Which show handled time travel the best?

    Like This Thread!
I think Voyageur use of time travel sucked and by far the best use of time travel goes to Gargoyles...man I love that show.

    Quantum Leap or Dr. Who.

The reason Voyager stinks when it came to Time Travel was that you never saw the consequences of their actions, kind of like the rest of the show. They were sticking their nose's where they didn't belong all over the delta quadrant and it rarely ever came back to byte them in the ass. The other trek series handled time travel a little better, imo.

Generally the only shows that handle time travel the best are the ones dedicated to time travel.

    GARGOYLES!!!!!!!!

I agree with Psilon2011, Gargoyles handled time travel the best. Most people probably haven't seen enough of the show to know what I'm talking about, but they basically demonstrate that time is pretty much locked, and cannot be changed. Like Goliath says in the episode "Future Tense" : "Time is like a river, correcting it's course at every turn"

The Phoenix Gate and Avalon were used to show alternate methods of time passage, and I think it worked very well. Although I think I'm a bit biased, 'cause I believe in predestination rather than free will. This is similar to how characters like Demona and MacBeth are destined to do the things they do on the show.

Well, that's just my 2 cents. Gargoyles rocked!

I also liked the last one in the BBC series. What was his name? Sylvester McCoy, I believe. While not the best, I enjoyed the episodes with him and Ace quite a bit. I will get those when Warner Brothers gets around to putting them on DVD.

X-MEN didn't do that bad of a job with time travel. Sure the animationwas sloppy, but the stories around it weren't all that bad. I agree about GARGOYLES. Future Tense is one of my favorite storylines.

Yeah, I'd definitely go with Gargoyles. But a close second for me would be Farscape - they've done some awesome shows with time travel. My favorite was a third season episode in which they go back in time to this historical event on this one planet, and everything they do keeps affecting the timeline. They do everything they can to keep things happening the way they should (a la Back to the Future), but even when things happen that seem to take them in the right direction, it still has a devastating effect on the timeline. By the end of the show, they get their timeline pretty much back to normal, but there are still dire consequences for their actions. One of the best time travel stories I've ever seen.

I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random, or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
    Spiral out. Keep going"

It's been a long time since I've seen Gargoyles. Was Future Tense the storyline on Avalon or the one where Puck was trying to get the Phoenix Gate?

I never got really intersted in Farscape. Is it good? I've only seen like five minutes of it.

Future Tense is the episode where Puck is trying to get the Phoenix Gate. The point where Broadway dies is the only TV moment where I felt like crying. No other show has even come close. Gargoyles was so awesome.

Absolutely!! Its one of my absolute favorite shows. One of the things I like about it is that it just doesn't take itself serious. The show pokes fun at itself and all the other sci-fi out there, but still has its serious moments. And, the best part is that they take all those show ideas that the Star Trek series used to do, and does them lot better, with much more interesting consequences. Every once in a while they fall into sci-fi cliche, but for the most part, they put a fresh spin on things. Its just so much fun to watch.

    The Sci Fi Channel

It's not a show (because I don't enjoy many if any interpretations of time travel) but the Back To The Future movies had it all for me as far as time travel, setting up very creatively and keeping things logical. And please make note the four BTTF delorean time machine toys/models I own have nothing to do with my opinion, but rather the opposite.

I mean, some past shows will just have a machine that you stand in to send you back in time. The machine sits there and does it's thing, then you're gone. But how do you get back!!? Eeep!

One comment though. I remember after BTTF1 came out, some people were mad that history displayed the origin of Chuck Berry's music from a young teenager. I find absolutely no logic to that anger because it's not how our time line originated. Our time happened, AND THEN Marty went back and did what some weirdo's are angry over. You know what really happened, isn't that enough!? lol.

Sorry about that being completely uninteresting, but it has always griped me.

Gargoyles was an awesome show. I also think Babylon 5 did a pretty good job (If no one's mentioned that yet), how everything fit from season 1 to season 4 (Of course, season 5 just sucked poo)

Don't hurt me for my opinion....

Actually I really liked Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and I think they did the time travel thing pretty well. But that's just my opinion of course Gargoyles rocked too.

    South Park--

--in the episode "Fourth Grade". That one had both references to Speed (Timmy's wheelchair, rigged to break the space-time continuum, would explode if he dropped under 5 m.p.h.) and Star Wars (Mr Garrison as Yoda: "You will be...you will be.") What can I say, that handicapped boy is a hoot!
Though how much of a loser must one be to get into a fistfight over the fact that there are only 71 original Star Trek episodes and not 72? Worst Mr. Spock smiley ever.
