It's basically a copy of the last NBC disaster Miniseries Asteroid (?) except this time its an Earthquake instead of a Meteroid. I liked Part 1, but I thought the ending was kind of a letdown tonight.

The sacrifice of the FEMA head was taken straight from Bruce Willis in Armageddon - in a deep hole detonating a nuke after apologizing to their adult child for years of bad parenting. They could have done better with the final quake. Who expected it to stop right at the feet of all the main characters?

So now California has its own little island, LA is gone, but everyone is just happy that the quake stopped, insert Presidential speech about how man will overcome, roll credits.
Does this look like a "Q" to you?

    Incredibly silly and grossly inaccurate.

Earthquakes do not ramp up like increases in speed. They occur, and that's that. And, if a 10.5 earthquake occured (remember each level of the richter scale is ten times as powerful as the last and has 31 times as much energy) it would take out most of the continent, not just bits of California.

And, what was with the camera work? So shaky all of the time. I know its an earthquake movie, but come on!!!

I was amused that the fault line was splitting right on the train tracks when it gobbled up the train. And the really bad acting from...well...just about everyone. Like how the 'hot blond' was freaking out about her dad being stuck in the car as it got sucked underground...and all he had to do was break the skylight to get out...

If a giant earthquake ripped most if not all of California into it's own little island...AFTER nearly killing me, I wouldn't be captivated and in awe by the view of a newly created ocean.
