Well that's the current progress of the potential film anyways, I read over at Cinescape that Peter Docter had this to say regarding a sequel “So far we've talked about it here and there, but really what it comes down to is the same with TOY STORY 2, is that we just had this great idea: 'Oh, this has got to be done.' So far we haven't come up with that great idea for MONSTERS. We're thinking about it, but it really won't make any sort of headway until we come up with the really killer idea. It's idea driven.”
Frankly I'm not too crushed, I thought Mosters Inc. Was OK but I much prefer the Toy Story Films and Shrek, the usual CG styled finding a kid and returning "it" thing is getting old...I am eager to see Pixar's next big project though...whatever it may be...

I'm not surprised that MONSTERS INC 2 isn't already on the way. I loved the movie and there could very easily be a sequel made for it. Then again, there has also been rumours for TOY STORY 3 ever since the second one came out, but Pixar will not make one just to make Disney more money - they are waiting for the right story.
That, and they have a bunch of other movies already lined up, with FINDING NEMO being the first one.
Pixar has a 10-movie deal with Disney, don't they? That makes 4 down, 6 to go...plenty of room for a sequel or two.

I thought it was a 5 franchise deal?
With Toy Story, A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc (which I thought deserved the Oscar over Shrek), that leaves Finding Nemo and Cars, their 2005 project if I'm remembering right before they can do something other then Disney, not that I would complain if they did more Disney stuff.
Well, at least theywant to make a Monters Inc. 2 at some point in the future. Guess we can take some comfort it that.![]()

It was a 7 movie deal.
Released so far:
Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.
Upcoming releases:
Finding Nemo (2003)
The Incredibles (2004)
Cars (aka Route 66) (2005)
After Cars is done, Pixar's contract is up with Disney. I don't know what would happen to this slate of upcoming movies if Monsters Inc 2 actually gets put on the board, but I guess we will just have to wait and see...
My origins have been clouded in mystery... some say that I was once a man, known as Hamato Yoshi. Another tale states that I was once merely a humble pet rat of a man named Hamato Yoshi. For the record allow me to state that both are true... and yet, neither is true. Such is the way of Ninjitsu.
Well Monsters Inc. was an animated movie so now we are here on the Animation Board![]()

Tom Hanks said in an interview that they all discussed a 3rd "Toy Story", but he said Pixar and Disney were in a squabble so it ain't going to happen anytime soon. Pixar sees it differently from Disney obviously, Disney sees $$$$$$$ and Pixar see ******. Basically, they won't do it for money, but for reason. I'd personally like to see new films from those guys, new stories, new characters.
I liked "Monsters, Inc." but not over "Shrek", I mean c'mon. But Dreamworks CGI has come along way since "Antz" because Antz to me looked absolutely terrible compared to "A Bug's Life". But Shrek looked alot better, I guess it was the content. I heard "Finding Nemo" is about Captain Nemo and not Little Nemo. That sounds interesting.

Actually it was a 5 movie deal. The deal was made after Toy Story was released, so it didn't count; and sequels are excluded from the contract, so Toy Story 2 doesn't count either.Originally posted by ButteredToast
