A Whiter Shade of Pale
I was thinking about this song a while back and having just heard it on the radio, I was reminded that I don't know what the hell the song is actually about. I wondered if anybody here could explain it to me or if it is just gibberish. Everybody I know agrees with me but I can't believe there isn't any sense in the song at all. Anyway, here are the lyrics:
"We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels cross the floor.
I was feeling kind of sea sick,
the crowd called out for more.
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away.
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray.
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale.
She said there is no reason
and the truth is plain to see,
that I wandered through my playing cards
would not let her be.
One of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might just as well been closed.
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face at first just ghostly
turned a whiter shade of pale.
And so it was that later ...."
So, anybody know?
"All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee."

"He couldn’t help remembering how much he’d wanted a puppy when he was a little boy. Mind you, they’d been starving – anything with meat on it would have done."
