Goliath and Eliza? how would/could that work.
Elisa
Demona
Goliath and Eliza? how would/could that work.
Well there was that one ep when Elisa became a gargoyle...of course Goliath became a man in that ep too so....anyhoo. I love Goliath and Elisa, but I think they're more soul/spiritual partners then anything else. I also would love to see Demona get past the evil thing if you will, because she and Goliath are perfect.

I think Goliath should breed with both of them. But since Demona is constantly trying to kill them, he should just stick to Elisa for now.

wuh oh
I didn't watch the show much, but I think this should be in the Gen Animation forum!![]()

Man, I haven't seen GARGOYLES in ages! I wish some channel up here still carried that show. Anyway, I picked Demona. Yeah, she's always trying to kill him and everything, but they once made a good couple.
Hmmm...you oughta add the Weird Sisters to this poll. I would've voted for 'em. Then again, I'm a sucker for anything Macbeth related...

The Goliath/Elisa angle was so stupid and overly cliched aspect of the show. Demona, on the other hand, was a little more interesting. Yeah she wanted to kill everybody but thats only a result of being an old lady...

Species-wise, I can understand the Goliath/Eliza thing being a little strange. But considering how one of the show's major themes was to look past the differences and appearances of everyone and see people as who they truly are inside, and the fact that Goliath and Eliza were such great partners (I especially love that type of relationship), the two should have gotten together to completely round out that humanity/Gargoyles unitification theme.
Demona, on the other hand, might have been physically perfect for Goliath, but look at what she's done and what type of person she is. A murderous, backstabbing traitor; oh, done with 'good intentions' of course, but an evil character seemingly on par with the Joker at times. And she's a character incapable of change - when the Weird Sisters opened her to the truth in City of Stone, she still refused to see it, lying about it to herself and blaming everyone else for her own deeds; even in the childish Goliath Chronicles, she teamed up with the clan only to betray them, risking her own daughter's life. Even when Goliath went back in time to dissuade her hatred, she ended up only turning out exactly the same. And even if she did somehow change, she'd end up a completely different character then the true evil monster she really is.
....On a related note, support humanity/Gargoyles and judging beyond appearances by voting for one of New York's finest, Eliza Maza, in the Delaney poll!

Demona got pretty messed up by the end of the series, but I still longed to see her and Goliath together. Eliza's great, but I don't see a human/Gargoyle relationship working out all that well. Sure, emotion may be all that really counts, but biological compatability has got to play a part. I see Goliath and Eliza trying a relationship, but both moving on to other people, leaving them as soul mates in a friendship sort of way.
Wow there is alot more of you on my side then i thought.Goliath liking Elisa was stupid sure Demona has tried to kill him but remind you he has been in love with her for 1000 years i mean u can't just throw feelings away.I also can understand Demon hating Human i mean look what she had been through for 1000 years but Goliath and her exchanged Vows and have a Daughter i think for their Daughter's sake they should have worked it out.
Demona. While Elisa is a great character, I agree with Barb that she and Goliath were better spiritual partners than romantic ones. Demona is "evil", but I've always had a thing for doomed love. Call me crazy, but Goliath and Demona's love always seemed truer to me than Goliath and Elisa's.

My impression was that the producers of Gargoyles specifically delineated Goliath and Elisa's relationship as a romantic one. And the fact that season 2 ended with their first kiss...
So what if being with Elisa meant Goliath wouldn't have more children? Gargoyle clans aren't too aware/into lineage in the first place. And god forbid anyone have a relationship that can't produce children.![]()
Goliath tried a number of times to patch things up with Demona, but after the incident at Xanatos' wedding and seeing Elisa as a gargoyle... The writing was on the wall.
This question doesn't make sense, Demona was the closest thing to Goliath's former wife as possible. They even had a sort of wedding when they exchanged gifts and made pledges to eachother. The end of the series implied that Goliath and Elisa ended up together. So, Goliath "got" with both of them, but ended up with Elisa, which is how it should be since they loved each other. That's all.
I think Goliath and Elisa make a good couple....Don't get me wrong,I like Demona too,but I don't think she and Goliath belong together anymore, despite their past relationship....

the relationship between Elisa and Goliath is similar to beauty and the beast. a human loving a non-human and vice versa. of course the argument of beastiality can be made here.Originally posted by Luna

It's a variation on Lois and Superman more than bestiality. Gargoyles, humans and Oberon's children were referred to as separate races rather than species on the show. Winged, humanoid gargs have human-level consciousness as well.
--to bury and forget the past. Demona and Goliath have history, and young Angela complicates matters futher. But that's what it is--history. Demona's like the bitter ex-wife who just likes to make things miserable for her former husband and his new bride. That she's human doesn't help, but I think she'd mistreat a female gargoyle just as much. She even tried to turn their daughter against her daddy, like some shrew from a soap opera. She's simply a brat. If she can't have it, she'll wet on it so no one else will want it either.
We know from one episode that it is possible for humans and gargoyles to produce chidren. That mad doctor fellow, voiced by Tim Curry, created Delilah from splicing Eliza's and Goliath's DNA.
Sure, gargoyles only father children to assure there will be leaders to replace them when they die or get too old to serve (but unlike most monarchies, it isn't necessary for him to be the son of the present leader)...but accidents will happen. Could a human female survive giving birth to a gargoyle baby? They hatch from eggs, after all. I suppose a C-section would be in order, if a human female were to concieve a gargoyle child. Or, to see it the other way about, what if a human male impregnated Angela (the only gargoyle female available, as Demona would never have a man touch her!). Would she be the first female gargoyle to have a live birth?
Delilah was made from Elisa and _Demona's_ DN![]()
As for garg/human reproduction, I don't think it's possible. It would seem that only the 3rd race/Oberon's children could breed with humans and gargs via space-shifting.

Blast! It had been a while since I've seen the show, though.![]()
Whether his mate is human or gargoyle, it might be wise for Goliath to forget fatherhood and concentrate on getting his second into some sort of arranged marriage with his daughter--gargoyles, as the good madame says, aren't too concerned about lineage, but they do have an obligation to keep their race alive. I'm not sure if gargoyles mate for love or what, but it might present an interesting dilemma--the old ways vs. the new, obligation vs. emotion, and Angela's strong will against her father's equally as iron resolve. Suppose in a fit of pique at forced motherhood she tells her daddy, "If you want more children in the rookery, then have them by your human mistress!" Biology aside, by the time his kids are old enough to take over the pack, Goliath will be ready for the rocking chair (although maybe gargoyles live longer than men, I don't know).
Another quandry: what of the other two young bucks? If the leader's second is first in line for the most prime--and in this case, sole--breeding female, what do they do? Or are gargoyle females not just the province of one male, but passed about by all of-age males, irregardless of the seeming santity of betrothal ceremonies?
Gargoyles live about twice as long as human beings.Originally posted by The_Bookworm

In the old way I don't think it would have mattered, Gargoyles formed relationships, but not as familys. The whole clan is one family. Demona and Goliath did take vows to one another, however this was the exception and not the rule. In old Scottland it is conseavable that Angela might bare children to all three young Gargoyles.Originally posted by The_Bookworm

I do not believe that human beings can concieve children with Gargoyles, if for no other reason they are an egg laying species.
