    Kim Possible - The Movie?!

    Like This Thread!
It looks like it could happen - according to Animated Movies.com it looks like Disney is giving the series the same support that it usually gives to it's larger features.

Books, toys, a radio single, even a feature film were in the works before Disney Channel's newest superhero--high school student Kim Possible-- debuted in last month's series-opening battle with the sinister Drakken, says The Hollywood Reporter. A strong premiere for the primetime animated series June 7 and steady ratings growth offer early vindication of this strategy. While Disney is noted for translating hit movies into other media and product lines, Kim Possible marks the first time that a TV show has been given the companywide support usually reserved for theatrical releases, said Adam Sanderson, senior vp brand marketing at ABC Cable Networks Group. "With a feature, it's all about hitting your release date--that build, build, build," Sanderson said. "In television, getting to your first day on the air is just your first day on the road. The challenge is to sustain that and build it over a long period of time."
For the second time today Disney is providing me with some good news - so far the series has proven to be a breath of fresh air for Disney and a generally refreshing show alltogether. This could prove to be great news for fans of the series!

A Kim Possible movie could be good, as long as Di$ney dosen't get the following letter.

    Spoiler:
(Warning, The following letter must not be read by any employees at Di$ney)

    Dear Disney Execs:

Your strategy for marketing a Kim Possible movie STINKS! Here is how you do it:

Alienate the voice talent of the show by offering them a pittance for their services.

Haggle over release dates and ratings till no one's sure what the movie's going to be like, or even when it's going to open.

Keep the movie the biggest damn secret in Hollywood until one, maybe two, weeks prior to opening. (If you do a poll a month prior, and more than 75% of the public doesn't even know there's a movie coming out, you're doing it right.)

Make SURE you only run TV spots on your own Cable channel. (Maybe a couple on ABC Family would be all right.)

Have your promotions (fast-food tie-ins and the like) tied in to strictly regional chains so the majority of the country never even hears about them.

Make your commercials in such a way that they play down the competence and ability of your main character(s). Have them concentrate on how the main character pines over that dreamy boy in her class, or how pretty her hair or her wardrobe or her shoes are. Do not show her duking it out with the bad guys, or getting out of a tough spot on her own, or doing any of that stuff that we all know only guys do. If the public wants to see any of that, they can come see it at the movie, right?

Tying in with that last one: We agree this is a flick that's going to appeal to little girls. So make it a point to make commercials that only girls are going to want to see. If you haven't turned off almost all of the male market, or the adult market regardless of sex, you've REALLY screwed up. Oh, and don't forget to give the movie A soundtrack that features some of today's hottest boy bands, and Brittany clones!

Most important: The moment the money stops showing at least seven digits at the box office, pull all advertising for the movie. If it's not gonna be a cash cow each and every day it's out, then stop throwing good money after bad. The movie will no doubt be dropped from theaters across the country like a basketfull of hot potatoes, but so what? If it doesn't make the money we want right here and now, to hell with it anyway.

Trust us on this one. We have lots of experience in these matters, and we KNOW how to turn a winning cartoon TV show into a big screen hit! Our track record speaks for itself.

    LOL!

That letter is going to get you into trouble .

The movie sounds good, but I think it will just end up another direct-to-video thing, which isn't too bad either.

    Later.

i think that is the WB's company objective. it sounds just about right because their actions follow that letter like a script.
