ABC Kids Saturday Morning - Week 1: Talkback

    Like This Thread!
I know its early to put these up (2 days early for that matter....), but I wont be here this weekend to do this thanks to me moving into a new place this Saturday and Friday I'll be prepping for school stuffs. So I went on and created the talkback threads for the various season premieres now, while I have the time. Hope nobody minds. Feel free to fill the topics up the day of, and I'm certain Vince, Chris, or Romey or Harl can see to things here while I'm off.

At any rate - here we go:

This thread is for talkback related to your upcoming expectations and views on the Season and Series premiere of the new ABC Kids Animated Series Blocks including but not limited to: Kim Possible, Fillmore, The Proud Family, Teacher's Pet, Power Rangers Wild Force, Teamo Supremo, etc.

I also know that for a lot of you this will also be your first time seeing Kim Possible and The Proud Family since they've been Disney Channel exclusives, so if you've seen them before, feel free to put what you think them already and if you watch it Saturday be sure to post what you think of what you think of the shows, etc etc etc.

And I think thats it. Happy cartooning and see ya'll later. ^____^

What interests me is if there will be any difference in the episodes between the ABC stations that carry ABC Kids as scheduled and those stations that shuffle the programs to all hours of the weekend.

For example, WMAR in Baltimore has on its schedule Teamo at 5 a.m., KP at 5:30 and PRWF at 6:00 and 6:30. Last week, WMAR aired its first episode of NBA Inside Stuff at 4:30 a.m. and it was NOT the same episode that hit the network at the normal 12:30 slot.

I'll be taping WMAR beginning at 5 this Saturday and hope to be up by 6, so I'll post what I see. Then, someone who sees the "normal" lineup can post what they see and we can compare.

Don't ya love it when someone responds to their own post? Well, the listings grids FINALLY have episode titles for tomorrow's lineup.

And, the episode titles for the time-shift stations (like WMAR) exactly match those who run the shows at their "normal" time.

That's a step in the right direction. But, we still have to turn on the TV in 12 hours and see what comes on.

Guess there is no love for ABC Kids. Few have responded to the shows .

No one is talking about CBS either .

I know Filmore was the only new Disney show, but I also saw Wild Force. Not too bad. Saban is going to save this network, or doom it...

Czyznyck99, first off, keep in mind that it takes time to compose thoughts on episodes. Also, these boards are NOT an accurate representation of how the ratings war will play out, nor should anyone assume they would be. Around here, newer stuff will always be talked about more often than reruns. Also, for those out east, keep in mind that the Pacific time zone is still airing its schedule when yours end at 1:00pm ET. After 3pm ET/12pm PT should be when most people's thoughts on episodes start appearing IMO.

KimPossibleFan, ever hear of "repurposing?" It's a network term for "quickly rerun." Disney doesn't want kids who can't get Kim Possible on cable to feel left out, so when a new episode airs on Zoog Disney Fridays, it'll be repeated on ABC Kids. Also, there are a bunch of kids out there who don't follow the web very well, and as a result, miss out on a new Friday episode. If they do, they can tune into ABC Kids the next day and watch it again. A great strategy IMO.

That being said, I am absolutely shocked to see nobody discuss "Monkey Fist Strikes," despite it airing on BOTH Zoog Disney Fridays and on ABC Kids today. I thought it was a great episode of the series. Kim cousin's Larry strikes me as the perfect "geek" present at Star Wars/Star Trek conventions. I also loved Lord Monty Fisk/Monkey Fist's character. I hope he returns for future episodes of Kim Possible.

I also checked out Fillmore. It was about Fillmore, who works for a student police investigation-type team catching someone vandalizing the bathroom walls. It is an interesting parody on the 1970's cop shows. Check out the following link for more info on Fillmore!:

Czyznyck99, the Power Rangers have their own discussion board at www.rangercentral.com so that means thoughts on those episodes will go there from most web users who choose to participate in discussion forums, not here at Toonzone. Keep that in mind. As for today's episode, they were OK. Nothing spectatular, but not bad either. Most PR fans are simply waiting for Oct. 5th and Forever Red, and I definitely expect better results then.

Whatever Batman192, I was just joking around, nice to see you're really obsessed with cartoons . I know these boards aren't accurate representations of the actual ratings, most of the people here are DC/Warner Bros. fanboys and fangirls.

FYI, I live in the Pacific Time Zone. I just don't think long detailed reviews are always necessary, unless the show really rocked or really stank.

Finally, it WAS a discussion about ABC Kids, and since Power Rangers is now a part of ABC Kids, it's open season here, or at least it should be.

You wanna hear what happens in the ABC Wastelands, where they move half the lineup to before sunrise?

On WMAR in Baltimore, we got week-old episodes of Inside Stuff and Teamo, a *filler* episode of Kim Possible ("Number One," not "Monkey Fist"), then the proper two episodes of Wild Force. WMAR was per network from 8:30 to 11:00. Curious how they can have PRWF on a same-week basis, but not KP and Teamo.

On WJLA in Washington, it was week-old episodes of Stuff, Recess (twice) and Lizzie, and a filler ep of Fillmore, one about whether they should look at some test answers in an envelope stolen from their teacher. They later had same-day delayed eps of Teamo and Proud.

Kinda quirky. I guess I can record Disney Channel to get new KP.

I really didn't watch any of ABCK other than Power Rangers.

    Oh, my god!

    This block is AWSOME!

All of I sudden, I adore KP. Thank god ABC Kids airs this on Saturday Mornings, as my cable company includes the Disney Channel on the lineups that cost more, so I don't get it. All of a sudden Ron Stoppable is my fav. character, as is his pet, Rufus.

Teamo Supremo and Filmore are also neat, but they air around the same time as shows like Kirby, JCA and Stargate.

I'll definatley will just watch more when Digimon joins the block in November.
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.

I should mention that Larry was voiced by Brian Posehn, the same stand-up comic that voiced Jim in Mission Hill. Larry sounds..essentially, the same as Jim, only slightly higher.

All of the dialogue between Larry and the other characters was amazing..mostly because it wasn't some outdated cliche of a geek.. he actually reminded me of Toon Zone posters.
