commissioned artwork?

hey i know the Drawing Board has some major talents... i was just thinkin if any of you take requests... like Frozen, could you make a batman beyond pic? What would it cost me? Your artwork is AWESOME!

Well, thank you Zero Zero Nine! As for commissions, I'd gladly draw BB for you - but I'm not too sure what to 'charge', so to speak. I've never felt comfortable charging somebody who is, effectively, paying me a huge compliment by asking me to draw for them. I hate taking money from genuine fans who just want a personal picture of their hero - doesn't feel right to me...

How about you PM me with your 'brief', as it were, and we discuss this in private.? Chances are I'll do you a picture for free, so long as I can post it here on the Drawing Board - BUT you have to know I'm ridiculously busy right now, so you may have to wait a month or two!!!

Personally I don't do commissions for money (tho' I probably should due to the lackluster ecconomy where I live) as I don't rate my art good enough to be charged. But my best bud does, he charges $75 for a B&W rendering on 8x11... since he exclusively does.... oh let's say more mature content, he can get away with $75. On average though, it's probably more like $35-60 for a 8x11 B&W. (I was told never to do a single drawing for less than $35 except for sets.)

A lot depends on the quality of the artist. For example a hot Pro artist maybe able to charge $100+ for the same style B&W depending on content (but remember thier workload is pretty hetic so it may be weeks to months before you recieve the drawing). Remember Head shots are generaly cheaper than full body shots. Add another character and it costs more.

Steve Lightle's & Terry Dodson's websites may give you a better idea at rates and so forth than my meager ramblings.
