Yeah, except for the part where Bolt is good and 101 Dalmatians II isn't .

Which, in the end, is why I have a bit more faith in Rapunzel, since the two guys who had to co-direct Bolt were brought on at the last minute with a deadline to meet. The fact that they made the movie as good as they did makes me want to see what they can do when they have a bit more time to work with.

I was there at D23 and I reported on the the Rapunzel footage for the site.

They showed some very brief clips, very basic stuff like Rapunzel going down the stairs. Things like that.

The movie is going to be a musical. Its also going to be a swashbuckling adventure. Rapunzel will know how to fight and know like martial arts. She even uses her hair as a weapon and Indiana Jones type of whip.

Zach Levi plays the male lead suitor for Rapunzel, I forget his name, but check out my D23 coverage to knwo more.

Sure The 90's were good cartoons but that doesn't mean every new cartoon has to be like them.

Anybody think Disney will release alittle teaser during The Princess and the Frog or at least early next year? Believe it or not, some people think it is going to be a traditionally animated film and I'm sure how most of you know how everyone thinks "Oh GCI isn't classic! This will be terrible"

Those aren't my views, but I still think this film is gonna have trouble in the box office, just because it's gonna be a CGI film and not like the "classic 90's ones".

This looks like a new pic:

I like it, a lot. All this light...

Oh, and before someone else will say it: yes, she is doing dreamworks expression.

That pic is pretty old; I think it was one of the first made available.

Don't get your hopes up,its concept art. Besides, it looks too CGIish. This movie is CGI made to look 2D.

I think it was more like technology test.

And it looks just like the leaked animation test here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRO6EHhPr5g

(it was early animation test, but still)

So i gather that's how it will look in the end, and CGIsh or not -- i like it.

The way i see it -- "Rapunzel" wasn't meant to look like it was drawn by hand (they try though), it is meant to look like it was inked by hand. I mean all these rich colours and light.

In an interview posted at toon zone, the voice actor Zacahry Levi, said that Rapunzel is going to be independent princesss, that won't need help from a prince. That at least would be interesting to see.

Isn't it a little hard to be all that independent when you're stuck in a tower?

Well.... yes. I think Disney's taking a LOT of creative liberties. I heard it was originally going to be about a girl in modern time who is sent into the fairy tale and takes Rapunzel's place in the fairy tale. Thank goodness that went nowhere. I'm eager to see what the animation will look like: I can't wait for a trailer.

They always take a lot of creative liberties. I mean, in this case (as well as the case of Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty) they're taking a ten minute folk tale and expanding it into a 90 minute movie.

I suppose it could work for her to be independent in attitude, though not in actions. After all, she's stuck in a tower. One thing I could imagine is for her to be very intelligent and well-read. After all, reading's probably the only thing you could do while stuck in a tower, given that you were provided with books.

A new image from the film showed up in a magazine.

People are wondering if this is concept art or an actual film still. From the looks of the animation clip leaked years ago, it's hard to tell.
If it's the latter, the animation will look great in this.

This cant be good. The two most recent Disney 2-D films are both princess features. That's just going to stereotype these movies as mere girls stuff. They need to diversify here.

Rapunzel is CGI, but it just looks 2D.

Reminds me of Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour on Nickelodeon...how Jimmy's world was CGI and Timmy's was 2-D.

2-D in modern time and CGI in the fairy tale?! Idk if that makes sense.

If I had to guess, I'd say that's an actual still from the film. The lighting is just a little too good for it to be concept art.
