Toon Zone Talkback - "Dumbo" Diamond Edition: This Blu-ray Really Soars

This is the talkback thread for "Dumbo" Diamond Edition: This Blu-ray Really Soars.

I may have a bit more to say about this movie for the blog later this week.

But yes, it's really that awesome. I'd probably say it's in my top 3 as far as Disney films go (with the other two spots currently going to 101 Dalmatians and Aladdin, though the upcoming re-release of Lady and the Tramp may challenge someone on that list).

Bought the DVD friday, and it's nice to see Disney finally gave Dumbo a memorable home video release. And WOW was the restoration effort amazing.

That was a really interesting review to read. While I haven't seen the complete movie before, I've seen the bulk of it on Disney Channel before and I thought it was enjoyable. The Baby Mine scene always made me cry and it also made Dumbo's ending feel even more emotionally satisfying. I actually kind of like that Dumbo doesn't speak in the movie too. I think it works in the movie's favor with making Dumbo feel more like a young shy child, which the the animation helps in that regard as well, and then it becomes easier for the audience for feel more emotionally invested in his character. I haven't seen the movie in ages, so I might see if I can rent the DVD at least and see if I still like it as well.

Oh, I'm getting this one. Dumbo is one of my favorite Disney movies - probably the best of the golden 5, and that's saying something - and I've only got it on VHS. I'm always fascinated by the duality between the low cost and stressed conditions at the studio, and the stupendous quality of the film.

That being said, I'd like to hear what Ed thinks about these color changes.

Picked this up for Christmas( I had meant to some time ago but I didn't for whatever reason ) and it was a blast seeing it again. I hadn't seen Dumbo in years and for my sister it was her first time watching it as well. Dumbo is easily my favorite Disney movie and one of my favorites movies in general. Transfer is great it just looks and sounds amazing.

I knew that the movie was made somewhat as budget title but I wasn't aware there was a strike at the time of production until I saw the special features which were great too.
