Wow. I'm kind of conflicted inside. Minority Report is a sci fi throwback to the days of film noir and is a compelling and refreshing piece of work that proves science fiction can be intelligent. Hollywood desperately needs it. Lilo and Stitch is a Ghibli-like throwback to creativity, old-fashioned cel animation, and awesome characters and humor. Hollywood desperately needs it.

So I'm not sure which one I want to be more successful. They both deserve it, if nothing else.

It is good. No matter how good Spielberg-o's film is, 2d animation needed someone to prove that it is still a profitable art form and good storytelling can still come out of something that hasn't been textured and styled by the latest compu-art tools (though some of the animation *is* digital here...)

The animation industry needs Lilo to be successful. For Spielberg, it's just another couple of dollars he can stuff into his overflowing pockets.

Minority Report won by a little bit more money. Curses. Oh well, Stich did very well any way and he almost won the box office by a few more dollars.

Minority Report is at second, and that's fine by me. Lilo and Stitch is a chance to prove that 2D animation is still profitable and desired by the public.

The news on the front page are box office ESTIMATES.

And FOX gave out those estimates. So there's a fair chance that they're just bullcrapping. They overestimated AOTC's opening weekend by as much as 6 million dollars.

A more accurate source at Box Office Mojo has revealed that Lilo got $34.6 million and Minority $34.2 million, thus Lilo still being the winner.
