But... the ep where Broadway accidentally shoots Eliza was one of the best ones!
The Launchpad McQuack thread got me thinking.
It's already been done. They've done it to Ducktales to and Gargoyles, and maybe other shows I haven't seen.
In the episode where Fenton Crackshell is applying to be Scrooge's Accountant, they cut out a scene where Scrooge reaches for a shotgun and fires it. Fenton counts the bullets and I think that's what impresses Scrooge to hire him. There were two other instances that I can name, too. Can you?
In Gargoyles, Disney's "banned" the episode where Broadway shoots Eliza with her own gun.
And in the episode where Coldstone is reawakened, you see Macbeth grab Eliza and toss her. She's supposed to hit the wall, but it suddenly cuts to where she's already unconscious.
What else has Disney done to bastardize their own shows?
But... the ep where Broadway accidentally shoots Eliza was one of the best ones!
Apparently not under Eisner's reich, er, rule. Gargoyles air late, late, LATE at night, yet TD refuses to air the episode.
I don't remember seeing that episode can someone please tell me what happens in it.
The episode is the 5th in the series and is titled "Deadly Force". Its the first appearance of Tony Dracon as well.
In a nutshell Broadway is over Elisa's watching those old shoot-em-up-bang-bang movies. Elisa is cooking, but forgets to take the gun out of her holster and leaves it on the rack. Broadway sees it, not knowing the harm it does, plays with it, and shoots her.
This explains why Broadway has such a huge aversion to guns throughout the entire series.
It is one of the best episodes, but Disney has not aired it in repeats EVER AGAIN. If you didnt see it the first time, youre out of luck as it was deemed too violent. Copies of it exist on the net, but you'll have to look.
I've also heard somewhere that a lot of the Gas Gun sequences have been edited out of Darkwing Duck. Which is just PLAIN STUPID. >__<

i havn't seen any differences.. i would not be suprised if they did ban episodes because they banned 2 or 3 boy meets world episodes on the Disney Channel.
Which episodes did they ban?
They also hacked out some skyline (WTC) shots from the 90s Spider-Man... as well as the Lizard accidentally hitting his wife while battling Spidey in the pilot episode.
Di$ney's been editing their cartoons since The Di$ney Channel was first concieved. It started with the old shorts, and now their TV shows. These people are such cowards. It's time they turned, so they don't burn.

They've also been editing Darkwing Duck. They did it with the Valentine Ghoul episode. And a couple of other episodes I forget the names of. I grew up watching Darkwing Duck and I never thought it was too violent.
I guess this means that we'll be seeing Jimmy's ugly CGI face pop
into all the different Nick shows like he's the all-important god of the
network. God, I hate Nick.

Well doesn't that just suck. I know Darkwing Duck got kinda violent (in a cartoony sorta way) a lot of the time, and I can only imagine what Disney would find questionable (like, anything Negaduck says or does).
Why must everything be banned or censored? They aired these episodes ten years ago with absolutely no problem, so why should that change? And, as for editing the WTC out of Spider-Man episodes, that's just getting really anal.
Yeesh. I don't think the human race has become THAT much more sensitive (if at all) in the past decade. Why do people insist on censoring this stuff?

I agree that censoring and banning has gotten out of control. But another thing I find annoying is that they censor (or ban) shows right after we've seen all the "nasty" stuff.
Lemme give you two other examples. I'm going off-topic here since I can't remember any Disney cartoons being edited (and I'm sorry for this, but these are good examples). Rocko's Modern Life had a few scenes cut from their episodes. In the ep where they go camping, there's a scene where Rocko walks over to a bush and picks a few berries. When he picks the last berry, something shrieks, and an ape runs out of the bush, holding his crotch. The second time I saw that ep, they showed Rocko picking just one berry and they immediately cut away to the next scene.
In another one, Heif and Rocko go to a ranch. Heif sleeps in the barn, one of the ranchhands goes to milk the cows and... well, let's just say Heif was thrilled. At the end of the ep, Heif says good-bye to the milk machine, saying that they'll "always have the barn." The second time I saw it, they cut the entire milking scene but they left the ending alone.
Just let me ask this: Why do these people cut these scenes after the episode has aired? Or why do they ban an episode, an especially good one like "Deadly Force"? I mean... most of us have already seen it! Do they air the episodes and then let the censors see them?
And cutting the WTC out of cartoons? What's the point? Are these people saying we should forget about the WTC? If it's gone in real life, it has to be gone in cartoons, too?
Some things just don't make any sense.
It's been a while since anyone mentioned this news post from Sept. 3, located at http://forums.toonzone.net/showthrea...sney+gargoyles :

"Gargoyles Halloween Marathon"
Spend Halloween with Goliath and his clan as Toon Disney airs the entire Gargoyles' series in order with back-to-back power blocks Monday - Wed from 3pm - 12am (ET/PT), culminating Thursday from 3pm - 3am (ET/PT). All Gargoyles' episodes are rated TV-Y7.
[Source: Toon Disney]
3 days * 9 hours * 2 timeslots per hour = 54 episodes
1 day * 12 hours * 2 timeslots per hour = 24 episodes
Total episodes for marathon = 78 episodes, which is the correct total for Gargoyles (65 episodes) and Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles (13 episodes). It definitely appears that "Deadly Force" will indeed finally air in this marathon. Plus, they did say the entire series, not "all of the series but one banned episode."
It ultimately comes down to the money that can be made from airing the shows. We live in a society where if you don't like something, you hire an attorney and take the matter to court, where you sue for x amount of dollars. Sometimes it's over a matter that should be common sense, such as the infamous McDonald's spilled coffee case, which resulted in current McDonald's cups having the word "Hot" imprinted over the entire side of the cup several dozen times. You see, what Disney absolutely does not want to see are letters that read like the following :Originally Posted by TimTwoFace:

"Dear Disney,
We are uphauled at your insensitivity to current events. As a result, we are now forbidding our children from watching your programs, and have hired an attorney to take our concerns to court. If you will not take action to tone down your programs, then we will.
Sincerely,
(Insert a name of a concerned parents group here)."
That would be a double whammy for Disney: lower ratings among their target audience and the threat of legal action. They want to avoid that at all costs. That just doesn't go for Disney, but all entertainment companies as well. I believe Disney would like to avoid having to make edits to shows, because they cost money, time, and effort. Keep in mind that Toonzone is representative of a minority of the population. They're much more likely to get letters like the one above, then ones from Toonzone members complaining of edits. Most of the population probably are only casual viewers as well, not taping episodes or committing events from them to long-term memory, so they can't remember what aired 10 years ago.
Disney has probably heard the edits arguments all before, so I don't believe there'll be any changes anytime soon. They feel they're much more likely to get letters from parents approving the use of edits than Toonzone members rejecting them. As long as the Disney Channel continues to gain in the ratings, you likely won't see any changes regarding editing policy. I know it's tough to say to you guys that it's futile to complain, but it definitely seems that way right now to me.
I always found the angry parent excuse rather odd. Most of these episodes remained the same for their entire run in syndication, so why change them when moving them to cable, which has a much smaller audience and looser standards? "Deadly Force" was actually praised by the same groups that normally complain about the violence on TV.
I suppose these edits wouldn't bother me as much if I knew the original versions of the series were coming to DVD unedited, but I doubt Disney will be doing that anytime soon.
