    My opinion of The Batman

    Like This Thread!
... is summed up by THIS drawing.

Looks like Bruce Timm drew it.

Given on the DCAU, this really doesn't offer room for debate or merit in regards to the nature of "The Batman" as a cartoon on its own or in relation to the Timm version, I think it's best that its looked at for it's visual merit since I presume it was drawn by yourself - given it's your opinion. Doesn't look like Mr Timm's work to me.

I'm sure if it's not yours, you'll say and we'll just close this baby, but this gives your thread a chance instead of being closed.

Of course it's my work, I never meant to imply that it was Timm's.

I thought about posting on the Drawing Board, but I wasn't sure how many DCAU people visited that forum, and the joke is only funny to DCAU fans.

There was an old thread I was gonna post it in about what would happen if DCAU Batman meet TB Batman, but I found it had been closed a year ago.

The Drawing Board gets a load of DCAU fans drawing on it, so its at home here.

It's a nice little drawing - I can see the relationships between both models. I'm sure you can appreciate given the hammering The Batman STILL gets, such threads don't really offer any humour, but eventually just cause the standard diatribes of hatred, so we're rather not have that at the DCAU.

Creatively, its a fun piece of work with a nice finish, but as an opinion on TB, it lacks the substance for the DCAF's requirement.

Now the question is, did he beat him with one hand tied behind his back, or maybe in this case, taped inside his cape?

Yeah, I just got kinda lazy when drawing him. Capes are awesome when you're lazy.

Batman is great, because if you get bored with drawing, you can just cover him with his cape or cast a big shadow on him (or drape him entirely in sillohette).

A more traditional Batman I drew. Somewhat "Year One" inspired, with a 3-D emblem, inspired by "Batman Begins."

Lovely stark contrasts there. You should be posting here a little more often Wolfboy!

Yeah, the cape is a lazy trick. I recall one of the Judge Dredd artists saying how his excess of shoulder/knee/elbow pads actually got him into very lazy anatomical habits - I imagine the cape offers the same problem to regular Batman artists tenfold!

They're both fantastic drawings in their own rights. But the second one is a very good play on shadows. The rendering really works against the flat pose and helps Batman pop off the screen.

The second piece has some fantastic shading - the white lines on the boots really add a lot to it. I'm especially fond of the mask too - some great work there. Might want to watch out on your legs though, his calfs look a little small.

    Please post more!

Both look awesome. And since I think The Batman sucks more than a vaccum cleaner the first one gave me a good laugh.
