Re: Sopranos (spoilers)

I've been meaning to post this for a while....
Earlier this season, I defended the show on the boards. But now I admit, I was wrong. I was REALLY disappointed with the finale. Could we possibly try to leave MORE loose ends?
I thought when I heard that Sopranos had been picked up for two seasons in a row, rather than season by season that it would be good for the show. Giving them a chance to work out a long story arc. Instead it almost seems like the writers got lazy and the story got diluted. In other words what should have been one season worth of stories has been stretched into two.
Ralphie should have been taken care of this season. This development thing should have been done. The Russian should have been dealt with. Janice just seems to be around as filler.
I don't think the story was helped at all by stretching this stuff out. There was plenty of build up and plenty of time to resolve them.
but, I've been thinking. And I think the main thing wrong with this season is the loss of Nancy Marchand. I just realized this after watching the finale. Without her providing the screwed up family factor, they delved more into Tony's home life. Which was boring most of the time. It sure wasn't boring when Tony's own mom caused a hit to be put out on him. Also, the show sorely misses the dynamic between Tony and his mom.
In short-I agree with you B&L, for some of the same reasons and some others.
