A true Idol? Yes maybe on day they will select a small wooden figurine which represents a Pagan god.

Honestly while I don't like Clay Aken he seems like a decent guy and I guess I consider him a good American idol. Still American Idol is a very crappy show.

Though the people that have won or gained fame through AMERICAN IDOL are definitely good singers, you can't ever immediately become an "idol" just by winning what's basically a talent show competition and no more. They'll need longer careers than just one single to attain that title.
