"The Proud Family" beat KP by about a year on the two parent thing.
You all know by now that most Disney animated movies, or shows (be they old, or new) have this "rule" where the lead characters have to have either one parent, or no parents at all. (Or in some cases, two characters who fill the role of parents despite having very little, or no relation at all.) Kim Possible breaks this stereotype by having both A mom, and A dad. So she's pretty covered. (The only other example to this topic that I can think of would be "Recess") We haven't seen Ron's parents yet. (unless I missed it.) Just thought I'd point that out. Feel free to help me on this.

Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.
As for Disney movies,Mulan and Hercules both had two parents(Hercules had two sets of parents, biological and adoptive).....and Simba(Lion King) started out with both parents....
"Yeah, well,I've got a dream too.But it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And well,I've found a whole bunch of friends who have the same dream. And it kind of makes us like a family." -Kermit the Frog (The Muppet Movie)
I'm not seeing the cliche...
Well okay, I'll help mbaker out. Toy Story had one parent (Andy's mom), Goof Troop had one (Goofy), Tale Spin had one (Rebecca), and Darkwing Duck had one (Darkwing). Seems to happen more often in cartoons than in movies.
Hey, there's a parallel. Movies are for the family, so of course there should be both parents present. But cartoons on television are meant for kids, usually when they are alone, and more kids are likely to watch when they either have just one parent or a guardian. I'm sure Disney looks into these things when making new programs.
Later.
