I'm surprised that as of this hour, there hasn't been a single thread created anywhere on this forum regarding this news, but it says it all. Rich Ross resigns. He was the one who essentially turned Disney Channel into the sitcom-filled channel we know it as today. Then in 2009 until today he became Chairman of the Walt Disney Studios. What do you all think of this?

Ross was clearly in over his head. He didn't really greenlight anything. He tried to avoid taking responsibility for John Carter because he didn't greenlight. He didn't greenlight it but all the marketing problems and budget overages happened under his regime. He also hired MT Carney who was responsible for the way the movie was completely mis-marketed and re-titled as JOHN CARTER. She got fired earlier this year.

When you report a $200 million loss to your shareholders at a quarterly report, your shareholders are going to be angry and someone is going to have to take the fall.

I think Bob Iger needs to take some responsibility as well. Iger fired Dick Cook who did make mistakes but Dick Cook was someone everyone liked and had been a part of the Disney company for decades. Rich Ross was his hire and pick for the job and he had no longevity. Ross was a TV dude that didn't know how to adjust to the film realm.

Deadline.com suggested there was a rumor that Marvel's Kevin Feige could take the job but there are some other candidates as well.
