When you say WB boards, do you mean the official WB boards at warnerbros.com, or the WB Boards here at Toonzone?
Kinda a cross post here for those of you who don't slum on over to those WB boards!![]()
I read a review of it on Ebert's site (http://www.suntimes.com/output/ebert1/pearl25f.html for the curious) and it looks like it's a stupid love story set in another tragic historic event. "Banal" is the word Ebert used, the exact same word I would use to describe the love story in Titanic. Everything in me is telling me to stay away from this one, as it looks SO much like another Titanic. Too bad, too, I really wanted to see a good war flick.

I watched Pearl Harbor on Friday, but I've never seen Titanic (I boycotted thatmovie), so I don't know if it's similar. I didn't go into this movie expecting to see a brilliant portrayal of the attack on Pearl Harbor though. This isn't a history lesson, it's just a couple of hours of escapism. If you go in expecting to see Saving Private Ryan, you'll be disappointed, but if you go in expecting to see Armageddon, you'll enjoy it. I personally enjoyed the movie, but not because it was well-written or accurate.
Defintely some of ILM's best work. It's impossible to tell which ships, planes and explosions are real and which are CG. It's worth a trip to the theatre just to see the special effects.
"Give me one gun, and I'm Superman.
Give me two guns, and I am God."
I personally had mixed feelings about the movie. I dunno wheter to like it or hate it.
But they try to focus more on the love story when they show the movie in Germany or Japan.
Well I'm sorry to hear that! I mean, this is a very important significant moment in America's history, and they just put it as a "setting" for a damn love story?? I must say I'm dissapointed. From the words of Ben Affleck in interviews I've seen, it sounded like it was all about the event and it's time period.
I'll want to see it anyway though, of course, to make a true opinion of it.

I wonder why movie makers feel they have to romanticize historic events in history. The TITANIC movie would have been good if not for that love triangle. I'd like to see a straight forward account on this. The bombing last 2 hours. I would've loved to have seen 2 gripping hours of that bombing in the SAVING PRIVATE RYAN style.

What is your favorite war movie? I haven't ventured too far in to this genre yet, and I am looking for some good suggestions.
I assumed you meant the "inferior" official WB Boards. I think all these boards are spectacular. I'm also a semi-regular poster at the WBCBB Board here. I guess I read yer post wrong.

You know, that's why I was surprised when you were saying the WB boards stink! Were you talking about the toonzone ones or those other ones? I know the WB boards here don't see as much activity as ours do, but hey, like I was saying, we are all a big happy family and need to get along!Originally posted by DickGrayson

Hunh? I was just as confused when you kept on saying "What would Harley think". I thougth you'd clue in when I said "She's stay away from those boards". As far as I know, barely anyone here goes to the official WB Boards. WB themselves moderate the official boards, and do a horrible job. Harley is TZ exclusive!
