the GoGoV/Timeranger teamup not being used for the Lightspeed/Timeforce teamup).

Well AbareMax didn't show up in AbaRanger until episode 32, and AbareKiller in ep 18, so figure Trassic dude won't show for another 8-10 episodes. Also, chances are the NS team up will air in the Fall closer towards the end of the series. What is the Phantom though? The same guy from Turbo? Will his identity finally be revealed (other than having robotic parts)?

Phantom Ranger was a gestalt robot made of the Ranger's weapons for the toy line. Seems odd they'd MAKE a figure (In comparison to just doing a recolor, a la Ninjor/Ninjakon) without any show connection...

Ok, I just watched this episode, and it had some interesting things, but not that great of an ep. I am so glad Kira went back to normal, I really wanted to strangle her when she became all preppy and crap. The stuff with those 2 new reporters (can't think of their names right now) was just plain scary, and I can't believe they did that to them. I think Connor was better off as a nerd though, kinda made me think of Billy in the old days. As for Tommy coming back, was it just me, or did his lines seem really rushed? Heck, was that even his voice? It reminded me of Season 2 of MMPR when they had someone doing Jason's, Zack's, and Trini's voices while transformed.

Incase you guys are interested, the monster of the day was taken from AbaRanger episode 24, Giganoid 7 (I believe). The episode was about Voffa and Mikeal being sent to Earth to come up with new ideas for monsters, and they had a book that would trap anything that they shot a laser out of it inside the book. Yukito (AbareBlue) had to dress up like a girl and went with Emiko (one of the minor characters) to play around with Voffa and Mikeal until they could find out what happened with the other rangers. AbareKiller was also caught in the book, which is why he helped them destroy the monster.

Well, this was a really enjoyable episode. I really enjoyed the interactions between Cassidy, Devin, and Trent. "Oh, for a minute I thought you were the White Ranger." Fun stuff.

I also liked the whole meteor plot. I guess it's not an "alien mask" like the ABC Family preview said, unless something will be revealed in a later episode, but I doubt it, since it didn't look anything like a mask.

I guess they didn't take the advantage of using Mikela and Voffa. Oh well, they look ridiculous anyway. But it'd be kind of cool to add some more villains into play. We could certainly use some more.

The altered personalities were great. Kira's personality was my favorite. I don't think they really gave them much reflection on their altered personalities though. But there was a lot in this episode.

Devin and Cassidy were downright hillarious. Especially Devin. That was classic. They show that these are hidden parts of their personality, so apparently Devin and Cassidy do have feelings for each other, but I think we might have guessed that. It could be interesting though if it's developed.

The unmorphed fight scenes were great today. The monster kind of got on my nerves. What was his name anyway? It sounded like they were saying "Robot", but I hope it's not that simple.

Now for my complaints session. I don't know if I'd really call the complaints, but things things that annoyed me a bit. Okay, Trent was effected by the meteor, and he turns good. And Kira says "Trent helped us, so maybe there's really some good left in him." But he was unmorphed, and it's pretty obvious at this point that he is still good in human form.

But then he shows up as the White Ranger, but he seems like a mixture between Trent and the White Ranger, which already seemed to be happening already. But I guess they're trying to imply that it watered down the effects of the Gem.. Hmm, it was a tad confusing.

Now the finally awaited freedom of Tommy. But now he's stuck as the Black Ranger? Hmm, why am I not surprised? I was hoping they wouldn't try and keep the show going with JDF still in the US. They should have just waited until he got back. Sure, it's kind of funny for this episode, but I have a bad feeling that they'll drag it out for a while. The question I have though is.. why doesn't he just take off his helmet? Or is his costume bonded with his body? Hmm, possibly. In any case, here's hoping the problem is fixed soon.

But at least, this is better than no Tommy at all.

When's the last time (outside of publicity) we've seen a Ranger with their helmet off, but suit still on? The Ninja Stormers could have their faceplate remove, same with Lightspeed... but did they ever remove their helmets?

Last time I saw was in the Turbo movie, when Tommy took off his helmet. After Zedd took over, the MMPR took off their helmets inside the Command Center all the time, even in Zeo.

As for the actual episode...the Zord battle was really, REALLY quick. In fact, many of the episodes so far have seemed really rushed.

What exactly is JDF doing, anyway? Filming a movie or something?

As for the helmets, I dunno if they can be taken off. Their clips aren't as obvious as it used to be.

I think JDF (understandably) came back to America for a few weeks. Personally, I thought it woulda been better to see him stuck in amber, than BS some "he can't demorph" thing.

    Um, this second?

Either in Auckland, New Zealand, filming some DinoThunder, or America doing his standard non-acting thing.

I finally caught the episode and it was goofy as heck and quite fun! I think dancing Devon was the funniest, although they were all quite good. I don't think I have seen them morph that much in one episode before.
